  1. Yes, I agree. I have only used the Don Mueang (DMK) airport from Pattaya 1 time (for my trip to Cebu) and it was more painful than going to Suvarnabhumi - as the traffic and smaller roads that you need to use to get to DMK are much more congested than the nice big tollway to Suvarnabhumi. So, a bus to Sukhumvit Road in Pattaya is still acceptable - as long as the bus rider realizes that he/she will need to transfer to another type of ride modality to reach his/her final destination in Pattaya. Which is also true for the other bus if one is not staying near the Jomtien Complex.
  2. I have a couple of virtual cards. I started using them when I started to feel uncomfortable displaying my physical card details when making sensitive transactions. You never know with all of the millions of unseen and anonymous cameras and smart phones around us constantly - who is surveilling us when we make transactions. In my recent experience with my SKRILL debit card being compromised while I was in Cebu where the fraudulent debits were happening at first in Dubai, then in the USA, and then in Canada - it was quite alarming. With the SKRILL fraud team we believe that my debit card details may have been compromised just before I left Thailand for the Philippines, when I received an upsell email from Cebu Pacific with a weblink, which I clicked on, to upgrade my luggage allowance. I remember that my Thai boyfriend was here in my condo room with me and he was helping me to photograph from the weight scale my weight before (not holding my luggage while I was on the scale) and after (with me holding the luggage while I was on the scale) so that we could calculate the delta of the weight difference. Cebu Pacific's base weight limit is 20kg, so I bought additional weight to the maximum of 32kg - even though I only had 28kg for my 62 day trip - as I wanted to have some spare kilos available to me for the return flight in case I bought souvenirs and presents back to Thailand. So, SKRILL thinks that when I entered my debit card details into that weblink to buy more luggage kilos, that my debit card details were somehow compromised. Below is a random image that I captured from the internet - but it illustrates what anyone of my virtual cards would look like in the bank and/or debit/credit card provider app. They present it as looking as the physical card (with certain details intentionally hidden to keep prying eyes and/or surveillance cameras from taking a quick snapshot of your debit card details) - I would imagine because that is what we are all familiar with. To reveal the details of the hidden numbers within the app, you usually need to enter in your password or in more strict cases perform a 2-factor authentication and/or enter in an OTP (one time password) that you would receive either via; email, SMS, or to your WhatsApp number. --> Note that if you are traveling abroad do not accept the use of the OTP methodology option via SMS (text message) - because your home country's SMS may never arrive to you internationally and/or may become very expensive to receive because of roaming charges. I have found that OTP via WhatsApp as being the most reliable and best option. Below is what AI says about virtual debit cards - as it can explain it better than I can. The only limitation that I have encountered with the virtual card is if you would desire to use it at an ATM to withdraw cash. I have heard that some sophisticated ATM machines have a way to read from your virtual card to allow you to withdraw cash - but I have never seen it in practice. When I ask Google - it says that it is not possible: But yet here in Thailand - I have seen with my own eyes certain ATMs where you can withdraw cash without inserting a card. I am not sure if the end-user is using Apple Pay or Google Pay via NFC (for contactless payments) to perform these types of ATM transactions. Google states the following possibility to link a virtual card to your Google Pay or Apple Pay and withdraw cash at an ATM in Thailand using the contactless payment feature: I believe that its life is as long as your physical card is (until expiration date that is stamped onto your physical card). You have the option within the app to set the virtual car limit to ZERO - thus rendering it useless. I am not sure if you can "turn it off" - without it being canceled. Anyone here reading this know ?? The physical card and the virtual card are independent of each other - from the point of view of being active or not.
  3. I thought the same thing when I read that. Then from Sukhumvit Road you would need to hire a Grab or Bolt to get to your final destination - tacking on another 100 to 150 baht for the privilege. Consequently, the predecessor Suvarnabhumi to Jomtien bus, that terminates almost at the Jomtien Complex (aka Supertown) still remains, in my opinion, the better choice - at 143 baht to get to Pattaya. https://airportpattayabus.com/ 7 minute walk to the Jomtien Complex from the end-point bus station in Jomtien
  4. Great on Amex. In my case, it was the SKRILL card and they made available to me a new virtual card ready to use on the same day that I made the fraud claim in Cebu. So, I was also impressed with SKRILL.
  5. After I translated the FB invitation in Google Lens --> I got the feeling that it was: 1.) Written by one of the Thai staff and/or boyfriend, 2.) Target for invitation was intentionally towards Thai readers whith an emphasis on those that work in Supertown, 3.) I am guessing --> to create goodwill within the Thai complex community? 🤔
  6. If you use Google Lens to translate the above Facebook Soda Massage birthday invitation, it states that the birthday invitation was open for EVERYONE who desired to participate. This was a very generous offer by the I believe farang owner of Soda Massage. How does he afford such an expensive affair? Hmm, perhaps because he has 30+ boys working for him and is clearly the BIGGEST gay massage shop in the Pattaya area? I wish him a happy birthday and the best of luck.
  7. Same thing happened to me during my 62 day stay in Cebu. It is very irritating and annoying. Thank God that I had other additional cards that I could use. My new replacement card arrived to my former condo in Budapest (it is a card that is only issued to EU residents) and one of my ex employees lives there now and he will ship it via DHL to me here in Jomtien.
  8. It was the Soda owner's birthday party. Perhaps it was him who you saw up on the stage.
  9. I can only comment for the Dongtan gay volleyball from sunset until 10pm. Just bring him there and ask any of the guys on the sand volleyball court if your Filipino boyfriend can play. It is that simple. However, note that there are sometimes 3 separate volleyball courts - and the guys who are more serious may be reluctant to let someone that they do not know join in right away. So, I would suggest that he try at the other 2 adjacent volleyball courts. If the guys who are more serious are in a jovial mood then they will probably ask him to play right away. They tend to get serious when they have an upcoming important match and they need to be serious. But if there are no upcoming matches then I am quite sure that they will let him play. For the Jomtien soi 12 volleyball which usually runs from like 2am until sunrise - I am not sure how one inserts himself. But my boyfriend recently told me that of recently more non Thais have started to join them. This volleyball is kind of casual - unless there is an agreed upon match for money or some other type of competition. Below is a very general map of the Soi Jomtien 12 area: I have only been twice - arriving via motorbike and kind of intoxicated - so my memory is not perfect - but I remember the D Varee Jomtien hotel being nearby.
  10. Me too. He was/is a breath of fresh air for our forum 🙏😇🤩
  11. Yes, amazingly cheap at 143 baht one way. If you have time to kill - then it is a good alternative. I only learned about this bus from Vinapu during my boot camp training last year. https://airportpattayabus.com/ It departs from the Suvarnabhumi airport and brings you directly to Jomtien where the big FoodMart supermarket is - about a 7 minute walk to the Jomtien Complex (aka Supertown).
  12. This sounds like a propaganda article in my opinion - as certain interest groups are HELL-BENT on artificially changing the image of Pattaya to something that it is not yet there..... Based on what I highlighted above - YES the Thai birth rate is down and this VOID is being filled up with the guys from Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Vietnam. Why are all of these SEA nearby foreigners servicing the local Pattaya community? Because there is a DEMAND - which this article alludes that DEMAND is diminishing. Consequently, this article feels like it is trying to twist the on-the-ground reality that sin city is still vibrant in Pattaya even though there is now a HUGE movement to say that it is not.....
  13. I believe that you will LOVE it!! The grounds are very nice and the individual Thai style bungalows are old Lanna style. https://www.facebook.com/rabbitresort.my/ When you exit the Rabbit Resort grounds onto Dongtan Beach - you are immediately in front of the gay beach - right smack in the middle = excellent location. To your right (walking north) are the Dongtan gay volleyball sand courts - perhaps a 5 minute walk. To your left (walking south) is the Supertown in the Jomtien Complex - perhaps a 10 minute walk. Regarding the taxi services - I have noticed that their pricing is MORE expensive when they need to enter into the middle of the Bangkok traffic jungle (like Silom). Whereas, the price to Pattaya from Suvarnabhumi airport is cheaper - because with the super highway out to the coast where Pattaya is they can avoid the Bangkok traffic nightmare....
  14. PFC ? Quick and easy to become a new member...
  15. outch, I thought the SAME thing....maybe behind that gayguides.com nik = Zipper --> is Ben Stiller ?
  16. wow - I love the translations on that noodle menu: Crazy hard, super hard, etcetra.... Ask your guy if these hard adjectives can also be used to describe someone's state of excitement? 🍆
  17. Almost exactly what happened to me, when I arranged my first 7 days of traveling together with Woody and his partner Non. I had specifically told Woody when making the plans for this trip that the MOST important part of the to-be trip was to cross over into Myanmar. Well, that day arrived - perhaps it was back in 2013 or 2014 - I wrote a previous trip report about this - and when we got to the exit Thailand gate - Woody was told that if he crossed with me that he would not be allowed back into Thailand - as Woody was still a refugee from Myanmar (now he is all legal with proper documents to live in Thailand). Woody insisted that I cross over anyway - but I would not go without my precious Woody. So, still to date, I have not yet entered into Myanmar - and like most of us here - wee are waiting for this never ending Myanmar conflict to end. Woody saw how saddened that I was and he surprised me by taking me to that exact same point where you can overlook into Myanmar (this was before they built the glass Sky Walk overlook) AND Woody invited one of his friends who lives in that Myanmar border town = Tachileik to cross over into Thailand and join us for lunch up on the overlook - so that this Myanmar guy could explain to me about what we could visibly see in Tachileik. We were originally supposed to eat lunch with this guy in Tachileik and he would give us a tour. So, in lieu of our original Myanmar plan, I was still very happy and appreciative. And, how could anyone be angry with adorable Woody.....
  18. Vinapu - please show us a photo of your "protector on bare feet".... I am very curious as to what they look like. Us readers may also want to use this technique.... or is it patented like the Vinapu Tuck....
  19. I am sure that it would be hysterical. Because the ladyboy caught me off-guard as I was crossing from the beach side of the Dongtan beach walkway to the security entrance to my condo complex. At first, I thought that she was one of my Thai boyfriend's many ladyboy friends so I was in a "friendly nice to see you state of mind...", but then I quickly realized that I did not know this ladyboy - she was very pretty - but she was very aggressive about "acquiring some business..." - so, I whipped out my ---- NO - stop what you are thinking - I quickly whipped out my security gate FOB so I could quickly get into the condo complex before she was able to get off of her motorbike...... Then I stared back just to make sure that she did not have her own FOB key - as I learned that many of the local money boys here in Jomtien have their own FOB keys. In fact, I wanted extra FOB keys for my occasional guests and I asked to my real estate agent and at the Juristic Office and both of them told me that there were no more FOB keys available. But this being Thailand - creative solutions are always available - so, someone told me about this FOB key duplication shop over near Tukcom and you just give them one of your existing FOB keys and he reads the signal from your FOB key and makes you a duplicate. Amazing Thailand!!! So, so much for feeling safe.....
  20. I can leave you and your guy in the hands of my boyfriend - as I am sure that he would enjoy to be a "tour guide" for the soi 12 adventure.... Just realize that it is an expansive beach area with pockets of guys sitting on their beach mats and/or portable beach chairs sitting, drinking, and chatting. Some of them play volleyball off and on throughout the night. Also, for purposes of your Vietnamese guy - there is also the gay Dongtan beach volleyball, which starts daily about 30 minutes prior to sunset and goes until around 9pm to 10pm.
  21. I am like you. What you described would be so perfect and enjoyable for me. By the way, this Japan trip report is excellent - as going to Japan is high on my eventual bucket list.
  22. Yes. He does this almost everyday. Last night we went out together to chat at a bar in Supertown to see some of my farang friends - as many of what I put into the category of: seasonals --> are all starting to return back to their home countries, after being back in Thailand for their seasonal 4 to 5 months. This means that the transition to "low season" from "high season" is now underway. Around 12:30am I walked my boyfriend to the Jomtien Beach Road and kissed him goodbye as he went south, first to soi 4, as it was still too early to go to soi 12 - as it does not fill up until all of the boys who work in the Jomtien Complex (aka Supertown) send us to bed around 2 am when the Complex closes and then a large proportion of the Complex head over to Jomtien soi 12 for their "after work" nightime fun, where volleyball is one of their entertainment options. I can always join him - but I am usually too tired to go and enjoy myself. If there is a "special" ocassion and I need to go there - I will take a 2 hour "power nap" beforehand to help me get through the night. On those ocassions, I would need to skip going to Supertown and do my power nap. I headed north into the Dongtan Beach area, where my condo is. A ladyboy rode her motorbike up to me, as I was walking alone, and tried to aggressively solicit me --> so I ran into the security of my condo complex gates for safety. Hahaha While I was sleeping, this morning at 6:37am, my boyfriend wrote me to say goodnight, after returning to his room from the Jomtien soi 12 volleyball beach. He will probably wake up around between 2pm to 4pm.
  23. Hello Welcome to Pattaya. There are many places - especially here in the JOMTIEN area of Pattaya. Here is a link to a list of the many massage places found in the Jomtien Complex (aka Supertown). https://www.gaysupertown.com/massage Soda Massage is the biggest massage shop. But, there are also many other massage shops very close to Soda, as shown in the below map: Enjoy!
  24. Candy Bar Burlesque Show review – 07 March 2025 After my return from 62 days in Cebu, Philippines, and the completion of my USA tax return = hallelujah!! It is time for some FUN!!! I ask my Thai boyfriend to get us a reservation to see the Friday night show – which as per the below weekly program schedule – meant that we would see the Burlesque Show. I tried to do the booking reservation, but it is difficult if you do not have Facebook. For purposes of this review, my boyfriend shared with me the below FB info page – which should allow you to make a reservation. We did not have any problem initially --> read on… https://www.facebook.com/people/Candy-Bar-Jomtien/61572178823103/ Prior to the show start time at 10:30pm, we go to Dick’s Café for dinner at 8pm. Afterwards, we go to the Sun Bar, which is directly across from the new Candy Bar. It was the birthday of one of the Sun waiters (his name is BOY), and as my Thai boyfriend knows almost everyone in the complex, we are inserted into the birthday festivities, including the addition of our 100 baht bank notes to his birthday garland. Suddenly, my boyfriend orders a whiskey bottle with mixers and ice – I look at my watch and it is only like 9:20pm and I say to him, there is no way that you and I can finish off that – he laughs at me and says, our friends are coming to join us (3 more guys) and we will drink some more after the Candy show back here at the Sun Bar – and he looks at me and says, “they will have dancing inside tonight…..” He knows me all too well – as my main complaint/bitch is that there is nowhere to dance in the Jomtien Complex (aka Supertown). So, how could I dare to say no..... I say to him, please hurry up and run over to the Candy Bar and extend our reservation of 2 to now 5 – as I did not want us to be denied seating. He comes back and tells me mission accomplished. Drinking and waiting at the Sun Bar in anticipation His 3 friends join us, and we all continue to laugh and drink with the Sun Bar birthday guy. 10:15pm arrives and before we know it and we are inside the Candy Bar. Well, my first impression is that this is a serious venture that has wonderful aesthetics, and sound absorption, rendering the place with excellent acoustics. So, the new owners have definitely spent some good money to make this place very enjoyable. Our assigned seats are at the back of the lounge, and they are super comfortable, with firm body supporting cushions – all with that new smell. Immediately, one of the hosts comes over to offer us snacks (nuts, M&Ms, raisons, etc.) to nibble on. Our drink orders are taken by one of the cute waiters who are all dressed in a sexy type of candy stripe muscle t-shirt. I love the optional bandanas that they are wearing as the differentiating factor. Which bandana is your favourite? The bar’s decor is very well thought out – where everything is in a nice shade of pink, with amazing attention to branding, from the drink coasters to coffee cups, to walk fixtures – truly an artsy upscale new addition to the Jomtien Complex (aka Supertown). Eclectic, but in good pink taste, in my opinion.... Show time – the Burlesque show begins with this opening number, “Diamonds in the sky”. There was the all-too-common picture frame skit (we saw this type of skit at The Venue Christmas Show) : And then my 2 favorite numbers were: 1. The Lady and her Tramp…. 1741435936254.mp4 2. Sexy pop my balloon scene – it was hilarious…. 1741436356067.mp4 I do not know how long the above skit will last because that sexy balloon guy gives the audience a rather large pin to pop his balloons - but you can see the fear in his eyes when the second guy kind of aggressively stabs his balloon - noting that there is not much distance between the skin of a popped balloon versus the skin on that sexy guy. How long before he is unintentionally pierced by an audience member who has had perhaps too much to drink? ..... All in all, it was a GREAT burlesque show and I wish them a tremendous amount of success. My only worry now is that the Jomtien Complex (aka Supertown) now has 3 cabaret type of showbars; The Venue, M2M, and now Candy Bar. We noticed that perhaps 2 to 3 stars from M2M are now working at the new Candy Bar and we hope that it does not diminish the success of M2M. My boyfriend and I, we voted the show bars in the following order; 1.) M2M, a VERY close second 2.) Candy Bar, and 3.) The Venue. We agreed that we need to return to the M2M very soon to see if they have lost any of their passionate greatness as a result of the Candy Bar. We also agreed that we need to return back to the Candy Bar on one of their other theme nights; Perfect Pop Show, Classic Camp Cabaret, Icons – Anthems & Divas. Recently, the Candy Bar had a Sexy Bum Competition, where the contestants were numbered (like in Bangkok), so that they could be voted on. There was a 1,000 baht prize for the best bum. This looks like it was a lot of fun and I wish that I had been there. Hmmmm --> just look at those voluptuous sexy bums…. and the winner is.......... wait, wait, wait - I am so confused - how could a guy who looks like he is directly from the Atlas muscle bar in Bangkok be a winner in the "twink heaven" confines of Supertown? Inquiring minds want to know - is Supertown slowly turning into a mini muscle heaven ?? After the conclusion of the Candy Bar Burlesque show, we head back to the Sun Bar, as our unfinished bottle of whiskey was waiting for our return. And as my boyfriend told me, there was dancing inside the bar, of course behind the smoke screen glass. Now I was truly happy, as it is very rare that I get to dance in the Jomtien Complex (aka Supertown). mini partial map for those who are not familiar with the Supertown entertainment center in Jomtien https://www.gaysupertown.com/ I stay for an hour and then I leave all of them and I head back home to sleep it off – as the whiskey is now starting to give me a slight headache. I wake up at 8am, and my boyfriend sends me a message from the Jomtien soi 12 beach volleyball to tell me that they are heading home to get some my sleep. What was the name of that song from the Twilight movie ?
