  1. RA1, no reply to these points, hmm? Really is funny you can equate the two by somehow being blind to points like those...
  2. Again, your de-facto party set a real low bar there with the second Reagan term.
  3. Irishman was interesting (also from a VFX standpoint) but it had it's own threads here and was massively promoted and featured. What "flew under the radar" (heh) that you've enjoyed and would recommend?
  4. After a real and in-depth trial in the Senate... hmm, imagine. They at least had to listen to and air in public the evidence before they voted along party lines. And, again, TESTIMONY WAS TAKEN UNDER OATH. The Republicans learned a real lesson that day, and none have spoken under oath since. Also, remember when the special prosecutor had free-rein for years and ended up going down entirely different avenues than his warrant, including publishing a massive salacious tome that was released un-redacted? You really want this comparison? How many people did Starr indict, how many were convicted? How much did his prosecution cost, how much did it make back in findings and plea agreements?
  5. Trump's way ahead of you, a spineless pussy as VP and a cabinet that have almost sucked the spray tan completely off his mushroom head aren't going to let that happen. Here's the difference though, if a Democrat had gone this far off the rails, say Biden does become senile, it would be Democrats who would line up to vote to remove him. Because, you know, the constitution and the country, not just something to SAY you support and defend. Your argument is exactly like the "Christians" who say stuff like "without god, what stops me from murdering and raping?" and the rest of us look on in horror as we can't imagine needing an imaginary friend to make us do good things by threatening endless brutal torment if we don't...
  6. Oh, you mean that time he TESTIFIED UNDER OATH, like exactly NOBODY from the last two Republican administrations... and tried to be cute instead of standing up and refusing the answer the question? Yeah, that's comparable to "we need to study injecting light and disinfectant" at the fucking presidential podium. "Take it, what have you got to lose?"
  7. But seriously I picked up several interesting mixers (mostly for the Costco-sized Gin I bought) including Cocchi Americano which is kinda a cross between a vermouth and a couple other things (includes some quinine so, you know, health!).
  8. Of course he's never be that concise... and he'd brag about his ratings as he does it...
  9. My first wholehearted suggestion is The Pharmacist on Netflix. Imagine a documentary that was fantastical but not mostly made up BS... The Pharmacist is the true story of a man late in years who deals with the tragedy of his son in some unique and amazing ways, in the heart of the opioid epidemic.
  10. Lucky proposed a thread for streaming service suggestions, so here it is... Maybe we can try to suggest and promote great things which don't get much attention (so the opposite of the Tiger King...).
  11. Well, it's because it turns out the constitution is completely toothless when a lickspittle traitor like Mitch controls the Senate too and encourages the president to fill all the executive positions with an endless string of spineless lackeys. And when one resigns in disgust ("you're fired!") they don't ask anything or take the warning, they just confirm somebody even less qualified... We're quickly entering the part of this bad movie where I start to think, the leader (usually a General or Colonel) is obviously making things worse, he's cost tens of thousands of lives, you have a sidearm and a conscience, possibly an oath to the constitution, do the world some good, he's fucking twirling his mustache for christsakes...
  12. Section 4. Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President. Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress, within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session, within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office.
  13. *With a little help from his friends. But I do believe his greatest accomplishment will be convincing his die-hard (poor choice of words...) followers to disinfect their insides.
  14. If these people cared about their loved ones they wouldn't have been all-in on destroying "Obamacare" and even fucking with Medicare and Medicade. Not to mention 20+ years of destroying the social safety net.
  15. The party you de-facto support (while claiming immunity from their most horrific actions because technically you're a "libertarian") has a really low fucking bar here for qualifications given the Trump presidency, most members of his administration, but going back to Sarah Palin. But to answer your question, a FUCK-TON MORE EXPERIENCE, and not just as first lady. Start with Harvard law graduate and dean/teacher, which, would be nice to have somebody who again could speak in a complete sentence about the constitution while not outright lying about it giving them "total authority"... but then... Career Following law school, Obama became an associate at the Chicago office of the law firm Sidley & Austin, where she met her future husband Barack. At the firm, she worked on marketing and intellectual property law.[4] She continues to hold her law license, but as she no longer needs it for her work, she has kept it on a voluntary inactive status since 1993.[74][75] In 1991, she held public sector positions in the Chicago city government as an Assistant to the Mayor, and as Assistant Commissioner of Planning and Development. In 1993, she became Executive Director for the Chicago office of Public Allies, a non-profit organization encouraging young people to work on social issues in nonprofit groups and government agencies.[26] She worked there nearly four years and set fundraising records for the organization that still stood 12 years after she left.[20] Obama later said that she had never been happier in her life prior to working "to build Public Allies".[76] In 1996, Obama served as the Associate Dean of Student Services at the University of Chicago, where she developed the University's Community Service Center.[77] In 2002, she began working for the University of Chicago Hospitals, first as executive director for community affairs and, beginning May 2005, as Vice President for Community and External Affairs.[78] She continued to hold the University of Chicago Hospitals position during the primary campaign of 2008, but cut back to part-time in order to spend time with her daughters as well as work for her husband's election.[79] She subsequently took a leave of absence from her job.[80] According to the couple's 2006 income tax return, her salary was $273,618 from the University of Chicago Hospitals, while her husband had a salary of $157,082 from the United States Senate. The Obamas' total income was $991,296, which included $51,200 she earned as a member of the board of directors of TreeHouse Foods, and investments and royalties from his books.[81] Obama served as a salaried board member of TreeHouse Foods, Inc. (NYSE: THS),[82] a major Wal-Mart supplier from shortly after her husband was seated in the Senate until she cut ties shortly after her husband announced his candidacy for the presidency; he criticized Wal-Mart labor policies at an AFL-CIO forum in Trenton, New Jersey, on May 14, 2007.[83] She also served on the board of directors of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs.[84]
