Would MrGuy be from Mistersippi? I have recently read or re-read most of Tom Clancy's books so many pages are no obstruction. Also, Winds of War was a book that I wished would go on and on, even though as I recall it was over 1200 pages. Best regards, RA1

Enjoyed the first rendition of LR. Question: Did Hoover begat McCarthy or did McCarthy begat Hoover? I remember my school teachers being unhappy about signing a "loyalty pledge". They thought and I now agree that it was unconstitutional for sure. I was too young to have an informed opinion then. Best regards, RA1

I am going to Columbia tomorrow but it is SC not SA. However, thanks for the report. Best regards, RA1

This seems to be a deeply personal issue or one of little consequence to others. I don't think they dumped body parts but cremains. Therefore I think the disrespect is to the family members, not necessarily to the dead. Regardless, a procedural change is in order and no doubt already accomplished. What do you think hospitals do with limbs removed during surgery? Many cremate them and then discard them as medical waste. Our deceased KIA's deserve to be treated respectfully and their families comforted as much as possible. Likely this is the current situation. Too bad humans fail but they do. Best regards, RA

Weather is a constant source of interest for a pilot. What it is where you are and what it is where you are going (and in between) is something we study each and every day. The first thing I look at when I get up is the US radar return. After that, I get into specifics, especially if I am flying that day or the weather is "threatening" where ever I happen to be at that moment. Other than that, I periodically check on the weather where some of my friends live such as NZ, which is on a completely different seasonal cycle, mever mind having "different" weather. Do you or don't you have the eye brows for this? Best regards, RA1

I know who PB is and he is still alive. And, I am sure he did; however, he didn't go blind. Best regards, RA1

It is not that simple. The perp had already long retired and was allowed to use the facilities as part of his "charitable" program. Think about this. After a long serving and valued employee has retired, how difficult is it to restrain him from using the facilities? Don't long known employees have a "special" regard among their peers? There is no doubt that Joe Pa regrets not following through with more inquiries and prosueing the situation. As he says, hindsight is absolute or thereabouts. I see this as simply a moral issue of whether Joe Pa should have gone forward and, he admits, he did not. However, that makes him regretful not culpable and not legally liable. He has chosen to retire and that is his hair shirt to wear. I am not defending his actions but merely trying to be reasonable about the situation. Best regards. RA1

There seems to be no legal issue with Joe Pa but only a "moral one". A lot of students "rallied" for him outside of his home last night. Of course, what do students know? Best regards, RA1

Do I have to move to CA? Or, are you willing to move to TN? Best regards, RA1

Now, I am confused. I thought what I said was I could see the merit of both or however many sides there are, but, that was different from being willing to take any position as attorneys claim to do. Best regards, RA1

I think a lot of people either do or wish to see the world as black or white. I easily see it as all but entirely gray. I do not consider that the "same" as being able to take either side of an argument. Confused now? Best regards, RA1

Thanks for the reply. I don't disagree with your sentiments. Best regards, RA1

I am all for sea food sustainability but I am also for being able to afford to eat. There are points of view and things to be done by both sides of these issues. Best regards, RA1

That alone would produce heart attacks, real or imagined. Best regards, RA1

How on earth did I ever get the impression that you were retired or at least semi-retired? How silly of me. Of course, the "company" expected and apparently achieved the desired result of those "savings" that you mention. Worker bees are always subject to the queen bee. Now, is that anyone we know? Best regards, RA1

Thank you for your service is not the same as thank you for being a hero. It is much simpler than that and something I think entirely appropriate. However, I agree with you, Lucky, that one should do his best to not interfere with whatever another is doing to include eating a meal. I think that there should be much more involvement with the general citizenry in the prosecution of war. I also think that "war" should be declared or of VERY short duration. Neither has been true of Iraq or Afghanistan (among others). To me war means putting the nation on a war footing. Rationing, taxation, everyone doing their part, etc. etc. is part and parcel of being on a war footing. We have wrongfully not done that from Viet Nam inclusive and until now. I also think that every citizen of the USA should serve the country for at least 1 year and preferably 2 in some capacity. Military service is an obvious choice but there are many others and should be even more. At the price and cost of food, shelter and medical treatment how much could be accomplished "fixing" our infrastructure, giving "foreign aid" and many other beneficial projects? Best regards, RA1

Surely you mean vertically challenged people, don't you? Best regards, RA1

I believe CMH was the place of the original Wendy's so, if it was good enough for Dave Thomas, it must be good enough for "testing" fast food? Best regards, RA1

I liked AR, too. I basically only watch sports, the History Channel, Discovery, the Military channel, maybe Jeopardy and that is about it. I haven't watched a network program in years and only actually have a network "tuned in" for sports. Let me not leave out the Weather Channel but I have so many other weather sources that I only watch the WC for "entertainment", so to speak. When I travel and stay overnight I make a list of potential channels I might watch in my room. The list usually is about 7 channels long and I end up watching maybe 3 of those. Now, if only, DirecTV would let me buy and pay for the dozen channels I watch, that would be lovely. Best regards, RA1

Basically what you are describing is often called Club Fed, a term to describe a minimum security prison for "white collar" criminals. When a person steals from orphans, widows and children, does he or she deserve Club Fed? Not in my opinion. However, I do agree, as a society, we have over reacted to some crimes and under reacted to others. It does seem like sometimes our definition of humane treatment means we have just brought the stocks indoors out of the weather. OTOH, where does it say that we should or have to provide cable TV, air-conditioning, etc. etc. to inmates? Reading books or watching an occasional movie should be sufficient. Generally, I have little to no problem with the sherriff in AZ. Inmates should be embarrassed, have to work and have very few "extras". I do think their "published diet" could be improved but growing truck farm vegetables and/or livestock year round in AZ should not be a problem and the labor should come from the inmates. Best regards, RA1

Did you really know NCM was going from his public posts or did he PM you? He actually sent me a PM from the hospital but I did not know for sure he was that ill. Perhaps I was not being perceptive enough. Earlier that spring I had encouraged him to go with a friend of his on a boat repositioning from FL to MN. He wanted to do that but may not have had the strength to do so. I know you are going to think it strange that NCM and I PM'd because we are so different, but, we did and, except for politics, got along just fine. Best regards, RA1

Did you think atheists or agnostics would love us? All too many folks seem to dislike (or worse) others simply because they are different, don't they? And, as you very well know, laws don't change people's opinions, perhaps their actions. Is that enough? Well, at least it is a start. Best regards, RA1

Do you think possibly this story is a bit advanced for children? I know some "adults" that wouldn't "get it", sorry to say. Best regards, RA1

At first I thought this was going to be similar to the story about the hitchhiking wizard. I was driving along and picked up this good looking hitchhiker. He kept saying, be careful, I am a wizard and after a while, sure enough I turned into a motel. (Short version as likely everyone has heard this.) Best regards, RA1
