Your post also seemed to remind me of some separate long-past memory, which I only just now finally recalled. Couple decades ago I had a friend (straight, married, etc.) who could do the most hilarious imitation of the voice of oceanographer Jacques Cousteau — with reference to those invevitably gorgeous Mediterranean crewboys on his research ship the Calypso as seen in his TV specials: ’...so now we sail into port to pick up the beautiful boys...’ Same mellifluous mystical voice he used to describe porpoise sightings or whale breachings or whatever. -
Leonardo da Vinci: The Biography review – portrait of an easily distracted genius Walter Isaacson’s illuminating study explains why the original Renaissance man left so many paintings unfinished… https://www.theguardian.com/books/2017/oct/23/leonardo-da-vinci-biography-by-walter-isaacson-review

We may take at least a little comfort in recalling that those who initiated civil war in this country did not come to a good end. Those however who started revolutionary war came out pretty well. Vive la revolution 2020!

The Economist in the middle of WJC’s self-immolation published an hilarious cover cartoon of Clinton in a Houdini-style metal body cage, suspended head-down over a pile of burning coals — and grinning like the Cheshire Cat! Just knowing he had already figured out how to escape his latest self-inflicted trap. The 180-degree contrast with the Orangangutang could not be greater. -

Two things: Horace Greeley (I think) said: ‘The only way to guarantee a free press is to own one.’ Thus our high school journalism teacher made us go out & sell ad space to local merchants so we could self-publish our school newspaper without any reliance on school funds, so we were independent journalists with full First Amendment rights that the school administration could not tamper with. Second: As said above, ‘Careful’ has never been in my vocabulary. Yet ye note I still be here. -

ARE there rules? Where does one look them up? I myself make ‘em up as I go along. Maybe that is the ‘rule.’ People tell me ‘Be safe.’ My answer is ‘No, I be dangerous.’ -

Superb. One footnote: Clinton did preside over the dismantling of Glass-Steagall, which was as much the source of the Great Meltdown as was the rash of subprime mortgages and their subsequent metastasizing throughout the whole financial system through being repackaged as credit derivative swaps etc etc. So to give the devil his due.

Truly great organ performer; just learned he was deceased 2 years ago. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michel_Chapuis_(organist) ‘During his lifetime, he performed every surviving piece of French organ music from the 17th and 18th centuries on the Cliquot organ of St Nicolas des Champs.’ Ref: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/François-Henri_Clicquot

The small town of Ørje, Norway found a way to spice up one of its crosswalks—pedestrians wishing to cross must do so using a silly walk. The town's mayor didn't seem to mind the silliness. "Clearly, one should listen to the authorities, but this kind of fun should be allowed", the mayor said. "You cannot just be square, right?"[9] https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ministry_of_Silly_Walks -

Really I can’t. Just that, even against some resistance from my inner self, I seem to be regaining some investment in the deeper strains of meaning buried down there within what is popularly termed ‘Christianity.’
