Is this also rcmmndd if I'm heading straight to Pattaya, or is there a better option in P? If still at the airport, should I notify Mark's taxi in advance (bcs it might cause a delay)?

Bert, I've visited 4 times. Medellin, Cartagena, Bogota. Never felt unsafe. However, since there IS a safety issue, I followed common sense rules pertaining to Latin America. No hay problema. Actually, no habia problema.

Of course, but u r talking quality and I - quantity. The fewer there are, the less a chance to find a treasure. Furthermore: it's depressing to sit in an almost empty venue (not only in this context). The more - the merrier. I'd guess the promiscuous atmosphere in NB, enthusiatically described in the past, doesnt flourish in such a desolate scene. )-:
