XOne often obliges - when buying something trying to pay with 1000 or 500 note , even if that's just beer or KY -topping up Rabbit card with 100 baht but paying with 1000. In bars though I prefer to pay with exact change as I know few cases / not mine fortunately / when change from 1000 was given like only 500 baht was received from customer
