From Pattaya Mail By Barry Kenyon The past six months have witnessed a huge after-dark suppression policy which has involved thousands of police and dozens of entertainment spots nationwide. The ongoing operation is part of the “5-Free” policy trying to ensure that nightery venues are child-free, drug-free, weapons-free, prostitution-free and safe. The categories were formally adopted as government policy last September. The policy was first announced by interior minister Anutin Charnvirakul whose deputies have even supervised some of the police raids. These included the closing of a pub in Pattaya after over 200 customers were found to have purple urine, indicating drugs use such as ketamine and methamphetamines. Although the campaign has been national, Pattaya seems to have borne the brunt with over 20 known raids on licensed premises. In most cases the authorities had been informed by “concerned citizens”, a group which likely included business enemies as well as worthy opponents of moral turpitude. What’s new about the 2024 crackdown is the large variety of police and civilian agencies attending the scene. They have included local, provincial and immigration police as well as Bangkok-based units such as the anti-trafficking police and the Central Investigation Bureau. These have been accompanied by senior officers of the civilian Department of Employment and the Department of Provincial Administration. The latter is responsible for the licensing of all clubs in a particular district. This inter-agency cooperation, unprecedented in its evolving scope, has been encouraged by Cabinet members who are keen to see a “cleaner” image for Pattaya in particular. Most of the 1,500 or so individuals arrested in these Pattaya raids were Thais, but around 300 foreigners, including westerners, were found to have recently used drugs. On December 11th, concerned residents reported to The Pattaya News that they found several used condoms scattered on the ground near a pile of railway pillows at the Pattaya Railway Station’s multipurpose area. The residents were concerned that the area could become a breeding ground for infectious diseases and negatively affect the city’s image as a family-friendly tourist destination, as the area is frequented by tourists. Upon inspection, The Pattaya News reporters found used condoms, wrappers, and tissues scattered across the ground and on the concrete railway pillows. The area is also very unsanitary, with the smell of decay and the presence of flies. A local resident (name withheld upon request) shared that the area is frequently used by people for exercise in the early morning and evening. However, they were shocked to find numerous used condoms. The resident suspected that groups of people have been using the area for sexual activity and discarding their condoms afterward. They called on relevant authorities to investigate the issue to protect the nearby community and the city’s image.

It’s amazing how quickly they ruled out foul play. From Pattaya Mail A 52-year-old Finnish man tragically died after falling from the 11th floor of a condominium building on Pattaya Second Road on the night of December 10. At the scene, emergency services discovered the body of the deceased, identified as Tero Sakari Karppinen. The body was found in a horrific condition, with severe injuries, a scene that left even security staff shaken. Security personnel initially thought someone had dropped garbage from the building due to the height of the structure, which has 27 floors. However, upon closer inspection, he was horrified to realize it was a human body. The staff immediately contacted local authorities and rescue teams. The cause of the fall remains under investigation. Authorities are exploring whether it was an accident or a case of suicide. Police are awaiting the results of an autopsy from the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the Police General Hospital to determine the exact cause of death. The deceased’s family will be contacted to retrieve the body for funeral arrangements according to their religious practices.

When walking back to my place I dropped in and was shown three rooms ranging from 899 to 2499. it appears the interior was gutted with new stairwells and flooring. The least expensive rooms are similar to smallest Ibis and Quarter Silom rooms. The mid-range (1299) was a rear facing room with queen bed, larger bathroom. It would be my value choice. The front facing rooms (2499) are most spacious but may prove nosier because of traffic. All rooms I was shown had windows. The plan to be listing on Agoda within a month or so. From Patttaya News Findings on Young Thai Singers Death The Udon Thani Provincial Public Health Office has officially released the autopsy results concerning the untimely death of 20-year-old Thai pop singer Chayada Prao-hom, known affectionately in Thailand as Ping Chayada. Chayada passed away early on December 8th, 2024, after a series of complications following massage treatments in Udon Thani. According to Dr. Somchaichote Piyawatwela, the provincial health chief, the autopsy confirmed that Chayada died from septicemia, commonly known as blood poisoning. The examination was prompted by the need to understand the exact cause of her rapid health decline, which was originally allegedly linked to intense massage sessions she sought for shoulder and neck pain. Chayada visited a local massage parlor three times starting in early October, as we reported here. The first session allegedly included neck-twisting techniques, after which she experienced severe neck pain. Subsequent sessions led to progressive symptoms, including arm numbness, overall body stiffness, and ultimately, paralysis. She was diagnosed with transverse myelitis, a condition characterized by inflammation of the spinal cord, which was not initially connected to her neck pain. Chayada’s condition worsened significantly; she experienced a seizure on November 18, necessitating emergency hospital care. She was admitted to the ICU at Udon Thani Hospital on November 22, where she later succumbed to the blood infection. The autopsy findings revealed no cervical bone fractures or dislocations, thereby ruling out direct physical trauma from the massages as the cause of death. Instead, the blood poisoning, potentially worsened by her bedridden state and the complications from transverse myelitis, was identified as the primary cause. Dr. Somchaichote noted that while the massages might not have directly caused her death, the sequence of events following the treatments could have contributed to her health’s rapid decline. He stressed the importance of an autopsy in such cases to provide clarity and closure to the family and to understand any preventive measures that could be taken in similar situations. Additionally, the massage parlor where Chayada received her treatments was reported to employ licensed therapists, but questions remain about whether the techniques used adhered strictly to traditional Thai massage standards. Meanwhile, representatives from the Thai massage industry have stressed that the industry is safe and responded to concerns officially. Chayada’s family, after discussions, decided against requesting a further autopsy, focusing instead on mourning and preparations for Chayada’s cremation.

Following a directive from the National Police Chief to intensify the fight against transnational crime, CIB’s Human Trafficking Division tracked online platforms and uncovered a network using Thailand as a base to produce and distribute pornography worldwide. The police obtained court warrants and raided several locations, resulting in the arrest of seven suspects. The first suspect, Benjamin, a British national, was apprehended at Suvarnabhumi Airport. He was responsible for creating content that enticed Thai women to ride tuk-tuks before engaging in sexual acts at tourist locations, which he advertised on X (formerly Twitter) and shared on his website, with over 140,000 followers. The second suspect, Volker, a German national, was arrested at his residence in Banglamung, Chonburi. He created content featuring foreign nationals having sex with transgender individuals who had not undergone gender confirmation surgery. This content was shared on X and the OnlyFans platform, reaching over 150,000 followers. Two Thai transgender individuals were also arrested for their involvement. The third suspect, Svezdan, a Serbian national, was arrested at a condo in Banglamung. He produced content involving foreign tourists and Thai women or transgender individuals engaging in sexual acts, including collaborations with famous Thai sex creators. His content, shared across X, Instagram, TikTok, and OnlyFans, amassed over 200,000 followers. The fourth suspect, Andrei, a Russian national, was apprehended at a condo on Rama 4 Road. He created group sex content with foreign nationals and Thai individuals, which was then promoted on social media with over 600,000 followers. Thai nationals Thanasilp, 30, and Saengthian, 26, were arrested at different locations for creating similar content involving male participants. They filmed explicit acts and promoted them online, charging viewers for access to exclusive groups. The final suspect, Rattana, a 36-year-old Thai woman, was arrested in Banglamung. She produced content promoted on X and OnlyFans, gaining over 200,000 followers. Of the six suspects arrested, all confessed to the charges, except Benjamin, who denied distributing the videos, claiming he only filmed them and sent them to a friend abroad for uploading.
