My only point was no one or group is perfect and I have to include Uncle Walter and those other guys. They did do far more research and actual reporting (as opposed to news reading) than the current folks but they also had their own various agenda, just like many today. The Viet Nam conflict was not over until Cronkite said it was. Also Nixon was not going to resign until Cronkite said he should. Etc. Some of that may have been accurately reflecting the underlying mood of the country but it became the transparent and overwhelming mood after Cronkite said so. I didn't watch or listen to Murrow or Brinkley (or Huntley) very often. Today it is easy to be overwhelmed with the "news" with a lot of it incorrect or worse but we are subjected to a constant barrage of same, aren't we?
