  1. I enjoyed my visit a couple of weeks ago to 39 Underground Sauna near Saphan Khwai BTS station. There was a variety of guys, different ages, body types, etc. Mostly Asian, only a couple other foreigners besides me. I don't think I was charged a different price due to my age (I'm 57). My only complaint was that there were a lot of stairs to navigate.
  2. There are also some checkboxes that have to be ticked. I missed that step the first time. 😁
  3. Thank you! I knew the grand master would have the answer to this question.
  4. Off topic question: Does this forum offer the capability for one to block a user so that their posts are not seen? Asking for a friend...
  5. I was dropped off there on Friday morning and there is a rail and a turnstile that you go through, between the curb where the taxi drops you and the terminal building. Unfortunately it was 4AM and I wasn't thinking to pay attention to how high the rail is or if it appeared to be possible to go the opposite direction through the turnstile.
  6. Yes Quarter Silom, the one by Tawan bar. The thought of not wearing socks when walking on that floor really worried me! 😱 I'm not a room size queen. 😂
  7. So I stayed at the Quarter Hotel on my last night in Bangkok before flying home (less than 12 hours at the hotel). Agree the location can't be beat. But I was stunned at how dirty my socks were after walking around the room for just a few minutes 😱 I might would stay there again, but I don't think for more than one or two nights while passing through. I prefer the Amara, but understand it's probably more pricey than what the OP is asking about.
  8. One more thing I did on this trip that I had not done before ... made use of motorcycle taxi's! It was a lot of fun and so simple, especially with the Grab app. No need to worry about communicating in Thai, just select where you want to go on the app and they get you there. And many of the drivers were cute!
  9. I don't know if you are into gay sauna's. I ended up at one unexpectedly on my last trip. I was scoping out the massage shops at Saphan Khwai and stumbled across the 39 Underground Sauna. Even though it didn't have great reviews online, I decided to check it out. It was really packed on a Friday afternoon (it was a holiday that day, so maybe that's why). Big variety of guys, mostly Asian (I met a really nice guy from Myanmar), only a couple of other foreigners besides me. There are several other sauna's too, some of which are closer to the Silom area.
  10. Well I am still a Tawan virgin. I think I was there a bit too early (around 7PM). I was approached by one boy in front of Tawan who wanted me to off him, but he wasn't my type. Didn't appear to be any others there. I ended up going to Arena and had a great time. Will have to look forward to Tawan on a future trip.
  11. Hey, so I am a Tawan virgin. 😂. Is it possible to off one of them for short time earlier in the evening before the show? Planning ahead for this Thursday evening..
  12. That's hilarious, thanks for sharing.
  13. This reminds me a little bit of my first trip to Thailand. I was in Phuket and went to a massage place, told them I wanted a male therapist. I'm confident the mamasan understood but after I'm on the table a female comes in the room. I kind of threw a fit, and a male was then sent in. Sadly the massage was just a massage, and a very mediocre one at that.
  14. So what do you guys do if the taxi driver refuses to use the meter? Last time I was there the driver started to go without turning the meter on. I reminded him, and he turned it on, but I sensed he wasn't happy. Shortly after (I think we were still in that area where you get the taxis, or at least hadn't gone far) he started pleading with me to NOT use the meter. I finally gave in and said ok, but am sure I probably paid more than if the meter had been used. It was the middle of the night and I just wanted to get to my hotel. What should I do next time if this happens?
  15. Yes I do.
  16. Is it true you have to jump over a railing or go wrong way through a turnstile or something to get to that drop off area? I thought I read that somewhere, maybe on Trip Advisor..
  17. Have any of you purchased Doxycycline in Bangkok? If so, is there a reputable pharmacy you recommend and is it a straight forward process (just walk in and tell them what you want)? Thanks in advance!
  18. I wish you would post the pictures now so that the rest of us can steer clear of him. btw I'm not very active here but I love reading your posts.
  19. One time I was in India, staying at a luxury hotel in Chennai, the room cleaner on my floor found me on Grindr and we hooked up in my room. 😃
  20. Even with lights I'm not confident vehicles will stop. And then the lights change without much warning. Last trip (couple weeks ago) at that very same intersection the light changed when I was halfway across and traffic started moving immediately (but still let me finish crossing)
  21. I too am terrified crossing the streets of Bangkok.
  22. Thanks Vinapu and Paborn for the replies. Nantra and Raya were both sold out for Saturday night. I wasn't loving the reviews for Suriwongse, so I ended up booking the Tarntawan.
  23. I will be back in Bangkok for one night on Saturday before I head home Sunday morning. As I have an early'ish flight (940am - early for me) I had planned to stay near the airport but now decided I want to stay near the action. Anyone recommend one of the above hotels over the other? Or another hotel in the area?
  24. And this morning I didn't log in at all and I'm DenverDude again...
