I guess you heard about The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism, Max Weber's masterpiece. The moment is more important than the future. That is also why sex in so many Latin cultures is more uninhibited than sex in many Anglo Saxon ones.

Going from DC to Buenos Aires, I definitely feel safer over there. Yess, pity crime may be more prevalent than in DC, not sure of that, but violent crime is way lower in the areas I move around. Just take the regular precautions you would in any city you do not know. Stay in the avenues, away from dar areas, away from high poverty areas. Pity crime is a certain risk. Locals tend to over estimate insecurity. I wonder if your impression comes from Kirchner times. Media in Argentina is monopolized by a couple of groups, both anti K. As part of their campaign against the administration they would publish pity crime news in the covers with huge headlines every day.

@RockHardNYC, why do you think that the old timers opinion matters at all? Many of those old timers are banned in the other site, and that has not made a scratch in the forum's success. As a matter of fact, many old timers and new timers contribute with donations even when they deeply dislike Daddy. I do not see why a change in the ownership would make any difference. If what you mean is that under Deej the policies and the culture will change, then we can discuss consequences, but I do not really see many out of a change in the names. By the way, it is not the first time that I read about the ugly past and the monstrous and mean personalities. I respect those opinions and I do not argue the facts, but after about 4 years of pretty strong participation, I have not suffered much, just one time out, from their mean spirits. All the moderators in the other site (and in this one) have been mostly supportive and very reasonable.

I do that. I have the whole freaking set of data. I do know that what brings most of the traffic are the reviews. This pike of traffic may be related to all the reviews I have been posting because of my trip. But now I am back to normal life, I cannot afford hiring at the same frequency I was in Buenos Aires. I am not sure yet wether this is just a temporary pike or I have added a significant number of followers from Argentina. The latter is the most plausible explanation (bah, wishful thinking).

I have several sources of data. I know who my audience is, from what countries, ages, gender, income, likes, etc. etc.; I know what websites they come from, what I do not know is why they keep coming. I do not have a membership system. You can follow me in twitter and you will have a notification.

Thank you, @axiom2001. I will make the key decisions (dates and hotel) this week end. Once I make the reservations, I will contact Fernando. I think I would like to go with only two activities pre-established: a day with Fernando in Pelourinho and an anthropological experience of Salvador (without the museum, I can go their by myself), and a field trip to the hippy village and the turtles reservoir. I would like to have other things to do, but I think I want to be open to be surprise for whatever may happen once I start interacting with the locals. I want a lot of interaction.
