  1. It's nice to notice that after years of neglect, São Paulo is back on route of the discerning gay international traveller. Rio is a better looking city, their boys are nice and warm, but in matter of pretty boys it cannot compete with São Paulo. In a trip that costs a few thousand dollars, 2 or 3 days in SP more than justify the extra cost, unless of course size & "hotness" fulfill all your needs. In this case beauty south of the border might even be considered politically incorrect!
  2. The point is the legality of nature sources and tobacco is legal (and more deadly) while pot is criminalized. Besides cigarettes have countless chemical substances that contributes to its malignity. A cigarette is not a truly product of nature as a joint is.
  3. You are absolutely right. Marijuana is an unaltered product of nature, as a comedian whom I forgot the name would say: "Does that mean that God is wrong"? Besides is an issue of common sense and public health. How many people die in a coma caused by alcohol excess? Quite a few every day. Has anyone ever heard of anybody that has OD'd because of pot?
  4. Yes, rock n roll can be many things and Bieber is not one of them. His main appeal is not his music. Is like waiting for Snooky to get nominated for best actress by the Academy. Don't hold your breath.
  5. I totally agree, rock n roll can be many things. It's absurd that Madonna got nominated many years ago while a pioneer like Ms Summer (overlooked for as many years) had to die to get the honors. How about Kraftwerk, one of the most influential bands of all time got passed over again this year, and what about Iggy!?. Shame on you Jann Wenner.
  6. The correct name is Mixxbar The address: Rua Visconde de Porto Alegre 232 The neighborhood is Floresta. Phone #- (51) 3254-7953 Email: mixxbar@hotmail.com A detailed account of your (or anyone else) visit would be greatly appreciated.

    Nude Bieber pics?

    Fale or not, ugly dick.
  9. I totally agree. Unfortunatelly all other hotels are doing the same with unreasonably rates for tiny rooms and poor service. Private apartments rent by the week is the only way to go in Rio.
  10. Hotel Atlantico-the favorite hotel of gay travelers in Rio was recently assaulted by several thieves. They took all the money from the safes, from the employees as cell phones, watches and other valuables. No guests were assaulted and so far no arrests have been made.
  11. Well, let's face it, after a certain age, most of us can only indulge with pretty boys in selected occasions and if one travel thousands of miles and spend thousands of dollars why don't go a little further and have it all? I know for a fact that with certain airlines you can stop in SP on your way to Rio at no extra cost ( TAM and American). That said this advice applies only to certain members, most visitors and posters to the Latin America section of the forum don't prioritize great looks and fancy facilities, these things don't conform with their idealized vision of what a third world situation should be, and Lagoa and their boys is certainly an insult. I myself, being the bad boy that I am, enjoy both Lagoa's cutties and 117 hotties, always trying to tango!
  12. Lagoa does have expanded to Rio. They are part owners of Point 212. Unfortunatelly 50% or whatever that is, is not enough, and the place is almost always nearly dead, no pretty boys around, as a matter of fact there are no drop dead gorgeous boys at Rio's saunas, period, (plenty in the streets). Rio does have some hot boys at the saunas, but that's an entire different matter. To catch the beauties you must take a plane to SP. Just beware of the attitude.
  13. The proportion of audience aroused by these images long ago is exactly the same as today. Some things never changes. As a matter of fact I would bet that the percentage of guys who jerked off after seeing these images in the 40's was even bigger than today, in our more explicit world. Nice to find out that we were on the radar of marketers of major companies even back then. Beautiful and revelatory post!
  14. Saunas are very busy during the 4 days of carnival, most of the boys stick around cause they know there will be an extraordinary amount of tourist both foreigners and from other parts of Brazil, with lots of money flowing around. Besides the locals, boys from nearby states come to Rio just for business, cause is the place to be. Boywise is one the best times of the year if not the best, to be in a Rio sauna, be warned that fees are a little higher at this time of the year. If you are heading to Rio mainly for boys don't lose any minute with bandas and blocos, the music is boring and monotone and they are basically all the same. If you happen to bump into one on your way to a sauna, give it 15 minutes for the exotic side of it, then follow your destiny and lose yourself in paradise.

    Adios Amigos!

I didn't know we were supposed to reply to all or most posts, really hard when such post is about a town that you haven't visited in a while, if ever. When I was aware you were traveling I would check the site in a hourly basis knowing your posts would be full of useful information and clever insights about boys, sex and curiosities about places we all long to be, not mentioning the tentalizing pictures. Gay travel loses one of their most distinctive and visceral chroniclers and MER loses most of it's appeal. Please reconsider.
  16. Forgot to mention Pedro Almodovar's Talk to Her, IMHO the best movie of this century so far, also the latest Almodovar The Skin I Live In, a masterpiece no gay man should ignore, unfortunately Americans are allergic to subtitles and so are missing a mind-blowing experience by world's best gay director. To remain on this century I would like to mention American Gangster and Miami Vice (the movie-no kidding!).
  17. The Godfather 1and 2 (the 3 is a joke right?) Ship of Fools It' a Mad Mad Mad World Barry Lyndon 2001 Goodfellas Easy Rider Saturday Night Fever Vanishing Point Local Hero
  18. Still unable to see, after several trials I was re-directed to a Amazon Boy or something (under construction).
  19. Weird, I´m not able to see anything, neither on my PC or my Ipod touch. What kind of photo is this one? I´m able to see all others, really curious about this one.
  20. Delpopolo has nothing to apologize. Since when pot is a phisical stimulant? The Olimpyc Comitee is the one who should apologize for being a fascist organization. They should be honored on having such a gorgeous guy in the competition. This doll already got 5 minutes of my time totally dedicated to him, very privately and I suspect there is more to come.
  21. One of the most accomplished art critics And scholars passed away. Originally from Australia, lived most of his life between NY and London. Anyone interested in understand art from the impressionists to Wharhol and Scnabel should pick a copy of "The Shock of the New", among his many books on the subject. Only 74, we sure will miss you. R.I.P.
  22. Pauleiro, this grid is the best. I intend to visit Porto Alegre in the near future and this is absolutely invaluable. Please give as much details as possible about the 3 establishments (I'm extremely curious about the naked waiters). Thanks in advance!
  23. Ms Summer has been cleared of all wrongdoing by Sir Elton John, no less. He said she was one the most active people on his charity Cure for AIDS both as a fund raiser and a donor, and he deeply feel her loss also as a friend, and Sir Elton is a gay citizen above any suspicion. He knows!
  24. Forever grateful to have lived with Donna Summer music in my youth. Masterful selection by Expat (thanks), only missing: Spring Affair-from her second album "4 Seasons of Love" (1976). This is I believe the best song of the first part of her career, produced by genious Giorgio Moroder. The track was not a big hit in the U.S., but was huge elsewhere (there's is a video on YouTube). Another omission is "Dinner with Gershwin". Unfortunately this track fom 1988 was not a hit anywhere, although some top British DJ'S refer to it as a masterpiece. The melody is gorgeous, the lyrics very smart and the chorus to die for. You don't know the best of Donna Summer if you don't know this song, also available on You Tube-don't miss it. Yes, Disco is culture and now with Ms Summer's passing, has a memory.
