Riobard, i am on Calle 57 between 64 & 66 about 12 blocks or so from where you were! I am about 3 blocks to the Cathedral/town square. as far as insects go, I have never had a problem as i have it checked weekly during the summer by a pest control service for my own benefit as well as those renters on airbnb.

BTW, Merida has been featured in the past year in Many articles regarding “Best places to visit” , “ To buy”, etc this article is from the New York Post and they used a photo of My House for the article that i had no knowledge of! The photo came off the brochure, that was used to sell the house(to me).

Santa ana, Santa Lucia, Santiago. all neighborhoods in Centro. within walking distance to over a 100 restaurants and about as many bars. My place is on the boundary between Santa Lucia and Santiago. i should add that the stripper pictured i have known 2-1/2 years and is a regular and a super nice guy!

Numazu1 was at my place a few months ago and he was hooking up regularly on Grindr!? Here is one photo i can share of one of the local strippers...

while i love Brazil as everyone knows, the weather can be hot there in their summer! Merida typically has beautiful December’s! little to no rain and daytime temps in the low to mid 80’s, nighttime in the 60’s. definitely no lack of bttms! The one caveat is while you will find guys, it is easier if you already know some guys as Merida operates more on the Referral system when you are trying to meet a number of guys! I was lucky in that i knew a number of people that lived there and threw a few parties to get to know different people, after that it has been easy! Grindr is very popular there!

i will try to put the speculation to rest! there is a location and building that Rudolfo has leased! As everyone who has delt with or knows someone who has done business space remodeling, it NEVER goes as planned or according to the time line! I have seen the location it is not as big as Lagoa, but i am sure there will be plenty enough room to enjoy yourselves! There will be the usual gripes and comparisons to the old lagoa but in the end it is a lot better then having another sauna disappear without being replaced, so have a Caipirinha and enjoy! -
Thank you but Legendary just means i have been around a long time and i am “Old”! lol My first trip to Rio was October 2001, when i went on vacation there with a BF and this is the 18th anniversary of that trip. After my first day there i thought i had died and gone to heaven! I went back in April of 2002 and then roughly every 3 months since! i am a big HO and i love it! I thought buying a 2nd home in Mexico would cut back on my Brazil trips... but not so far, all it’s done is enable me to see my Brazilian friends more often as now they fly to Mexico to meet up! This has worked out very well! i am a happy guy!

he has been a “boy” at 117 from about 2006 or so, he is 36 and his name is Issac! he is in Spain right now but is coming back to rio. i was with him in 2006, i didn’t repeat! I should say that he is a nice guy! and is a dancer at many straight and gay events!

I will be arriving in Rio Friday October 25th until Friday November 1st and then to São Paulo for 4 days. i have guys staying with me all the nights i am there but will be at pointe and 117 some nights so happy to meet up. I have stayed in a apt in Ipanema since 2010 most of my visits and will be back there again. Same in SP, i will be at a airbnb i have stayed at in the past. i am meeting with a guy i met in 2004, last saw in late 2005(before this past august)and who contacted me before my last trip in August and we had a great reunion. He is 35 now and more handsome and about 5 lbs overweight and i find him incredibly sexy! He and i are spending 4 days together this upcoming trip. but over the last couple years my type is slowing evolving to guys in their 30’s(a small minority yet but growing!).

117 has been operating 21 consecutive years! and the one huge advantage over its competitors...Monique Owns the building! Something pointe202, Meo mundo and Lagoa don’t which is why they are subject to the owners selling it for a profit when land prices go up as is the case with Lagoa and could be the case with Pointe(the bldg is owned by the family that owns the Atlantic hotels) Also, and this is conjecture on my part, but Monique is married(or was)to a Argentinian Millionaire and doesn’t need 117 to fund her ski trips to Europe or Chile! 117 is special to her and as long as her managers do a adequate job and she makes some money on it she will continue operating it! -
For those who haven’t been there, i would make plans real soon because it may close very soon! Due to Internal strife between the “Owners” it probably has better then a 80% chance of closing by 10/15 I really like the sauna but lack of adequate working capital, plus having owner/management who know nothing about running a sauna and speak Zero Portuguese, i believe imho it is not going to last! when i first got out of college i worked for Dun & Bradstreet evaluating new businesses and rating them for their chance of success. The First Two things you look for are 1) Enough working capital for the first year of operation without having to take out loans(Lions has zero and haven’t paid last months rent!) and 2)Experience in operating the type of business endeavor they are starting! (the one owner has no experience running a Sauna or bar or club...speaks zero Portuguese and a few other issues i won’t state here on a public forum! i hope they make it because Rio could use a new sauna and the facility is really nice!

Reported today: RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - One of the three Bolsonaro sons always tweets or does something you might not believe at first glance. This time it was Carlos, the president's social media expert, who gave his crude opinion on university subjects. City councilor Carlos Bolsonaro said that humanities courses teach "how to have anal sex without feeling pain," in a Twitter post on Sunday, September 22nd, celebrating his father, President Jair Bolsonaro . . .

my friend talked to Rudolfo the owner of Lagoa last night and he told him the remodeling of the new facility is going along well but now the are shooting for a December 15th Grand Opening! So when i am there the first week of November i will be saying farewell visit to the old place with many fond memories over the past 18 years i have been going there!

For the most part that is true! Guys are usually there with friends. I think all of us who are “veterans” of Brazil have picked up a guy or Three off the beach but definitely not for people who are new or not well acquainted with the Rio scene! i would highly recommend you stick to the sauna selections until you get to know some of the garotos well and they can advise you. i gave this same advise to two guys from LA a few years ago, they were both in their 40’s, well built and gdlkg, and had travelled a lot, they of course didn’t listen to my advise and were staying at the Copacabana Palace. they went to the beach, picked up a couple of guys they spent the afternoon with at the beach and then invited them back to their hotel! they awoke the the next morning with a headache from the “Boa Noite Cinderella” they had ingested and with everything of value stolen including clothes, shoes, etc. this in a hotel that has more stringent security then most! It makes no difference if you are gdlkg, well built, younger, they are not interested in you but only in what you have! i have a apartment full of guys staying with me when i am in Rio or SP, BUT...I have 1)either known them for a long time or 2) they are referred by someone i trust 3)they are vouched for by one of my regulars! is this fool proof? nope nothing is but it certainly reduces your risk significantly! i have been doing this since i started using Airbnb’s around 2009 and have never had a problem(and that is a fairly large number of guys!) have fun! -
