  1. it doesn't for sure but keep in mind 5000 $ shows exactly the same time like cheap 20$ watch and there's market for both including rich people wearing cheap watches and poor people splurging one in the lifetime for 1 week trip to , say Rome. When comes to pleasures of life , Cartesian logic not necessarily always applies .
  2. Not quite. As younger then me , you don't remember that in ancient Milet price of prostitution was 3 tetradrahmas while daily wage was just 1 and 1/2. Things don't get out of order as you state, it's simply how third world gets out of it's poverty - by being able to get more and more for what they can offer to sell, be it onion , banana or cock. Yes, tourists make things more expensive for locals but on another hand enable other locals to make more decent living by selling more and for more so those things needs to be balanced. Saranrom guys likely wont be asking the same amount if they were hustling in Surwoing. I suspect that in Klong Toey slum one may get girl or boy for much less than Saranrom rates and it's reason why both sex workers and their clients are still living in the slum. Difference in rates is normal everywhere. Upscale , well build call boy in Berlin will charge much much more than narco junkie offering quick BJ in the toilet of ZOO Banhof, no ?
  3. actually I have my doubts whether you are correct as over years on this forum I'm always busy reminding readers to talk to boy directly, s as you advise, instead of talking to mamasan who may be inclined to inflate price hoping for cut of increase for himself . And yet , next trip report and we hear the same story ' mamasan told me xxx baht"
  4. Perhaps they know that Bangkok middle class is quite sizable and many gay members from that class would not even entertain to patronize lowly, in their opinion , Silom ghetto venues. And rentmen guys cash in on that inclination. Walk to any of Bangkok multiple malls and one may observe local people feasting on 500 baht dishes which can be had for 150 in the next block . Who buys those 700 baht underwear if in Silom market similar can be obtained for 100 ? and yet somebody does. Jey Spa is kind of upscale place and most of times when I was there , other patrons seemed to be local guys on their lunch break or after work foray. so I'd say , it's not a hidden market at all - it can be seen day after day in Icon Siam, Siam Paragon and the like.
  5. those which are closing , probably no. Those which stay open, some for quite a long time, probably yes. Am I concerned ? Not at all
  6. thanks for a good laugh, I consider Ibis also belonging to expensive category as any self respecting pensioner should do. About Jupiter ' brothers' I have no idea but watching the parade another day i asked myself exactly the same question "are they brothers ?'' as hair face and built are very similar. Actually you Jupiter boy may know. Hope you have fun with him as in recent years Jupiter boys are friendlier and friendlier every trip,
  7. I actually like that discretion part. Responding to inquiry in writing may theoretically leak on and shops are walking on thin line when comes to 'additional" services. Don't want be seen as fronts for prostitution which is illegal in Thailand and it why in my 40 trips I never saw a single prostitute of either gender there. When you visit, mamasans may be more forthcoming with information, Prestige is around the corner from Silom luckily. In some shops it may be left entirely to the boys how far they are willing to go and even mamasans may not know that part. Otherwise Arena is your sure bet where you can ask any question
  8. I keep my eye on him as well
  9. not picking on report but other will be reading it and may get wrong idea. You took BTS (overhead railway) from Phaya Thai. MRT is subway (underground). One can get to Silom area by MRT by alighting from ARL (airport train) at Makkasan station and then taking MRT to Silom station. Route you took is much preferable to newcomers as more city can be seen from train.
  10. glad to see our beloved city got one more fan
  11. with ageing comes wisdom although my grandmother would haste to add "to a certain degree" Meeting face to face makes probability of proper assessment much higher. In apps there's always degree of uncertainty as who shows up at the door and how he REALLY looks like although it works both ways - he can look even better than we thought
  12. one can always judge , even on the first night, as first impressions are very powerful. We just should avoid building any theories based on that first impression IMNSHO.
  13. Have a peek in Moonlight and perhaps Jupiter as well

  19. that way exactly my thinking after visit to both Phetboy ( now Boy Boy ) spa first and then museum
  20. it look emiel is way more observant than us
  21. time after sunset is better spent in the bar than garden
  22. best music is silence, although probably not in the bar, lol. 12is12 is right , it's hard to find a bar in Bangkok where one can have both drink and a conversation
  23. thank you. I must pass by it million times , noticed restaurant , dined there one with boy of the day but he chose place so I did not pay any attention to the name
  24. Get well fast !
  25. it's actually very well positioned for those attending Saphan Kwai massage venues. One can see it on the left as approaching Saphan Kwai station from Ari
