I do not know of any reputable gay guides in Rio de janiero, but for Sao Paulo, I'd highly recommend Danilio V, a certified, qualified guide. If you want his email address, please send me a pvt. A few months back, I contacted Danilio to ask if he were still guiding [To date he has a good position in the travel/tourist industry.]. He stated that he was and that I could recommend him upon request. Two friends of mine will be engaging his expert guiding services next month!

I'm cracking up because this thread has seemingly veered away from Meio Mundo and Point 202. While in Rio I've gone to all of the saunas which have garatos! My preferences are MM & Club 117. For me Point was hopping and jumping from 2002 {my first visit} through 2009, but five years ago, it was dullsville; prehaps, from these most recent reports, it's beginning to be revitalized! So men, please get on point!

Great way to see Iguaca Falls
axiom2001 replied to ihpguy's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
Pauleiro, I stayed on the Brasilian side at the only hotel in the park: Hotel das Cataratas, a grand property which is in walking distance of "the falls." ...went to the Argentine side on a tour with two others and a guide. ...visited the Sheraton Hotel and walked and enjoyed myself. ...did tours of interest of the area, the falls as well as in the adjourning towns. All was fun. ...was invited by my initial guide {whose services I chose not to use due to his limited English} to go to a sauna; I declined. ...was driven to a cultural show some distance away, but by my being a solo traveler, my seat was the pits! Also, being driver for some distance and being unable to communicate was a "bummer" as well. But, I highly encourage travelers to take in this experience, and I'd do it again if accompanied by a friend/friends/etc........ ...enjoyed my experience but would not do it alone again! Because of this experience, I think it would have served me best to have been with someone as I mentioned in my previous posts! -
I answered your query in your inbox. You will NOT go wrong in engaging the services of either or both of these travel guides who are stellar in their own right and who are openly gay!
-
In a thread that follows, I alluded to your consulting http://www.netgay.com.brfor escorts in all three cities. I know their fee will be higher, but some fit the description about which you wrote in some of your previous threads today.
-
Check out http://www.netgay.com.br. It's full of hot, hot escorts which match your description in one of your previous threads. ...don't know if any of the guys speak any English. There's only one in Salvador who advertises. ...lots and lots in Rio de janeiro and in Sao Paulo. If you manage to hire Danilo as a guide, and if you're interested, have him contact the guy or guys of your desiring! I have a friend/guide in Buenos Aires to do the preceding for me although he did not particularly like doing it. He never said anything to me about it; I think he spoke to others who, at the time, read and wrote at this site. Any way-- it NEVER hurts just for asking!

Suggestion: Next time you venture out to a country, read what has been posted on this and other sites. A lot has been written about hotels allowing, and for the most part, not allowing guests. The Copacabana Atlantico for almost eight or nine years would allow locals in the rooms of the guests. A few years later, the administration began to charge a fee. Currently, I do not know its policy. But, as far as hotels in general, guests are not allowed. I write based on my previous reading of threads here which are now in the archives. The best way to avoid the hassle of having guests is to rent an apartment. I've done this in Berlin, Barcelona, Buenos Aires, and during my last visit to Rio de janeiro in 2011, my good friend and I rented and shared, and I had a couple of guests without any difficulties at all. Again, ask before leaving the States, and someone or many ones will respond. I know I've asked and have received, and I have given salient advice as well. Continue to enjoy yourself; continue to keep your "big head" and remain "SAFE!"

July 1st Update....Rio De Janeiro
axiom2001 replied to Badboy81's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
Have a "blast," literally and figuratively! -
Oh, I'm eager to recommend Danilo in Sao Paulo and Fernando in Salvador {Bahia}, Brasil. Will send you a pvt with pertinent information later today when I return home. I've used the services of stellar Danilo, and friends of mine will engage him next month. As far as Fernando goes, a friend of mine engaged his guide services last year. Both men are gay and highly qualified; both are/have been in the travel industry for a few years now.

HEY men, remember when you visit Brasil: the majority of the guys in the saunas move on after awhile. So it is best NOT to have your "heart" set on meeting a particular guy when you visit. If he's there, "great," if he is NOT, smile and move on, for there are others who are great in looks and perhaps sexual expertise and personality! I wrote the above because it's happened to me on an occasion!

July 1st Update....Rio De Janeiro
axiom2001 replied to Badboy81's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
Badboy81, try not to be apologetic about the fee that you are giving "the boys" at the saunas. After all it's an agreement between you two, and the amounts cited are definitely "not that much" as contrasted with the fee paid to escorts in the US and in Europe: $150, E100-150+ and upwards. The fees that you paid are definitely in line with today's economy. There was a time that the given fee for sauna boys was a mere R$50, but, as in many cases, there are always exceptions. I appreciated your writing this report for us. It made for some interesting reading as well as for some yearning on the part of some of us! I'll await reports 2 and 3, plus along with the accompanying photos! {And fellows, please do not hijack BB's report by writing a whole lot about fees! This has been done in the past, and it just is NOT fair and respectful to the originator of the thread; it also throws the theme/report in another direction!} -
Brazil's president now visiting the U.S.
axiom2001 replied to mvan1's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
I viewed their meeting at the White House on C-Span yesterday where she invited our president to come to the Olympics in 2016. President Obama smiled. -
Last year or perhaps the year before, I searched the travel section on http://www.craigslist.comfor tour guides in Colombia, Bogota and Medellin; there were two or three at the time. For one who has little to no knowledge of Espanol, perhaps getting a guide during your first trip {solo} would be of great help. From what Colina77 posted, I would have been at a complete loss as well as frustrated! But, when I venture back to Cuba, I plan to take an electronic translator; ...will do the same if I manage to take the plunge and travel to Colombia, a country which has begun to lure me after reading the posts at this site as well as seeing and speaking with the gorgeous guys on "Flirt for Free" who have always told me that their home base is some city in Colombia.

Isn't what you wrote in lines one and three contradictory? Read them again, por favor! Your first and last points are questionable. -
Picasso Exhibit Opens Today in Rio - 6-24-2015
axiom2001 replied to mvan1's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
Too bad that I will be missing out on this specific exhibition. I write here because I saw the most outstanding exhibition of African art at the cited venue a few years back. The Picasso exhibition should be a stand-out there. Oh, I wish I were there to take in this experience, for it would be forever remembered and relived! -
If possible, post a photo, por favor! Obrigado!

Oh, yum-- yum-- me! Fuk me! I ready to yield to you completely! Congratulations, babe, for being selected "BOY TOY of the Day!"

Atlantico Copacabana rates coming down.
axiom2001 replied to a topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
TomCal has written lots about Porto Allegre; I even think he wrote about some of its cultural attractions, although limited, a while back. Do a search in the archives here. Do a bing or google check as well! See if http://www.viator.comhas anything. I know there are good sources there for Rio and Sao Paulo; I used its services when I went to Berlin and to Barcelona. My cousin used for Italy. -
Atlantico Copacabana rates coming down.
axiom2001 replied to a topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
The Copacabana Atlantico Hotel was my place of stay "back-in-the-day," from 2002 til 2008. It had a "liberal" guest policy and wonderful help at the desk and in the breakfast dining area. ...loved its roof top as well! Apparently, both have changed since then, and I no longer have any desire to stay there. In 2011 I was in an apartment, and for me now, that's the way to go while in Rio de janeiro. My company no longer exists, but whenever I do manage to return, I'm using http://www.airbnb.comor another source for my lodging! And in response to mvan1's query as to those who post here staying at the said hotel, no one in the past three years, perhaps a few more, have mentioned this hotel! It's all been apartmental recommendations! -
What I did on my Cuban vacation
axiom2001 replied to Ojibear's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
This casa particular can be found at http://www.cuba-junky.com. There are reviews for it along with one or two other gay-friendly lodging. But after I read Oji's take on this place and the reviews and ad, I'm enthusiastic about staying here once we Americans can travel freely after the restrictions have been lifted. (I've been twice previously but on People-to-People programs!) -
I'd give http://www.airbnb.coma call and ask the business what you should do. The last time I was in Rio de janeiro, I rented an apartment. I don't remember this request being on the application form for a visa; I think I had to renew my visa at that time, can't remember. This is the best advice that I can render to you!

WARNING TO EVERYONE ABOUT RIO DE JANEIRO
axiom2001 replied to ihpguy's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
From my limited experience and my knowledge of the experience of others-- the metro is relatively safe. I've traveled once by myself; at other times I've been with one or more! But perhaps those who've used the metro a lot can chime in. While visiting my first or second favorite city in this world of ours, I've walked, used buses {extensively}, and have relied primarily on taxis as my main mode of transport, esp. at night!
