  1. Wal-Mart is an interesting study in contradictions. Many love to hate them and many hate to love them. Sam Walton went from rags to riches so to speak but never lost "some" of his down home personality. Drove a pick-up truck and flew an old 6 place twin engine aircraft himself. Originally they advertised nothing but US made products. But, that changed, drastically and dramatically. Wal-Mart reputedly under pays and over works their employees. That almost surely will be the reputation of such a large company. Like most such, there is no doubt some truth to the supposition. I don't know exactly what their employee benefits are and I think it might take a rocket scientist to completely figure it out. Not all employees are invested in health care or any other benefits. A large percentage of Wal-Mart employees are on state health programs such as Medicaid, etc. No doubt some are also on food stamps and other US programs. Are many of Wal-Mart's employees at minimum wage and would you fairly characterize most of those jobs as entry level, such as flipping burgers is? I think they fall somewhere in between, partly because of some benefits. I mean for this post to neither be an attack on Wal-Mart nor a defense of their policies, merely something to think about. How can BO go wrong with this idea, other than have world opinion continue to fall? It is already way too late to do anything (limited) that might be effective, if the Congress won't approve "better late than never" then he can blame them and, if Congress does approve this mission of folly and things go wrong, he can blame Congress. Funny, these things are never the administration's fault. Best regards, RA1

CharliePSP- I agree with you but you left out the value of experience. That is something that is highly prized in my profession. However, like many professions, it is sometimes difficult to accurately evaluate it. If you do the same thing 2,000 times in a row (2,000 hours of flying experience) is it as valuable as doing 100 different things 20 times each? Generally I don't think so. The Congress has upped the ante by requiring more flight hours before flying paying passengers but has done little about the quality of that flight time. Here I am talking about the airlines. Best regards, RA1

lookin- It is my personal opinion that you have done more for your fellow citizens than BO has. And, your ratings are higher, your international reputation is better and your probably have a rescue pet. Best regards, RA1

Not to beat up on you but "his words"? What about his deeds (or lack thereof)? Best regards, RA1

lookin- I find it interesting that your mention that BO received the Nobel prize while sitting in his house which I take to mean he did nothing to deserve it. Probably you do not mean my interpretation. But, I do. I have wondered for quite some time how an neighborhood organizer who did virtually nothing before being elected to the US Senate and very little since can receive such as the NPP. What it definitely has done is reduce my opinion of the prize. Sorry to be so negative. Best regards, RA1

US citizens are often "detained" after being stopped for a presumed traffic infraction without being arrested. Ditto being, if not detained, at least "slowed down" in the progress to boarding an airliner by the TSA who "unconstitutionally" inspect a LOT of things. There are a lot of illegal activities perpetuated upon average citizens on an all too regular basis. I am surprised when those who jump up and down about race relations and civil rights do not complain about these kinds of abuses. However, that is a common complaint about the liberal press, is it not? Best regards, RA1

I don't see any of this happening. Also, regardless of BO asking for Congressional approval, anything short of all out warfare will be a waste of time, money and effort. This has not happened since WWII and will not happen during this situation either. Best regards, RA1

Advertising is the ruination of America. Eggs seem to come and go as "bad things to eat" but bacon is forever. I like it too, but not very often. Best regards, RA1
  12. It is easy to imagine RR glomming onto this Russian proverb and using it until many were tired of hearing it but not tired of "using it". It is much harder to imagine Gorbi quoting RWE and his expressions of individualism and thereby taking them to heart. Individualism and capitalism today in Russia seems to mean gang rule or mafia type rule. Corruption of any description is still corruption. Best regards, RA1

I avoid fast food at every opportunity but who will serve it to you? Does the argument of those who are employed at an entry level position demanding a "living wage" of $15 makes sense to you? It certainly alludes to a big underlying problem but makes no sense to me. Best regards, RA1

I read your post but not the link until today. I apologize for being dilatory. It appears the answer to your question, regardless of Professor Woods's logical argument, is neither side will pay any attention to the Constitution and my answer of 90 days will be the least, not the most (as intended). This whole unilateral episode to be brings up another point and that is, with all this notice, how will spending millions launching cruise missiles first hit any targets worth hitting and second do anything more than barely rattle the sabre? Won't Assad simply either move stores of WMD out of harm's way or into schools and hospitals. Those are well known and proven strategies. The thought has been advanced that doing "anything" will put Iran on notice about further development of nuclear weapons and all of the middle east that the US is not a paper tiger. Actually I think the actions contemplated tend to prove we are a paper tiger. Best regards, RA1

Sounds like a cover up to me. Is Miranda still under arrest? Was he ever under arrest? How can any government officials "complain" when various agents leave laptops lying around with tens of thousands of SS #'s and all kinds of "secret" or "sensitive" information in them? At least 50% of the time, "sensitive information" means something the government doesn't want the public to know they are doing. Best regards, RA1

I believe BO has the unilateral ability to "wage war" for up to 90 days without the advice and consent of the Congress. No comment about who does or does not approve to include Great Britain, members of Congress and the American people. Yes, the sky IS falling and I know it to be so. Best regards, RA1
