I just wanted to say it appears to be working better than ever and to thank TotallyOz for all the work he puts into keeping this running for us!

Craigslist personals are now gone WORLDWIDE, not just USA
JKane replied to torogen's topic in The Beer Bar
I wrote a couple lengthy posts about it and where people might go when it happened in the US. Since then and reading other things here, seems like Grindr is the main choice, in the Central/South american posts it sounds like it might've been even before the crackdown. Wonder if that means Tinder for working women/bi? I haven't yet noticed the return to the streets I half expected, at least around Hollywood, CA. But I have seen that messages to hot shirtless torsos aged 18-24 mentioning gen get a 'how gen' reply as often as not. Have hooked up with two lithe dancer-body bottoms lately, one's already been back once. Of course the problem is this will eventually attract unwanted attention and could be shutdown by either the app vendor or the gov't. -
Troye Sivan Lied About His Age to Hook up With Older Men

According to google, until 2016 oral and vaginal were 16, anal was 18. -
Troye Sivan Lied About His Age to Hook up With Older Men
JKane replied to TotallyOz's topic in The Beer Bar
Age of consent in Australia is currently 16, though at the time it may've been 18 for anal intercourse. -
Happened to cruise SMB a couple of times during the day this weekend, as well as Lankershim. Didn't see guys out working (yet), did see a couple transvestites. Hired a dancer with an amazing body off of Grindr though...

I was just debating this with friends and it really drove home how fucked all of this is. 2 weeks ago you could leave a home where you were being molested, a relationship where you were being abused, and support yourself by placing ads. To do unsavory things you might not love doing, yes. But you had options. You could specify what you would and wouldn't do. Safe Sex Only, ETC. You could screen the respondents and if you chose to meet you would have a 'paper' trail that you could forward to a friend. You could make a living. You could work to better your situation. Tonight all of that is gone. You're desperate for money. You'll probably be living on the streets soon and will be forced to take whatever you get offered. Maybe before you were doing ok giving massages and handjobs, now you may well be forced into unprotected anal or all manner of horrible situations. Maybe somebody offers to buy you a meal and a give you a place to sleep in exchange for doing things with whomever paid *them*. Thousands of people are in this position tonight, and most of the people vaguely aware of this happening applaud it--because the children. Those children weren't saved though. They're in an even more desperate situation now too. What the fuck, indeed.

Yes, but that's because there're two Nevadas. Where the brothels are is nowhere near where the people (nor the crime) are. (Very rural--the statute for legalization requires sparse county population.) Vegas is run by surprisingly conservative officials and they go out of their way to setup stings and bust people. Those people often assume that anything goes and are easy to entrap. Now, the fact they have legalized recreational pot without limits like those on the brothels... just maybe they'd reconsider those limits. Come to think of it, "they" wasn't the officials, it was passed as a referendum. So the citizens of Nevada could choose to do the same thing for prostitution, seems it'd be the easiest place to do it since all they'd need to do is remove the county restriction from the existing law... but then Clark County would probably still try to disallow it...
-
Has the Cheeto Mussolini even signed the damn thing yet? I'm not surprised there's better coverage of the issue in the countries that were lucky enough to get rid of their puritans. There may be a slight opening here for legalization with regulation, much like is happening across the US with pot. People can point to the Nevada brothels as the best alternative.

Despite everybody assuming us gay guys are horribly depraved, it was mostly on the W4M side. Basically pimps moved off the street and onto CL and especially BP with all the same abuses. When it was easier to con some 16 year old into working for them and giving all she made they had no qualms about doing so, whether they had her working the corner or the hyperlink. Then there were also the massage parlors, which would also sometimes 'employ' a 15-16 year old trafficking victim and happen to also advertise on CL/BP... That said, despite all the mania, I don't think they particularly advertised underage as a feature, knowing the attention it could get; nor were they pimping little girls who obviously looked younger than 18 in the pictures, from what I saw every time it made the news. Of course there were occasional scumbag exceptions but those were usually relations to the young girls and also easy targets for law enforcement. This just pushes that shit deep into the darkweb where enforcement is much harder. On our M4M sections we just had guys making money for themselves, and if we thought they looked young or the alluded to being underage I personally ran the other way (clicking report on their post as I went), so it was very rare. And yet here we all are, tarred with the same brush. I wonder if there's M4M escorting sites spinning up in the darkweb as we speak? Problem is the technical barrier to entry, if I haven't even bothered to learn how it's not like a guy who needs money for his rent, next meal. or fix will, especially when he can't do it from his phone. I guess that does re-create the position for an escort service/pimp...

I am not going to hold my breath for a wave to come along that wants to legalize prostitution, especially given the masterful way they've painted it as always being linked to sex trafficking. Sodomy was different as it was being badly abused and basically came down to (in some states) enforcing missionary-only and husband and wife only--everything else was selective prosecution and it was courts that started to act first, right? I'd say courts are the best hope here but those few who have been appointed lately lean conservative (but also libertarian...). At the same time I want it to be big news every time one of the politicians who supported this tack get caught hiring--and they should be asked about the children they must've harmed in the process! That photo reminds me, how long until www.seekingarrangement.com is targeted?

Hmm, the top of this page reminds me of another possibility. Seen many references to using the video sites to arrange meetings in the Latin American forum... But again the businesses seem to actively discourage that use and would be an easy target to be shut down if it became popular. May well get an influx of 'models' regardless. But I don't expect that the categories are setup in a way that'd lend itself to this use, are they? LA twink bottoms channel and the site looks the other way why we care where our 'cam model' lives...? There's also social media, the way people have mentioned Facebook being used in some places. But right now is the perfect storm of attention on that with a lot being done to get rid of alternate and fake accounts, and they'll be quickly targeted by these new laws if somehow they got popular in the US for that use. Of course the oldest profession will go somewhere... it's fascinating to think where. Any options I haven't mentioned? Something new? LinkedIn.com? ;oP Oh, oh, will this be what Google+ is finally used for? If anybody could stand up to the US government...

Jim Jefferies' piece on the new laws is quite good and very thorough. I was rather disappointed that Bill Mahr (pretty known to hire female escorts) had Eliot Spitzer (!) on this weeks show and didn't even fucking mention it.

With the seizure of Backpage (and arrest of owner...) and Craigslist 'voluntarily' shutting down, where do the boys go? I bet there's going to be a lot of late rent next month. Of course there's Rentmen.eu and Rentboy.pro and of course they've hosted overseas after what happened to rentboy.com but.. the owners of rentboy.com and Backpage being arrested makes me wonder if that's enough, at least if you wanted to live and spend money in America. If the sites attract the attention of the US's puritanical brigade I doubt they'd be able to withstand it. There's also always a handful of other escort sites in various stages of growth or disrepair. Been seeing Mint around more lately. Plus, that's generally a different market than what we had on CL and BP. Pro escorts charging $300+ in most major areas. It also requires a different mindset for the guys--they have to pay for and/or manage escorting as a business. A big change from guys simply posting an add when they needed some cash (like the rest of us would go to an ATM), and also a different and far less spur of the moment feel for the clients. Still, there'll obviously be many new ads, especially on the sites that don't charge the escorts an arm and leg... but again, those sites' ability to make money on that model and to not run afoul of the US law will be continuous questions. Which one is most promising? I like the search, location, and online-now features of rentmen.eu at least... Forum and hookup sites could be a better fit, but they were actively avoiding the business in the US even before these laws pass. Seen people complaining about PlanetRomeo hiding or worse its sections that were used for escorting. Gaydar's has played hide and seek too, if I recall, and never had much traction in the US. They're primed to be targeted by the new laws if they did try to serve this demand. Are any? Obviously Grinder has a lot of potential in this market but may also eventually become a juicy target for Law Enforcement, especially if it becomes the go-to replacement for Backpage/etc. They clearly don't want that business, forcing things to be rather vague plus the possibility of bans/etc. Then there's the geographic aspect of Grinder, in some ways good, but not so much for a fetishist living in the middle of nowhere. I wonder, is there going to be a "virtual Santa Monica BLVD" where people drive to in order to get ads for guys available for $$$? Is WeHo already that? There's also at least a half dozen other apps that could become the go-to for this, but they could be wiped out even easier if targeted. Are any currently ascendant? Maybe back to certain bars? The ones known for that are long gone in Hollywood and many others are feeling the loss of hookup/cruising customers to the apps. Any in LA seem like prospects? Maybe at the few stripper bars there'll be a couple more strippers open to talk about outside meetings. Maybe others will show up too...? Of course there's also the real Santa Monica BLVD and others. And thinking about that you can really see the impact of these laws. As much as I'd liked cruising the wares it was pretty horrible for the guys in every way. Constant exposure to the elements, drugs, crime, and police persecution. Spending all day watching traffic, not able to do anything else productive or to elevate themselves out of needing to do it while they are doing it. Much less choice--on both sides, clients settling for what's available but worse, guys forced to do what that client wants because they need the cash. Businesses that don't want them there, and have greatly gentrified in the areas guys used to 'stroll'. Pretty sure these laws are going to cause a lot of people to be a lot more desperate and if they end up living on the street, well they're right there to work it... On the bright side, unemployment is at an all time low, but this all happened so abruptly it may be a hard transition to make, especially for those who ended up without documentation to work. Or work experience. Or education... What does everybody think?

The thing is everybody is agreeing to the basic freedom. The gun lobby is funding the NRA to take it to the ridiculous extreme, touting that freedom instead of common sense. No one needs a magazine-fed repeating weapon to hunt or defend their home. Does a hell of a job on a cafeteria full of students though.

https://rentmen.eu/ would seem perfectly positioned now. The online now and near me features are nice. Yes, you mostly have to call/text but at least there's pretty good indication of what's on the menu first. It's just double (/triple) the price... :o[

Explicitly agreeing to a specific sex act for money is an issue. Him turning out to be 60+ minutes away in traffic is another. No indication of whether he was available to host/travel before placing call either. Him having my cell number now is a yet another (sure I could do Whats App or Google Voice or something, but those services would logically be the next to go). And since the hustlers will use disposable numbers (you often see the same post under several at one time) it's also difficult to review/warn the community. I'm not saying it's impossible, just that it's much less easy, especially if your tastes don't happen to lean mostly towards paying to suck/worship.

Well, as John Oliver and Jim Jefferies and several others go into in great depth in videos available on YouTube, Australia started to. But after one of these incidents shook them they stood up and enacted tough gun control laws, took back a shitload of guns. Yes, people living in the outback and hunting still have guns suited to their needs. No incidents since. Same in Europe with similar laws. Vastly less shootings in Canada despite similar culture (/dissimilar laws). Our main problem is the NRA which is wholly funded by the gun lobby which makes extra money every time there's one of these shootings because people decide they have to have the weapons used in the murder of children while they can still get them. NRA mostly uses their money, but also the argument it's the second amendment. The latter is powerful but far more explicit amendments and even actual clauses are either ignored (emoluments clause, anybody?) or given conditions every fucking day. Not the second though! Except the first part of it, which is ignored... The biggest problem with the second amendment as sacrosanct (of course ignoring the 'well regulated' and 'militia' parts) are two fold: 1) The intention of the Constitution was for the US to NOT have a standing army--hence wanting a militia and the idea they could appose a similarly equipped fascistic militia--as opposed to the most powerful military in the history of the planet... 2) The vastly increased lethality and speed of modern war-fighting weapons. Because of the above, anything less than an AR-15 gives me exactly 0% chance to stand up to an A-10 warthog with hellfire missiles... (Lets ignore that a well armed and perfectly trained civilian's chance would still be 0.00X%.) But that's the only possible justification. Modern repeating magazine weapons would not be recognizable to the founders. And other countries don't allow them yet are perfectly stable, and countries where an AK-47 is more common than a textbook have their governments overthrown and people oppressed every fucking day. But nobody wants to truly think through these issues and admit the obvious instances of cognitive dissonance or outright hypocrisy in their positions. Because they're told it's IN THE CONSTITUTION and HERE'S SEVERAL HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS for your PAC. Any discussion gets shut down in ways that are intellectually bankrupt. It's a mental health issue but NRA lobbied and banned the CDC from studying gun deaths even though it's one of the larger causes of death in the US. And lobbied against and removed rules against mentally ill from getting guns. And stop any kind of system that would actually enforce any of the few rules remaining on the books consistently.

Perfect example, doesn't even want texts--wants a fucking call. No indication of what he's available for, though the 'call only' text is over an ass... Facebook link is generic if even his. Location is "Los Angeles". Useless.

Every single one is a working guy, so none of the just there for hookup fun CL was. Many don't have any description and are presumably top only or hoping somebody will pay to suck or muscle worship them--but you don't know because so few spell anything out. There's almost no bottoms, and you can't search for that or anything else because IF anybody does describe anything about themselves it's usually as text on a photo! If you email for actual info it'll be ignored for days or forever, if you do get a response it's to text. I don't want dick picks via text...

Maybe in smaller markets, I've shown you what LA looks like, would love you to show me what I'm missing *in LA*.
-
There is no "street scene" I can find in LA anymore. Cruised Santa Monica BLVD a couple times lately, nada.
-
Tragedy! I just emailed all my CL fuckbudies or potentials my direct email address in case CL stops passing emails. I'll really miss the ability to post what I'm looking for, or for a guys to describe themselves at least a bit, and to initially communicate via email. BP is pretty lacking in those areas and seems to be working guys only, I've had quite a few responses off of CL that just wanted to fuck/service for free. And I'll really miss the adjacent posts, guys that need a place to crash or somebody to show them around town. Cocksurfing.com should be a great substitute for that, maybe now it'll get more traction.

Several months ago I stopped being able to get to the site. I'd thought it'd happened once before and corrected so this time when it didn't I thought the site was gone. err_too_many_redirects When I got the email reminder today I tried again, same error. Tried incognito and it worked. Went in and deleted the cookies for just this site and it works again in normal Chrome browswer. Wonder if anybody else is caught up in that?
