  1. It's a good idea!
  2. Is this rule no longer in effect?
  3. Dollar is down 17.5% against the real. So, if it does return to about 3.3 to 1, the inflation in Brazil will make it even worse. So let's keep that dollar up a little!
  4. There's nothing new about non-escorts being offended at a money offer. My first experience with it was in Acapulco where the guy wouldn't even take taxi money. That was decades ago! (Acapulco is not safe these days!)
  5. These days the prospect of a high end hotel and a wonderful buffet appeal to me more than a go-go bar. Sad, huh? I always liked the buffet breakfast at Le Meridien and the W. Who's better?
  6. It's dismaying to hear that drugs are so popular in Bangkok.
  7. UPDATE: Today Thailand reports an increase in new COVID cases to 22,073. https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/general/2276299/22-073-new-covid-cases-69-more-deaths
  8. Due to a rise in COVID cases, the Center for Disease Control is advising Americans to avoid travel to Thailand, New Zealand, and Hong Kong. On Tuesday, New Zealand reported nearly 24,000 new cases, while Thailand reported nearly 19,000, according to the Bangkok Post. Under a new self-reporting system, Hong Kong had 43,000 new cases Tuesday, Reuters said. https://www.washingtonpost.com/travel/2022/03/08/cdc-travel-warning-new-zealand-thailand-hong-kong/ https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/general/2275643/18-943-new-covid-cases-69-more-deaths
  9. Oz, I did that and signed in okay. But the problem does not come up each time I sign in so it may change.
  10. This still happens. I now see an error code: 2S119/1 if that helps.
  11. I support @JKaneon this. He posts some great stuff on politics.
  12. The novel I just read includes scenes from the Windmill Theater.
  13. I couldn't imagine retiring to Pattaya. I can barely tolerate a weekend there. (pre-Covid of course)
  14. Good for you on the new partner!
  15. We once had a great trip on Eva Airlines to Asia in Business Class using Lifemiles. Never again could I find a Business Class trip that didn't require an outrageous amount of Lifemiles. Until today. R/T to Rio from LAX on Avianca for 135000 miles each. That works for me...except for a new twist. The trip takes 27 hours and stops in San Jose CR and Bogota with long layovers. If they made it easy to do stopovers I might consider that as I would avoid the layovers. But it's always been hard to do a stopover on a free Lifemiles trip, at least in my experience. Any advice?
  16. @TotallyOzYour next trip? We never heard about the trip you said you were taking in December! Still thinking of moving?
  17. First Republic Bank reimburses you for ATM fees worldwide.
  18. My impression of the scholars writing about bottoming have never actually had the experience. I wonder why they assume that "power bottoming" is a modern thing.
  19. Only Firefox.
  20. The problem continues. Some days I don't have any problem, then the same log-in that worked yesterday doesn't work the next day.
  21. I also looked for the poll, but didn't want to go deep into the site. A flaw in the Costco link is that they did not give a date for the survey...or actually any other info. Take it with a grain of salt, but I'll bet that the Bangkok Chamber of Commerce is adding more than salt!
  22. Nice people, the knowledge that I have gone somewhere different, the history, the art, the ambiance. These are my main reasons to go.
  23. Is that your only criterion for a desirable destination?
  24. The February Costco Connection magazine reports that a survey by TravelMedium.com gives Bangkok the award as the most popular tourist destination in the world! Now, I am a big fan of Bangkok, but I would think that Paris might top it. There definitely is a lot of competition. Of course, most people haven't gone anywhere lately!
