  1. Is this the same as the original 'Pong 'who used to write completely indecipherable messages? I think I met him once in a bar. He was with a long gone (from this board) writer on the board Sanitaree Napkin, or something like that.
  2. Pong 1 ?
  3. Yes Peter. I was mentally comparing it to the situation at U.K.'s hospitals with patients waiting up to a couple of days for attention. I agree that English is a problem but everybody seems eager to assist. I accompany my Thai friend and he arrives and puts his I.D. card into one of dozens of registration machines (always someone there to help). He then gets a yard long strip of 'till receipt' strip of printed paper' with detailed step by step instructions of everything to do that day. I half heartedly asked the girl helping if they had an English version and she said "no problem" , pushed a button and out came a similar strip, all in English. Surely the biggest problem there is the dozens of packed lifts.
  4. AI?
  5. Thanks DD for the link. I don't know if you know that district but the hospital is huge, no HUGE. Very modern and if you go into the outpatient's department it is so clean (polished marble etc.) but HUNDREDS of people milling there. Everybody coming to assist. I'm very good with my helpless farang act (not so much of an act these days). Sorry, I'm drifting off topic again The site stretches from Silom up to Siam incorporating the university. I was curious and asked Google how many staff work there. Their reply was that there were no figures separating university and medical staff but the total was 37,000!
  6. ????????
  7. You seem to know me so well. But who mentioned stairs? I'm certainly older than you, in fact 18 months older than God.
  8. There are Pulse clinics all over. At least one listed in Pattaya and a few in Bangkok. Even one on Silom close to Soi 2 and another near to where I live in a very Japanese neighbourhood.
  9. Oh, do tell. give examples. Even in my crustiness, I'm eager to learn and from an eminent pedagogue such as yourself, I'd be so honoured.
  10. Never tried itπŸ˜‚
  11. Good and informative post. I'd just like to sing the praises of The Red Cross Anonymous Clinic.. I went there for an H.I.V. test on the advice from a doctor at Chulaloncorn Hospital ("It's cheaper there than here and we are the same organisation"). (actually 210 Baht and the results either personally or by email one hour later) To find the clinic, (walking) follow the skytrain above you to half way between Sala Daeng and Ratchadamri stations. It is under the water towers on your left. Cannot miss it. Everyone there, from doorman to nurse are so nice and helpful. Being a crusty old fart, I had trouble filling the registration form but a lady went out of her way to help me, so it might be an idea to register earlier online. The clinic(Red Cross) and Chula hospital (Chula university) seem to be the same organisation BUT who owns whom? Sorry to go off piste a little but does anyone know if they also do non sexual blood tests like cholesterol, blood glucose etc.?
  12. Would have... could have... should have or if short of characters ... would've etc..πŸ˜‚
