Yes...but I do not want to get a reputation for handing out gobs of cash. It chafes at me that you get charged extra for labor but what can you do? I would like this presented as a proper “gift” especially since this particular boy with the baby is not an off, merely an occasional drinking companion (for which he does not get tip, only drinks - another story entirely why I am buying gift for a boy I do not off). He and his young girlfriend have some personal circumstances that I feel sorry for. And hopefully if gold, it will not be spent immediately the following day but held on to for real emergencies.

You did not mention which day of the week you arrive. If you arrive on Friday, definitely get a hotel transfer. Many taxi drivers will either be stuck in the city or may decide not to go to the airport due to congestion, leading to a longer taxi queue. The last time I landed on a Friday, I thought to save the US$ 40 a transfer would cost, as that would pay for cover charge and lavish tips for mamasan and wait staff, winning me the favourite customer accolade for the night. 30 minutes in the hot and humid taxi queue later, surrounded by screaming tourists, and I was willing to be Scrooge of the bar.

Recently I heard of a China customer who “sponsored” his boy to stop work and gave him a card from a Chinese bank. The card had no name, only a string of numbers and Union Pay logo, but apart from this was a proper glossy chipped card from a big banking corporation. At first I found this very unusual but now thinking back, this must have been an ATM card rather than a personalised credit card, that boy could withdraw his monthly salary with. Because of China money transfer restrictions, the customer must have felt this was the best way to fund the boy.

Hi spoon, all very good points. I was thinking in terms of a travel or medical related emergency, rather than Ikea! Boy is also quite responsible so I trust him not to splurge on big ticket items. Has anyone bought a gold necklace for boy before and what is the price for one of decent quality? I am increasingly thinking it may be better to offer a “gift”. I do not want to give him cash outright as that may affect expectations of his regular tip.

Well I am sitting in the airport for the next 2 hours and have nothing to do apart from spam this thread LOL. The first teaser for the Songkran photo shoot is now on the FB page. All 14 models were called in to shoot all day, we will soon be treated to sexy brief shots, fun Songkran pics with water pistols, and a big group photo in Loy Krathong traditional outfits. Mamasan says new model Lucky is very skilled in the bedroom and quietly becoming one of the most popular models.

On Babe, Moonlight mamasan says his recent travels to Taiwan and Japan were fully paid for by customers not “working vacations” - I thought the Taiwan trip could have been for more Bang magazine photo shoots but that is not the case. The mamasans have Babe’s full nude pictures on their phones which they use to offer him to customers. I wonder if it doesn’t feel odd to him, knowing all the staff (including gay waiters!) have his full frontal pictures to hand which they show off to all and sundry!

I believe the qualifier was “sexual contact”. I tip waiters because they are on low salaries and do not get many offs. I tip a mamasan who has been helpful in obtaining me a seat and service on busy nights, non-pushy (if I am new to bar), or a regular mamasan. Sadly I do not like my regular mamasan in Jupiter so I get annoyed having to tip him! But he ensures I am seated and hosted so I tip moderately for service, same as I would in a restaurant. I do NOT tip other mamasans in bars where I already know one mamasan and it annoys me to no end when customers are short and they start to hover around hoping for more handouts.

Yes this is a problem. Boys keep completely different waking hours to us. If we’ve been out for drinks the night before, my regular can sleep until 2 PM. If I wake him up because I’m hungry and need to leave the room to eat or simply would like his daytime company on my too-short Bangkok trip, he’s non-functional and sleep walks through the day. Doesn’t help his mood either. I’ve since learned to wake him up around 11 am, feed him (an early lunch works for me too before places get crowded), send him home and meet again in the evening. As for 5 am offs, well they can leave at 5 am if they like. But since I will not be awake to pay them, they will not get paid!

Based on what Paul1981 reported and mamasan’s “wink wink nudge nudge” (and I am 100% sure they were singing a very different tune last year, saying only women offs - things appear to have changed in very recent times) I assume he now asks the same as other models, around 4-5K baht? Particularly if it’s just a jerk off session. I’ll reply again in main Moonlight thread as it seems more appropriate to chat about Babe there.

That’s very decent for a Sunday night. I recall last year visiting between Sunday-Tuesday and there would be maybe 20 or 25 customers passing through with no more than 10 seated at any time. Compared to Jupiter which would still manage to be 70% full on Sundays. But I’ve been told Moonlight is pulling bigger crowds these days, not sure if it’s the season or bar is becoming better known.

If you were there then your assessment would be more accurate than mine. I am just going by what I was told that it was a good turn out for a Sunday, most of the seats were filled and a number of regulars showed up. Edit: though I am fairly confident it is correct that there are new Vietnamese boys because I was very proudly informed of this directly by mamasan over Line lol. I didn’t feel able to burst his bubble to say Viet boys are not my cup of tea.

I find the translation feature on social media (eg facebook) completely useless. Sometimes I click on it as I’m curious to read someone’s status or message and I just get gibberish. What on earth is “cuddle baht”. Google translate works at a pinch if I am trying to explain something to a boy. Thai2English is the most helpful if someone Lines me something in Thai and I need to ensure accuracy before responding.

Ok I have a little more news. Over the weekend, Nicky was still allowed to be part of a big Songkran photoshoot with the other models. He will be suspended for the next few weeks and return to work right before the bar’s anniversary and Songkran festivities. Also they have added a number of new Vietnamese boys to the rotation. The bar has been packed every day for the 10.30 PM show, even yesterday, a Sunday.

Just confirmed, the April opening is a big one-year anniversary show. Someone should explain to them “opening” and “anniversary” are different!
