Remember the time when novelty songs would become hits by accident every half a decade or so? (was there anything between "Don't Worry be Happy" and "Macarena"?). Now a #1 follows the other, the horrible music available in the last few years can't held the attention anymore, the record companies are recurring to some idiotic dance moves to shift product. The next one is probably a couple of months away, already on the assembly line. Run for cover.

Maybe one interesting option in SP is "Clube dos Pauzudos" (free translation: "Association of the Well Hang" ) a party that happens in a sauna in SP (I believe in either Arrouche or Barra Funda) neither far from the centro, 2 or 3 times a week. Despite the name, anybody can get in, the entrance is in the R$20,00 range, and ttrough the duration of it the sauna works only as the local for the party. No rent boys are supplied, but in a good night you can probably spot a couple. Nudity is mandatory, no towels are allowed, only flip-flops. You can just cruise around and if interested engage in a scene that is happening. You don't have to do anything that you don't want. Expect to find 70 to 100 men, all in decent shape, mostly a masculine attitude, the majority in the late 20's/mid 30's range. Twinks in short supply, expect 3 or 4 max, same with black guys (if any). I've never been there, so someone might ask how I know all this? Because I was told it mirrors similar party that happens in Rio every second Wednesday of the month, called Festa do Ape (free translation: "party in the Apartment"), despite the title happens at Le Boy Fitness, the sauna on top of Le Boy disco in Copacabana. I've been there once, and despite the shortage of my beloved twinks I had a good time and will be back one day. I think is a good opportunity to enjoy sex in Rio out of the rent boy universe. Best time to go in Rio: early in the evening, around 7. São Paulo has a reputation of being a late city, so it must be the case. Also I described the crowd I saw in Rio as the same as in São Paulo, it might not be the case because I'm comparing an event that happens once a month with another that happens 3 times a week, because I was told they were similar. Anyway it would be nice if somebody would give it a try and later report to us.

Oz is 100% right. Carnival is the worst time of the year to visit São Paulo. All the good looking boys go to Rio. Fragata is usually nice at other times of the year, it might be worth a try, but beware, in the past was known as a bottom boy paradise (but not exclusively), I don't know how it is nowadays.

I've been to Curitiba a couple times and I think 5 days is way too much, is more like a 2 days max. They only have 2 saunas with boys one is called Opiniao and the other one is called 520. Both are small compared with the ones in Rio and São Paulo with a limited # of boys, although is possible to find a couple of nice ones in each visit. If you are attracted to the type f of boys on the Brazilian south, I would include one night in nearby Florianopolis. Never been there but I've heard there is a sauna with boys with gorgeous types, and if they look like the general population is probably true. As is the case with most cities in Brazil out of Rio-São Paulo things only really happen on weekends, so 5 days in Fortaleza is also probably too much. At least they have beautiful beaches and if this catch your fancy maybe is worth the time. Also note that Fortaleza is on the extreme North of the country, a good 4 hour flight from either Rio or SP, so the smartest route (timewise and maybe price wise) would be your first or last stop in the country (Fortaleza is about the same distance from Miami as it is from Rio/SP). She criticized the current privacy standards when celebrities package their coming out with a fragrance, reality shows etc. However she traded her coming out (40 something years coming) in change for a tacky "lifetime" award given by a bogus organization that no serious person in show-business respects. Sure, but a line has to be drawn. A repeat offender cannot claim he was drunk or checking out, specially with the same person. If he looks, acts and is totally believable as a straight boy, it means you are getting all the goodies, and that's what counts right?

Straight boys are god gift to humanity, but you can have them only once, after that they are not technically straight anymore. The second best thing are straight looking bi-sexual boys. Just one advice, or as a matter of fact a survival tip: Don't fall in love.

I totally agree, have fond memories of Rounds, even if you did not take anybody home there were always the ambience, the decadent atmosphere of those in the know, very NYC, both sides of the entertainment business, the entrepreneurs and the pretenders. Rent boys were more like courtesans or male gheyshas, were nowadays everything are zero and ones and the coldness of Grindr. But to be fair what really killed Rounds was not the Internet, but the assassin of all true NY institutions: Rudolph Giuliani, the worst scumbag that has ever lived.
