Several months ago, I stayed at the Marriot Courtyard on Washington Ave (1500 Block). Not exactly on the beach, about 3-4 blocks in, but in a great central south beach location and the room was like 125 a night. The hotel was recently renovated with a pool on the roof and I would stay there again. But usually I stay on the Mainland somewhere since I am from Miami and that way it is easier for me to drive from place to place since I usually avoid the tourist areas including the beach.
