I thought it was McDonald's that used particle board; maybe it only tastes like particle board. I can see you now wearing meatballs. Wait, you must mean a closet like enclosure and here I thought you were out of the closet. Best regards, RA1

Using the Word Fag in Articles and Stories on Boytoy
RA1 replied to TotallyOz's topic in The Beer Bar
There are a lot of words that have the potential to be offensive. How we deal with them and how we deal with life has a lot to say about how well we are doing as a society. Personally, I would prefer that such words not be used by anyone at any time, but I am very aware of life as it exists. Therefore I try to not get too upset with those among us who choose to do otherwise. For they are human beings also and deserve a chance to do better. We can all plan to do better and ascribe thereto and if we fail and we need to try harder, then let's. In the meantime, let's do our best to allow our fellow human beings to be themselves and hope they allow the same for us. Best regards, RA1 -
But what do you have in your mouth? Not a bit I am willing to assume. Best regards, RA1

Your memory seems to exceed any interest others might have in what it contains AND it is often faulty. Or, perhaps it is your logic that is faulty? Otherwise, do you use the Dewey Decimal System to keep up with past silly posts? Best regards, RA1

If I were to be offered such fare perhaps it would be to the lingonberries I would object. Best regards, RA1

No, not WW or anyone who might resemble same. Not everyone herein has your range of tastes. Best regards, RA1 -
No need to apologize. Most folks I think take what you say as being in context. This is a private venue in a very large sense and various comments should be taken as they are offered. Most of us can recognize a slur when we read one. That does not mean we are incapable of being puzzled at what some write and that no doubt includes you and me. Best regards, RA1

Using the Word Fag in Articles and Stories on Boytoy

Of course. Perhaps I neglected the basic intent of the question and concentrated upon the word itself in the various contexts. Now, whilst you are channeling BW, can you spare a moment or two to have a tete a tete with any facsimile of Robin ( any wonder of boy will do)? Best regards, RA1 -
How the federal government is run is more like a religion than a business. A lot of faith may be required but some cash is welcome also. Best regards, RA1

AS- You take a very laid back and cosmopolitan view of yourself and others and I appreciate it. However, sometimes others are not so willing to have their personal sensitivities rubbed the wrong way. Sticks and stones, etc. is a familiar phrase but it isn't exactly true always. Words can and do hurt. However, I certainly agree that context is everything. Are you Batman or Robin in your crusade to take back the night? Best regards, RA1 -
What are the three things wrong with eating horse meat? 1. Consumers should not be ignorant of what they are eating aka improper labeling or misidentification. 2. The horse meat may not have been inspected by whatever government regulatory agency in charge of approving food for human consumption. However, BO recently approved USDA inspection of horse meat for human consumption, if any were curious. 3. A societal or cultural hang-up about horse meat. We think horses are cuter than cows and pigs are downright ugly. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder and if you are hungry................ Best regards, RA1

You know what is right and what is wrong. But that does not mean that is what will happen in court. These tariffs are part of international agreements where many countries are not as litigious as we are in the US. If you look at the cruise lines owned by Carnival you might be surprised. They include HAL, Cunard and many others. Combined they do a LOT of buiness in the US and could not survive a "serious" PR disadvantage; therefore they are "mostly" doing what is right in the case of Triumph. No one is ever completely satisfied, are they? Best regards, RA1
-
It is all a matter of who do you believe, isn't it? Of course any suits will have to be at the location that Carnival has a legal presence. So, perhaps travel to MIA, tell you tale of woe and see if anyone cares to recompense you more than Carnival already has or agreed to do. Personally I think it was a matter of inconvenience, perhaps a large inconvenience, but without any "real" danger to one's life or person. Not any of the potential plaintiffs would want me on the jury, although I would certainly listen to whatever they had to say. That means I am not sympathetic towards Carnival either but so far think they have made appropriate efforts to ameliorate the situation. More to come, I am sure. Best regards, RA1 lookin- If you read the tariff provisions on any common carrier "ticket" you will see that you do have rights but not those which many seem to think they have (at least in the USA). Virtually all airline accidents that have resulted in fatalities have resulted in awards far more than the tariff allowed. Good or bad, those are the facts.

It wasn't that the link didn't work, just that commentary is at least as important as the information on the link. Best regards, RA1

I very much like to see a link to any "story" or article but in some ways it is somewhat like saying, Google it if you want to know. Your opinion or comment is often more important than the "news" and almost surely, just as important. Best regards, RA1

Who is upset? I am merely reporting about an interview I heard last night. Aren't you suggesting the same thing as the interviewee, namely that we all pay in one way or another for lawsuits, especially frivolous ones? The passengers are getting a refund, a free cruise, a ride home + a hotel stay + $500. Is that similar to the couple of thousand you mentioned? Do you actually read anything before you post or just post and like Pelosi says, we can read it after we pass it to see what it says? Best regards, RA1

I may be sorry to bring this up again but I happened to listen to an interview last night of a passenger on this cruise. She said she wondered what ship those passengers were on that were complaining about food, etc. She said there was always plenty of food, the crew did their duty and explained how to "take care" of sanitary situations. Of course, it was inconvenient but she thought such folks were just trying to get a bigger settlement. Imagine that, US citizens going over the top in order to get something for nothing. Tsk, tsk.
