  1. I’ve got a debt of gratitude to all my fellow forum posters. The knowledge and tales you’ve shared have really been helpful. I’ll try not to bore you with unnecessary details but I’d like to share my experience in this first trip to Brazil To start, I’m glad I even got here. With omicron seemingly everywhere I was concerned about getting a negative test for the flight. Equally concerning is traveling with so many flight cancellations left and right. To recap what others have said, I needed proof of vaccine, a negative Covid test within 72 hours (PCR test) or an antigen test within 24 hours, a health document filled out and printed within 24 hours as well. The entire process was smooth on American Airlines part and when I arrived at passport control in Rio he just causally glanced at my vaccine card but didn’t ask for any other documents. I haven’t traveled internationally in a couple of years and I feel rusty. I didn’t account for my flight arriving at 730 am and my Airbnb wouldn’t be ready till 3pm. So I ended up booking a hotel room in Copacabana. I should have booked the entire previous day to ensure my room was ready. But it’s all good. I took Uber from the airport. One curiosity I’ve had to learn (at least from the airport context) is communication with your driver prior to pickup. They need confirmation or something via text. There was miscommunication and I had a few drivers drop the transaction until a lovely lady picked me up. Uber prices are cheap so I went “upscale” and booked Uber black because it was apparent the moment I exited the doors that winter was behind me and I needed air conditioning. For what it’s worth my Uber black car was just a non old Honda Civic. Perfectly capable and acceptable for the price though. Despite the relatively mild temps, the humidity here is killing me. It will take a few days to adjust to the weather. But it feels good to be back in a real city. The vibe on the street at first appears to be really relaxed and chill. And my god, Every third guy is my type of guy. Splitting my time between working in Alaska and holidays at home in Ohio with my family, I encounter very few gay guys and very few that are my type. I took a long long nap once I got my room and decided to check out Pointe tonight for a little bit. Let me tell you, it’s like paradise. There were two dozen guys that easily fall within my type there and I really tried not to bite on the first guy that came around. It was kind of overwhelming and I’m positive I stuck out like crazy. I didn’t change into sauna attire as I wasn’t going to be out late tonight but I’ll probably partake in the whole experience tomorrow. I tell you what I find really endearing, all of the guys seem to be very sincere. I know that of course it’s a market setting and that transactions are the goal, but I cant help but be enamored by the gentle yet masculine spirits I encountered. It’s just really nice. I hooked up with a super cute guy from Salvador and it was money and time well spent. Like most of the guys there he had a very nice dick and was a wonderful kisser. I’m telling you all, this is a Las Vegas buffet but for handsome guys with big dicks. The three guys I talked to the most asked from 150-200. My guy wanted 150 and I added a 50 tip on top of that. It was a good experience. My lack of Portuguese is a negative though. I used translation apps to eeek out a conversation but it’s awkward. This might be a wonderful excuse to spend a few months here taking language classes in my off season. In many ways today was a reminder of why I love to travel. Being in new cultures far from home, away from the normal comforts you cultivate in your home county is a challenge. It’ll take a few days or a week to get back into my travel mode life. Especially after our winters of Covid discontent. I’m going to end this here because a guy named Lucca just wrote me on Grindr. You can’t say no to a guy named Lucca.
  2. Yeah. It looks like cash is king. I definitely don’t need to be opening a bank account just for Programa transactions lol. Thanks for the heads up
  3. Can anyone enlighten me to what exactly Pix is? A lot of guys are mentioning it in ads. I’m trying to gather info online about it but I’m coming up with nothing clear. is it a Venmo or cash app situation where you can just add an account and go? Or do you need to be within the Brazilian banking system? also what is the exact app to download? Banco do Brasil app? thank you all.
  4. Lonnie. Fantastic rundown of the beaches. Thank you!
  5. thank you! I’ll look these places up. I’m sure there will be a few days of Uber eats.
  6. https://instagram.com/newmeiomundo?utm_medium=copy_link maybe meo mundo is open again? I’ve been following them for a few months while researching the options. Maybe it’s no longer a GP sauna. But thanks for the heads up at any rate. It’ll all be good.
  7. It’s good to hear the saunas are busy! There seemed to be doubts the last couple of years If the business model would hold. so currently the primary saunas are pointe and 117. do we have any info on meo mundo? And it seems like another sauna further out called boate 1140? Seems like there was one in niteroi as well? Though I haven’t heard many reports on these spots lately.
  8. Being a creature of the far north I will absolutely be out of my element and I’m going to sweat like a pig. That being said, the delicate art of beach cruising sounds like a lot of fun and something I should learn. I’m staying essentially in Arpoador but it looks like a few blocks to posto 8 and 9. I’ll have a good time regardless. my main goals for the first week is experience the sauna scene, make a few friends, find good food (I’m a chef ). And a few tourist stops of course.
  9. Thanks. I guess an easier way to put it is what are good options before and after early evening sauna visits if you want to seek out the non pay scene.
  10. I’ll be in Rio very shortly and I plan on hitting up the saunas for sure. But I’m curious about daytime options for cruising and play. I’ll be staying near posto 8 ipanema. I do love checking out cabines and theaters and regular saunas as well. And while we are at it, late night non sauna bar scene with cute guys I love dive bar with strippers type places. I’m not sure they exist in Brazil but if anyone has been to the old Rawhide or Cock in NYC, Silverados in Portland, Tom’s in Mexico City, you know what I’m talking about. I like the idea of a fairly chill bar type atmosphere with cute boys to gaze at and enjoy the beer. I love this community here and I hope to gather up a trip report within a few days of arriving. any recommendations? This will be my first trip to Brazil.
  11. What exactly is this Bangu place? I’ve tried googling it and I see a cabines and baote casa grande. Does anyone have any helpful links?
  12. I’m going to spend a month in Brazil. Right now the tentative plan is two weeks in Rio, one week split between Salvador and Iguazu (thanks for the heads up about drought conditions) and I’ll spend my final week in São Paulo. But of course this is all subject to change. I’d love to see the northeast states. Amazonia of course. The Patanal. Belo Horizonte, florianopolis, etc. that’s for next trip.
  13. It’s too bad roacarino isn’t a gp (assuming he isn’t anyhow) because he is so my type. I follow several guys on Instagram that I often wonder if they do GP work on the side. A few are dancers at the clubs I follow as well. Scouring the escort pages I’m not finding them advertising on there. Private messages through Instagram rarely get traction as I’m sure these guys get hundreds of messages a day. I’m just hoping that a few of them show up to the sauna when I visit. I mean if they don’t it’s fine. I’m sure there are many many hot guys. It’s just the fantasy of having a crush and playing out that fantasy in real life that’s exciting.
  14. My buddy lived in Phuket for a couple of years managing a girlie bar. Haha. He’s been around the block but not in Rio yet!
  15. Thanks for the info! I was planning two days in Iguazu at least. Seeing both sides requires entering Argentina I’m assuming. I haven’t looked into covid requirements yet for border crossing and it’s likely things will change between now and then. As for staying in Curitiba or PA it was more of a chance to check out cities in that region of Brazil. I could of course go to Florianopolis as well. Brazil is a big country and I’d love to fly up and see Lencios marenheses and Amazonia further out. Another time I suppose. Any info on current rates for garotos in Rio, SP and Salvador?
  16. After hemming and hawing between a short trip to the Dominican Republic this fall or a larger trip to Brazil later this winter I chose delayed gratification and bought tickets to Rio! This will be my first trip to Brazil and my first trip after covid hit. My plan is two weeks in Rio, a few days in Salvador, a few days in Iguazu and finishing off the trip in São Paulo. I’ve got a few questions if any of you all have answers. I’d like to stay in an area that’s also good for my straight companion who’ll be visiting with me for a week in Rio. Looking for a good area with lots of food options, tourist friendly and a good place for a first time visitor. He’s going to be hitting up the girlie places while I hit up the gay places. Thoughts? I also want to stop by Iguazu falls for a day or two and I’m wondering if I should use Curitiba or Porto Alegre as a gateway city or just fly from Rio to Iguazu. A couple of days in a fun city in that region would be great to contrast to a couple days I have planned for Salvador. As for Rio saunas from my social media feed it seems pointe and 117 are open. Are any other saunas open in that general vicinity? I haven’t remembered the fate of lions club. Definitely looking forward to a good trip.
  17. I saw this on my Facebook feed the other day. My Cuban friend said he will believe it when he sees it.
  18. I use a google pixel and use their google fi service. I believe it’s available in 200 some countries. But it’s amazing to land anywhere and get cell and data service.
  19. It’s looking like I might have a week open in October to get a little rest and relaxation. The Dominican Republic has always been on my short list and since I’ll be visiting Florida in October it’s just a short flight away. I’m definitely setting my sights on Santo Domingo. I’d rather be in a city than a resort. However I do like the idea of going to a beach town for a night or two. Any must see places for a first time visit? Of course I could very well just stay in the city and be a whore non stop. Haha. I do plan on contacting Manny beforehand. side question: are there any worthy bars, saunas, strip clubs, naughty venues worth seeing? I do enjoy some voyeuristic action. thank you all. question 2. Airbnb? Hotel? Where does the value lay in terms of comfort for price?
  20. That’s a good point! Maybe my hopes are up too high. Still I can’t wait to visit that historical city.
  21. Me tooooo. He’s got a million dollar smile and seems to be kind. He’s in the military as he posts pics a lot in uniform. But here in this screenshot of a short clip he seems to be in a sauna of sorts. Not sure if anyone recognizes the decor or setup to be one of the gay ones in Salvador.
  22. A guy I follow on Instagram posted this. He’s got a wife but I’ve always wondered about side income with him. If this is indeed a sauna in Salvador I’m ready to book my ticket!
  23. There are several of these dancers that dance at the saunas and clubs that I wonder if they are GPs or not. Or even in the sly. Rodolfo Marins and Ramon Ventura whom I follow in Instagram are similar situations. One can dream!
  24. Cabify was up and running a few weeks ago. Though, for your first trip, for whatever reason you have to wait 15 minutes for the car to accept the ride. After that, it’s back to normal. However there didn’t seem to be that many drivers and sometimes wait times would be ten minutes or so. But this could be different now. Cabify relaunched the week I was there with the new workaround rules.
  25. Apples and oranges. Keep at it and in the meantime try to enjoy Colombia for what it is. If you are like me, you’ll get contacts the very last days of your trip! Haha.
