Amazing Thailand: 25 percent of worldwide HDD production,
colmx replied to TotallyOz's topic in Gay Thailand
Surely "the cloud" is nothing more than a bunch of hard disks and processors in a giant warehouse in Utah the British Midlands or the Ukraine? All the innovators have done is taken the HD out of peoples machines and put them someplace else... Same with cloud servers - a cloud server will never beat a physical server, after all what is a cloud server? Its a resouce pool carved out of a physical server in the first place! -
There is no "thai price" in Sansuk The discount price is for under 25s (thai or farang) Entry for over 25s in 180 Under 25s is 100 So they are age-ist - not racist Actually this is the same in most saunas around the world... discount to the young so they will atract in the full price older customers

The venues described by Josan above sound like High class brothels rather than a middle class gay venue Not sure if this is what the OP is looking for though... are you looking for normal gay venues or brothels? I would think Bed Supper club in Bkk is what i would class as a Middle class gay venue: http://www.bedsupperclub.com/bangkok/en/ Its not exclusively gay - but patronised by lot of Middle Class gay guys... Of course the gay ghettos in Rachada Soi 8, Otokor and Ramsari would also be populated by middle class gay guys but they are mainly dance pubs (some with coyotes) and saunas...

HI Anonone Just to clear up another thing - the weekend market is on Theprasitt road - not 3rd road... Thepprasit is the next main intersection running paralell and south of South Pattaya road on the map in 2lz2p's post

Had a 2 hour stopover in Doha on my last trip to Thailand... Its got to be the worst aiport that i have ever visited... filthiest place i have ever seen and all passenger loading/unloading is done by bus as there are no sky Bridges... How in the name of god Qatar got the world cup... i will never know!

I didn't say my post was Objective - I said it was Subjective... My whole point was that one mans meat is another mans poison! Some people love the low old music in Funny Boys. Personally I would prefer it to sound like the music at NAB.
-
On another subjective note... Being in funny boys reminds me of being at a funeral or stuck in supermarket aisle! Music levels are way to low and for me there is no "real" atmosphere... I guess its fine if you want to sit and chat... but its certainly not upbeat! Especially if you want to try and judge the character of a potential off (ie. Is he: shy/quiet/outgoing/crazy/straight etc) Its a pity as Rose has an excellent eye for picking a good range of boys to suit all tastes

Hi GB Found it...and re-voted... Thanks!
-
I accidentally voted: I buy a drink for him, but do not tip him instead of I buy a drink for him and also tip him Please disregard my vote from the final result! Usually I am with my BF... when we both see a guy we agree on will call them over for a drink If we don't click - he gets 100-200B tip as we check bin If we click he is offed and we go to a pub or disco... If we click even futher he comes home and gets a big tip If things don't work out he goes home with 500-600B

Trip report 24.06.2010-07.07.2010 Bangkok Pattaya
colmx replied to ChristianPFC's topic in Gay Thailand
HI Christian Enjoyed your report... Thanks! It seems like you missed our on NAB when you were in Patttaya. It is the night time gay Mecca... so a pity you missed it Think of ICK or Dave man club only bigger and better! Also lots of Bkk students there at the weekend and young SE asians.... Stick it in your diary for the next trip! -
Just to upate this BF is 3 weeks in the monks since today and will be leaving this Thursday... That will mean he spent only 3.5 weeks instead of the planned 3.5 months in the temple... Reasons for leaving: He has been told that he can Leave July 15th... or must stay until November 29th! He reckons he could make it until the end of October... but there is no way he could add that extra month... Apparently there are no auspicious days for him to leave in October or before Nov 29th! Also he has become very disillusioned with life in the monks. he went there expecting to learn in a disciplined environment... Instead all he sees are monks sleeping all day and watching TV in their rooms! Yes they have the early start and are limited to 2 meals a day... but besides that there is nothing to do all day except wait for Asarnha Bucha Day on July 27th In his own words: "i know now that monks are just people, nothing special" On a more positive note... this means i'll be able to visit him for a week at the end of september!
-
Hi All My BF is now a monk and will be there until November 1st at the earliest To Answer GT's original Question... I sent 45,000 at first 10 days ago Then sent 12,000 contingency on Thursday He received 10,000 in donations But was still short 20,000 to pay all the bills (which of course i have had to send today) So total cost was 87,000 Why such a big shortfall? Contributions were much smaller than anticipated... 20B instead of an expected 100B His immediate family and extended family made no contributions at all(despite him contributing to all of theirs) There was also some robbery when it came to alcohol (people coming, leaving 20B and then sneaking off home with whiskey bottles) Of course neither he, his mother nor I were happy with this at all... but he had to go straight to the monks this morning and it does not help to dwell on it as he should not be thinking about this kind of material thing now I should also point out that he did not have the monks come to visit his home... he went to the temple for the Shaving ceremony. If the monks visit the home you can expect to add an additional 5-10,000 to the cost... Anybody want to loan me 20,000B to pay off his debts?
-
Oh and the contingency 12,000 has been sent... And i reckon that still won't be enough
-
To update on my post above... BFs friends from pattaya and relatives all arrived to the village... now its "all hands on deck" to get everything ready for the ceremony (and of course party) I have just learned that BF is not allowed to have sex for 1 week after leaving monastery... so looks like its going to be an even longer seperation than the last worst case scenario.... ah well!

Yes the 1st Visa was very difficult to obtain.. took 2 years... and a battery of paperwork. Most important requirement is a reason to return home... So: -Letter from Employer -Proof of ownership of land/house/condo is generally needed And every year the paperwork requirements become more stringent! If you search for posts under my name with the subject "visa" over on Sawatdee you will find reams of messages about it!

What a timely topic As it happens my BF of nearly 8 years is joining the monks for 4.5 months this weekend He reckons that it will cost 45-50,000 all in for the: -Temple/Monks/Books -Clothes -Food -Drink (a conservative 3 cases of Blend 285 plus mixers) -Stage Hire + Speakers -Show hire -Table and chair hire (240 guests expected) -Invitations -Flowers Tents, cutlery, plates, glasses, and cooking utensils have all come from the temple Labour is provided by the village boys... knowing that he will return the favour when its their turn In fact he's in Arranyaprathet right now buying sea food from the market there The 45,000-50000 is just to get the party going... As guests arrive they will make small contributions (20/40/100B) and this money will be collected and put towards re-stocking food and drink I have 12,000 contingency money put aside for when the initial seed 45,000 runs out... he is woeful at budgeting and always underbudgets He has sent out around 200 invitations (family don't get invites) Including one to me... but i am unable to attend. Yes its all for show but it is what is expected of him... especially as he has a farang... and its something that we have been putting off for years. His cousin's parents spent 100,000 for him to go to the monks last year and they barely have clothes to wear... Seeing as he will be in the temple for 4.5 months I won't have to send him much money every month for household expenses. He also will not be visiting Ireland this year...so the initial outlay for the party will be easily recouped before he gets out.

Took a boy upstairs 3 days ago... they were still charging the 150B then... In fact they have the bill/receipt pre-printed so they can stick it on your Bin before you go upstairs!

Panai: The decoration of a bar and the look of the boys working there can be subjective and up to an individuals taste. Lots of guys there to my taste too... However if a place stinks of Piss ... it stinks of piss... That is a fact that can not be subjective! I thinks its something to do with there being no door (that i know of) between the toilet and the main bar And no amount of air-freshner can cover up that smell...
-
Had A-Bomb in there but accidentally removed it in an edit! Besides that the place smells of Urine!
-
Just to clarify the last point above... The mamasan knew he was only 16 and procured the ID card for him. That was back in 2000 before i met him. It might not be as easy for an underage boy to work in Boyztown now... but it could still happen

Sorry to be pedantic, but.... Boystown only consists of PattayaLand Soi3 Therefore Boystown is: 3 Beer Bars (Oscars, Serene, Panorama) 4 Gogos (BBB, Copa, Funny Boys, ToyBoys) 3 Massage Places (Buyz Gym, Body club and what ever Scandic is called these days) Pattayaland soi 2 is: 2 Gogo bars (Bubbles, Wild West) PattayaLand 1 is 6-8+ Gogo bars (Dreamboys, Starboys,Kawaii Cupidol, Lucky 7, Sawatdee Boys, Dynamite? X-Boys?) 1 beer Bar (is Gentlemans club still open?) 1 Massage (Narcissus) And of course vasa gogo between PattayaLand sois 1 and 2 So yes... there are more Gogo bars in the PattayaLand area than in Sunnee But Boystown itself has less gogos And as I have often pointed out on these forums before... my BF was working in Boystown at 16... so you can't always trust the IDs there either!

Some pics of Phase 1 of BFs house below Note that this part of teh house had no kitchen or internal toilet I reckon this phase cost ~400,000B Its had to tell as it was built over a number of phases: -Initial foundations -Sails (supporting Columns) and Roof -Walls -Window and door frames -Plastering The family moved in at that stage... Boarded up the windows and various holes to the elements Next phase was putting in the doors, tiles and windows Following that it was the Actual Glass in the windows, Painting and Ceilings Finally the electrics (Thai Style ie. not hidden cabling) Was it worth it? Well ultimately it was one of the main factors in hm getting his first Irish visa... so definately worth the effort and money!

I have paid for my BF to build a house (and a subsequent extension!) on his land in Buriram The initial 100,000 that your friend menations above would barely even pay for the foundations to be made for the house! The general rule of thumb is that a house costs 6000B per sqm So the 100K house will be 16sqm (12 ft by 12 ft) First step in building any house is ~100 trucks of soil to build up the height of the site... A good builder will then leave that soil 6 months to settle before starting to build on it At 400-500B per truck - at least half of the budget is blown already! Its quite cheap to throw up a house with bare blocks and a tin roof after that The expensive parts are the finishes: -Plastering -Painting -Ceilings -Electrical install -Doors @1000B each -Windows @1000B each for teh wood -Glass for teh windows -Tiling (price depends on the grade) -Sanitary ware (farang toilet costs a lot more, as does a real sink versus concrete box) -Paths around the house -Electrics (circuit breakers, Switches, sockets, Light fixtures) -Gutters + drain pipes And don't forget the party with the 9 monks to bless the house i think 500,000 is the cheapest that you would get away with for a reasonable size house with: 2 small bedrooms Living room Indoor bathroom Outdoor Kitchen and Terrace And that pre-supposes that you own the land already

count me amongst the Songkran Lovers too! 5 days till I leave Ireland for the Soakfest!

HI GB Thanks for taking the time out to Visit Black Cat Disappointed to hear that it is not a "real" sauna/bathhouse! To be honest I don't really understand what their business model is... Seems like they are a massage house... with sauna facilites.. If thats the case I don't understand what the Thai boys will do that enter for free?! I remember a post from a while back that Ganymede were also opening a sauna soon in The Complex.... did anyone hear any updates about that?
