  1. "Twink gay slang for a young man in his late teens to early twenties whose traits may include: general physical attractiveness; little to no body or facial hair; a slim to average build; and a youthful appearance that belies an older chronological age." Wikipedia. If that fits your definition, also, then they can be found at most massage shops with a handful of exceptions such as Arena. In Silom and Surawong, just walk around and you'll find them mixed in with the occasional hunk. There's a chain of places called Art Massage with outlets on both sides of Surawong and at least one on Silom near the BTS stop. Haven't seen any of their shops that didn't have a good twink quota. I think the one on Soi Tarntawan (opposite Tawan bar) might be one of their better offerings. Further down the same soi you'll find Indra Massage that always seems to have a handful of cute guys available. On Silom, just stroll the street from about Burger King to Soi 4 and you find a score of shops. When Bangkok Massage gets its new location fitted out on Patpong 2, check it out and I don't think you'll be disappointed. Forum member Divine Madman is the resident authority on shops all over town. 3. From Khaosod English (19 Apr.) BANGKOK — A former border police commander has been named head of the immigration bureau, replacing ex-cop Surachate Hakparn whose downfall remains a topic of speculation. Maj. Gen. Sompong “Big Oud” Chingduang’s appointment was announced by deputy junta chairman Prawit Wongsuwan after a meeting with other police officials that lasted about 45 minutes. Sompong is currently in charge of the Border Patrol Police. The appointment came after Surachate was abruptly removed from all positions in the police force earlier this month without any explanation. A meeting to appoint his successor was initially scheduled for April 9, but was postponed at the last minute. The removal order did not mention if Surachate fan afoul of any laws or regulations. Gen. Prawit said today there won’t be a disciplinary inquiry into Surachate’s tenure. “There won’t be any,” Prawit, who oversees police affairs, said in response to reporters’ questions. “It’s over.” Once one of the most visible faces of the police force, Surachate has rarely been seen in public since he was transferred to civilian roles on April 6. His public Facebook profile has also been taken down. Latest media reports say the 49-year-old is “on vacation” in the U.S. The new chief of the immigration bureau did not speak to reporters today. Born to a military family in Lopburi province, Sompong joined the police after graduating from the Armed Forces Preparatory School. Sompong rose to fame in a command in the southern border region, where he was credited with capturing many secessionist militants active in the area. He was later appointed deputy head of the Crime Suppression Division, where he oversaw a number of high-profile murder cases. His other postings include the riot police, the criminal investigation unit, and – most recently – the border police. http://www.khaosodenglish.com/politics/2019/04/19/govt-names-replacement-for-big-joke/
  4. From The Nation (19 Apr.) Thailand’s summer will continue to be hotter than the same period last year “It will be about one or two degrees Celsius hotter,” the department’s director-general Phuwieng Prakhammintara said onFriday. The mercury is expected to soar past 42 degrees Celsius in seven provinces, namely Mae Hong Son, Lampang, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Tak, Nakhon Sawan and Kanchanaburi. On Thursday, Lampang’s Thoen district was the hottest place in the country, with the mercury hitting to 44.2 degrees Celsius. This was the highest temperature in the history of the northern province, which previously had recorded a top reading of 43.8 degrees Celsius. The temperature has not yet broken the country’s record for hottest day, which was recorded at 44.6 degrees Celsius in Mae Hong Son province on April 28, 2016. Phuwieng said that the sun would be perpendicular to and at the shortest distance from Bangkok on April 27, raising the possibility that it would be the hottest day of the year. “But the forecast suggests it will rain between April 25 and 27 and that may help reduce the heat,” he said. http://www.nationmultimedia.com/detail/breakingnews/30367965
  5. From Bloomberg News (18 Apr.) First Japan-Built Airliner in 50 Years Takes on Boeing and Airbus A new, long-delayed 88-passenger jet from Japan may finally be the right plane at the right time. More cities in Asia and Europe are seeking to link up with each other and the global air travel network. The Mitsubishi Regional Jet, the first airliner built in Japan since the 1960s, began certification flights last month in Moses Lake, Washington, to satisfy that demand. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd.’s new airliner is testing the skies just as rivals are moving to sell off their manufacturing operations for jets with up to 160 seats. Boeing Co. is set to buy 80 percent of the Embraer SA’s commercial operations in a joint venture, while Bombardier Inc. last year sold control of its C Series airliner project to Airbus SE and is exploring “strategic options” for its regional-jet operations. At stake, particularly in the market for jets with fewer seats, is $135 billion in sales in the two decades through 2037, according to industry group Japan Aircraft Development Corp. “Bombardier’s moves do indeed create opportunities for the MRJ,’’ said Richard Aboulafia, aerospace analyst at Teal Group. “It’s the biggest single factor in the MRJ’s favor.’’ With few seats and smaller fuselages, regional jets are a different class of aircraft from larger narrow-body planes such as Boeing’s 737 or Airbus’s A320. The MRJ has a range of about 2,000 miles, while a smaller variant can haul up to 76 people for about the same distance. A longtime supplier of aircraft components to Boeing, Mitsubishi Heavy is developing the MRJ to emerge from its customer’s shadow. After spending at least $2 billion over more than a decade, the manufacturer is looking to get its jet certified and start deliveries to launch partner ANA Holdings Inc. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-04-17/first-japan-built-airliner-in-50-years-takes-on-boeing-airbus
  6. I think nude performances are most appreciated when the dancers know they have the body and skill for it. I found that there was always some to be found on Twilight who fit that bill. Seeing guys who lack confidence put on display simply to extend the show doesn't enhance the experience But when I see dancers who are really into it I'm far more inclined to sit back and enjoy the show--and buy that second drink.
  7. From The Nation (18 Apr.) The Maya Bay beach, which has been closed to the public since last year to allow coral restoration and beach recovery, would remain closed to visitors indefinitely, the head of Hat Noppharat Thara–Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park, Woraphot Lomlim, said. After 10 months of being closed, nature is slowly rehabilitating itself, Woraphot said, citing the return of reef sharks and ghost crabs to the area while the 23,000 pieces of coral that were planted were growing. The bay with sugary-white beach and beautiful coral reef -- located in the Phi Phi islands between Krabi and Phuket -- was made famous by the 2000 Hollywood film “The Beach” starring Leonardo Di Caprio, but was battered by the year-round tourist traffic. During peak times, Maya Bay reportedly received as many as 5,000 visitors a day. As the nature and ecology there were in a critical condition, the authority announced the closure of May http://www.nationmultimedia.com/detail/national/30367887
  8. From Bangkok Post (17 Apr.) The cabinet has conditionally approved a plan to add a new runway at Suvarnabhumi airport to ease air traffic congestion at the main gateway to Thailand. The cost of the planned third runway is estimated at 21 billion baht, including financial compensation for local residents who would be affected by the noise from planes taking off and landing. Suvarnabhumi has two runways, one to the east of the terminal building and the other to the west. Together, they can handle 63 flights per hour -- but capacity is halved if one has to be closed for maintenance. The new runway will be built parallel to the western runway. After construction is completed, the airport would be able to can service 94 flights every hour with all three runways in operation. https://www.bangkokpost.com/business/tourism-and-transport/1662840/cabinet-approves-new-suvarnabhumi-airport-runway
  9. From BBC (17 Apr.) The men leading Japan's surprising sex recession Yohdi Kondo is part of the growing sex recession trend in Japan and does not understand why people are in relationships and have sex. He prefers to read comic books and hang out with friends and family. Continues with video https://www.bbc.com/reel/video/p076n241/the-men-leading-japan-s-surprising-sex-recession
  10. Apparently the manager experienced some difficulties with his stable to the point he found them just too hard to manage. At least that's what was reported on another board. I, too, was a fan of the place for a few years but found that the selection and service began to fall off and started giving it a miss.
  11. Since neither of your posts represent wit or wisdom, I suggest you ask yourself if you really want to travel further down the road of posting yet more religiously intolerant remarks. Although a predominantly Buddhist nation, Thailand welcomes those of all religious beliefs. When you target one particular faith for your volatile remarks, you lower yourself--and the forum--below that standards of acceptance and inclusiveness, the very trademarks of a gay-oriented website like this

  13. Naked guys on stage can be titillating, but for my money some of the hottest guys on Twilight were the waiters at X-boys who were attired in black jeans and black or white shirts. Somehow I find guys in street clothes sexier than than I do those in underwear--or sans. Still enjoy the thrill of discovery that comes back in the room. Like opening a nicely wrapped package. It's not just you who don't see freelancers in Silom Complex like back in the day when they congregated around the escalators and elsewhere. Thank smart phones and beefed up security for that. But I continue to find them on the streets and occasionally on the BTS and in the 7-11 after hours. Could not agree more.
  14. Well, it's been the subject--in this very thread--for a year now so not all that "suddenly so sudden". As far as Patpong 2 being a "str8" location, Bangkok is the last place on earth that I'd consider straight 8. I think this is as close as you'll likely come to a true "str8" in the LOS...

  16. The plight of stateless youth was placed in the spotlight during the Wild Boars saga. Eventually those team members who were stateless were granted Thai identity documents. Many members in The 13 thread who had commented on this should be heartened to learn that another young man has received the same good news. From The Nation (15 Apr.) So-called "rootless" people, those who were born in Thailand but abandoned at birth and thus have no Thai identification number or household document, can now file for birth certificates and apply for Thai nationality, according to a new law that has been published in the Royal Gazette and comes into effect this week. The new edition of Civil Registration Act also allows the "rootless" people to change names, last names and information to appear on the household documents, although those staying in a house or on land over which they had no ownership will only get receive temporary household documents. On April 11, Bangkok's Sathorn District Office issued a Thai national identification card to 18-year-old Kittipat (last name withheld) who has been under care of the Social Development and Human Security Ministry since he was abandoned at birth at Samut Sakhon's Ban Phaew Hospital. The Mathayom 5 schoolboy, who is also a school athlete and marching band member, currently resides at the Mahamek Home for Boys in Sathorn. "I'm so glad to be granted Thai nationality because, as a stateless child, I would not have been able to continue with tertiary education or work. Now I have Thai nationality, I will study hard to get into a university to study engineering so I can be a lecturer in the field," he said. Surapong Kongchantuk, a lawyer who helps stateless and displaced people, explained that Kittipat was qualified to receive Thai nationality under the December 7, 2016 Cabinet Resolution that allows Thailand-born "rootless" people to apply for Thai nationality. Ban Mahamek submitted the boy's application on January 11 and he received his ID card on April 11, Surapong said. The lawyer said that he would hold a workshop at the end of May for social welfare administrators and officials so they could help "rootless" children living at centres to apply for Thai nationality. http://www.nationmultimedia.com/detail/national/30367725
  17. Think I understand now why you’ve become flustered over this. You seem to have endured an emotionally wrenching laundry experience at some point. Allow me to suggest a solution that should alleviate both your fear of laundry uncertainty and your friend’s irritability about being ignored. As soon as your friend’s next off completes his obligation, have him immediately delivered to your hotel. In return for the privilege of luxuriating in your tub, he takes your soiled stuff to the nearest coin-operated, DIY facility and returns it neatly folded. There is no need to thank me.

  19. If you get a club room, it will have a sleek new tub in addition to the shower stall. I'm never disappointed if a guy wants to hang around and enjoy the amenities. I'll gladly accommodate those he ejects

  21. From CNBC (14 April) Singapore’s Changi Airport, called the world’s best airport, now touts the world’s tallest indoor waterfall Singapore’s Changi Airport has long been touted as the “best airport in the world.” That status becomes even more cemented on April 17, when it will officially open a dazzling presecurity attraction known as Jewel. Inside is a lush four-story tiered garden, more than 280 retail and dining outlets, a hotel, a multi-screen IMAX theater and its centerpiece: a 130-foot-tall Rain Vortex, which is the world’s tallest indoor waterfall. The next phase of the project rolls out in June, when Jewel Changi Airport opens a bundle of added features (many ticketed) to the public, including a 164-foot-long glass-bottomed bridge, nets for bouncing and walking, mazes, topiary sculptures and more. Housed inside a toroidal, or doughnut-shaped, glass and steel structure designed by noted architect Moshe Safdie, Jewel Changi Airport is adjacent to Terminal 1 and sits on airport real estate that was formerly a parking lot. The striking new structure now covers more than 1.46 million square feet. It has 10 stories — five above ground and five below — and was built on budget, at a cost of $1.7 billion Singapore dollars (US$1.25 billion). https://www.cnbc.com/2019/04/12/singapores-changi-airport-touts-the-worlds-tallest-indoor-waterfall.html
  22. It rarely gets mentioned but I find the Amara hotel (on Surawong immediately before Red Planet) an excellent choice for quality and value. Wonderfully comfortable bed, modern decor and a short walk to Patpong area. There's a rooftop infinity pool and adequate gym. The buffet breakfast is served in large dining room. Hotel website and Expedia offer good range of prices. Guests are no problem. Club level rooms available and worth the splurge. The lounge is on the 20th floor and has an outdoor terrace.
  23. It's not unusual when your best offs turn out not to be the most handsome guys with the greatest bodies.

It is depressing for members who frequented Twilight over the years to experience its demise. The new venues will quickly learn what the market will bear in terms of prices. Some may fail while others will prosper. Let's give it a chance to play out.
  25. From Coconuts Bangkok (11 Apr.) Some of those who escaped the acrid smoke and flames at CentralWorld last night took to social media today to criticize the mall’s alarm and evacuation systems. In numerous posts, people who were inside the shopping mall when the fire started just before 6pm said that if they heard any, there was a long delay before alarms went off and the evacuation order given – something the mall this morning chalked up to a system design to minimize chaos. “I work here. I don’t even know what happened,” mall employee @Sone09_0805 tweeted. “There was no alarm to warn us. There was an announcement, but it was very quiet. The security guards in the mall were also nowhere to be found. I only found out about the fire when smoke reached the store I worked at. I almost didn’t make it out in time.” Facebook user Air Jariyaporn Wongsawad wrote that she was on the mall’s fifth floor with her two children when she noticed several people rushing to get out. That was when a passerby told her there was fire. “I was pretty shaken up because I had two kids with me. What confuses me, though, is why I didn’t hear a fire alarm at all. Was I too far from where the fire started?” she wrote. We’ve reached out to several of those who shared complaints for more information but received not responses by publication time. Mall owner Central Pattana said the mall’s size is a factor in how its emergency system operates in a statement this morning seeming to address the criticism. “Since the mall is so big and has many exits, we had to divide our alarm system into many sections. Thus, our alarms don’t go off at once, but in a specific order to avoid chaos and accidents during evacuation,” it said in the statement. Another Facebook user, Soda Zonic, posted footage of people evacuating while no audible alarm could be heard. “There’s so much smoke,” he can be heard saying in the clip. He added the following caption to the video: “I’m still confused about the CentralWorld Fire: There were no alarms The announcement was extremely delayed Many of the entrance/exit doors suddenly closed without an announcement. We could only exit through the front of the mall.” Spanning more than 500,000sqm, CentralWorld is one of Bangkok’s largest shopping malls.
