Lacrosse Magazine's take on this story. PS ESPN is running this Sports Center segment with a "warning...may not be suitable for younger viewers" tag. WTF??? PPS Andrew Goldstein's account of his relationship with Braeden.
-
ESPN has been promoting a piece about out lacrosse players, to first air today (Sunday, 8/30) sometime. I'm not clear whether it will be a feature segment on Sports Center or, maybe, one of their in depth stories (in a series called "30 for 30.") Or maybe it's a stand alone article & I'm just too ignorant to figure it out from the promos. The feature is titled "The Courage Game" and seems to be something well worth watching. I'm almost certain it covers, inter alia, Andrew Goldstein and Braeden Lange whose lives intersected in a most remarkable and heart warming way, as set out in this article.

Yeah, where are the cites to a BoyToy link? What are we, chopped liver?

This article from the Boston Globe is a nice survey of the latest research on the origins of sexual orientation. Too nuanced to summarize here, so just read it. It's well written, easy to comprehend and seems to have been written by a guy with no particular axe to grind.

Best ever recipe for brussel sprouts: 1- Half them, then quarter; 2- Place in a brown paper bag and seal tightly; 3- Toss bag in trash.

To me, it just didn't sound like something Lenin would have written, so I googled it. The original version (from Leon Trotsky) reads, "You may not be interested in the dialectic but the dialectic is interested in you." Apparently the conceit appeals to many folks and, over the years, a number of less esoteric things (war, politics, the state, culture and the like) have been substituted for 'the dialectic'.

Personally I rate any flight where I suffer 2 or more major bones broken &/or 3rd degree burns over more than 15% of my body as less than OK. Clearly you are made of sterner stuff, RA1.

AS, my understanding is that China did not devalue its currency so much as cut it loose from its (not quite formal) peg to the US dollar. The dollar is up about 20% in the last year on nearly all major currencies, dragging the yuan up right along with it. In effect the Finance Ministry of China has been allowing the US Federal Reserve to set the yuan's exchange rate. What China did was knock 2% off the official exchange rate and announce that in the future it will allow the market to set the rate (with the usual Chinese caveat of 'in so far as we see fit)'. I know this is being sold as a devaluation by the media but really it's more of a reaction to the sky high valuation of the dollar so far as I can see. Too bad for Brazil but its troubles are clearly home grown not stamped 'Made In China'. -
I'm pretty sure the Saudis deployed an armored brigade to Yemen last week complete with French MBTs, Russian APCs and American armored trucks but manned by Saudis and some Gulf allies. Supposedly they're there on a training mission to the Yemen army but by sheer happen stance they landed in a port controlled by Houthi militia, blasted them out and then rolled north into a military air base (also occupied by Houthi), which base apparently was deemed to be essential to their training mission. Also the brigade appears to be receiving militia support from local Muslim Brotherhood and al-Qaeda outfits, both of whom the Saudis regard as deadly enemies at home but who also happen to dislike Iran (who dislikes Saudis and favors Houthis). In the Mid-East. you can't keep track of the sides, even with a scorecard.

Yep, they sure do go through a motorcycle quick , don't they.

Any planet with a 28 day orbit is going to be hot enough to melt most metals and with barely a trace of whatever atmosphere it started out with. "Look Mathew, the copper pool froze over last night." "Yep, been a mighty cold winter, you betcha."

The ESPN coverage of the game went on and on about him being gay. -
So this drastic drop in animal populations is down to climate change? Just a few days ago I was assured that rogue dentist/hunters from the Mid-West were to blame. So which is it?

Well, productivity in services is notoriously difficult to capture statistically. At first glance, using three guys to achieve the same end as one would seem to lower labor productivity but then you have the almost impossible task of adjusting the data to allow for increased quality of the experience. A difficult call that would call for a great number of trials to get right, IMHO.

Careful there Zipper...Sucky might read that as an invitation to assist you in your endeavours.

On the other hand, Townsend, if "bro-jobs" become an established behavior amongst the younger set, shouldn't that act to increase the pool of dudes who are bi-curious about the number of benjamin$ in your pocket? Silver linings and all that...

I just googled "Ed Chenel" and, inter alia, found the this analysis of his email by snopes.com. Their analysis reads reasonably enough to me but then several NRA types have commented that the snopes folks are known liberal pinkos of the worse sort so maybe further research is in order. PS Mr. Chenel's email was first posted in 2001 so, if we project the murder rate percentage increase forward to the present, the entire Australian state of Victoria would be depopulated by now and there would few, if any, oldsters left in the whole of Australia. Do we have an Australian poster on Boytoy that can verify this for us? RA1, have you had occasion to fly Down Under in the last few years? Seems like some Aussie would have mentioned to you the mass slaughter going on, at least in passing.
-
Tomcal, something about the wording of the email quoted in your post makes me wonder if it was actually written by an Australian. The screed reads like it was written in standard American English to me. Which in turn makes me question the authenticity of the statistics he uses to make his case. Sorry to be a doubting Thomas, but do you have any way of verifying the authorship?

Given the presence of 4 thoroughly pissed off Marines, Mr. Jackson is lucky he didn't slip and fall straight into his coffin. Some folks just lack common sense. Funny post, tomcal.

Thanks for the heads up, AS. I always enjoyed Bloom County and had no idea it had cranked back into gear.

I didn't see any thread about the lion that was illegally slaughtered

Daesh (ISIS) tosses queers off rooftops and posts pro quality videos. Dentist shoots a lion and posts snapshot. Which causes media hoorah and internet meltdown? Dentist should have gone hunting Arab queers, I guess. Cheaper too. Don't need a US$50,000 game tag for that.
