Need suggestion for good massage parlor with male masseur that open at 9-10 am
anddy replied to spoon's topic in Gay Thailand
as rollingdtone says, you're fine if you leave around 2pm. Afternoon traffic is not so bad, only gets really bad for rush hour after 5 -
too bad I'm out of the country :-(

glad you're having fun :-)

Did you know that you can get decent waxing service by a cute Burmese guy at "Up 2 Hairsalon"? It's on the 2nd floor of Charn Issara Tower on Rama 4 between Silom and Surawong, just behind Thaniya Road (there is a back entrance from Thaniya, too)

there is a similar thing I have observed for some years now: guys - any guys, not only Thais, very prevalent in Europe - are wearing normal underwear under their swim shorts. I totally eludes me why. For one, these swim/surf shorts typically have an inner slip (usually some mesh material) that, well, keeps things in place and from slipping out the leg (which is usually VERY unlikely to begin with given the leg length of most of such shorts). Secondly, normal underwear takes much longer to dry, whereas the swim shorts material is designed to dry pretty fast. My guess is it's a fashion thing, too, but I haven't dared to ask any of the guys I see with that LOL

it is in the small soi where the old Jupiter is/was. You pass it automatically going to Jupiter, so can't really miss it

seems to me that one scenario has been left unconsidered here: have Korean first, then MonBoy afterwards but together with NewBoy. That way the original plan would have been fulfilled at least partially. He is not Korean but from Chiang Mai (and thus presumably Thai). He just had a somewhat Korean appearance in numazu's view, which is why he dubbed him "Korean" (like he always gives them his personal nicknames).

interestingly, this site is blocked in Thailand. Of course, circumventing the block is just a click away, but I didn't proceed to read the article as it appeared a very long-winded, uninteresting story related to football, a topic that bores me to death. So I don't know what the offending content might be... It's not just this story, but the entire Andrew Drummond site. Guess he's persona non grata here.... attachment=21987:block.jpg]

แมน (pronounced, unsurprisingly, as "man") is actually a loanword from English in Thai and means "manly" or "masculine". To say man-man, i.e. the doubling of the adjective, is a common feature in Thai as well, typically signifying more emphasis on the meaning of that adjective. So "man" is manly, man-man is VERY manly. Has nothing to to with the sexuality as in straight for heterosexual and gay as in homosexual. It may or may not have implications for the role in anal sex, as has been alluded to in previous posts here. If you wanna know about the latter, don't ask if they are "gay", ask if they like boys/men (=gay in our vocabulary), girls (=str8) or both (=bi).

if I understand the taxation rule stipulated in the pdf linked by reader correctly, the tax base for massage is in "units" with one "unit" comprising 30 service courses (" 30 รอบ"). So the tax would be 1000 Baht for every 30 massages provided, or 33.33 Baht per single massage. Can't vouch for the correctness of this interpretation, of course!

very sweet post, and always a delight to hear how much fun the Songkran experience is for first-timers. I sure remember those days, and that I actually flew back to Bangkok witht he sole purpose of partaking in the madness the two years after the first time. I'm still here, too *waves hand wildly* LOL

First (same as last) one has a nice view of the MahaNakhon, too. Thanks for posting, I'll try to make it to the show

great report of hot adventures, thanks for that! But how did the trip continue? 5 more days to report on!! Was really nice to unexpectedly meet you for the conclusion of your trip last night at Hot Male, you're such a fun guy! And your friend was so delightful after his first ever visit to a gay bar, first ever visit to a go-go bar (both in one by the name of Jupiter) and his first ever very successful off with the most gorgeous boy imaginable - the wide grin just wouldn't go away haha

so much for the "toned down" Songkran many were concerned about lol Khao San Road looks VERY toned down in accordance with the no-music, no-sexy-dress and other rules that have been issued before lol (video): http://www.bangkokpost.com/vdo/thailand/1232428/songkran-on-khao-san-road This Khaosod headline even says "...wild as ever": http://www.khaosodenglish.com/life/events/2017/03/25/splash-songkran-go-off-wild-ever/

Dr. Bear specializes in that, called "organ 2" massage for sexual health. As the massages at Dr. Bear are constructed by modules you can freely choose by type and duration, you can easily make this part VERY long. another option: https://spabangkok.net/tantric-massage/

I heard G.O.D. was closed, apparently by the military. Seems it started with them having to close early (samebb said that in a recent post, too), but now completely closed for having no license (or something like that). I have no first-hand information, only relay what I heard, but it fits the strange police behavior in Soi Twilight, so I figured I post it here

example 1 was on 1st/ground floor example 2 was upstairs/2nd floor In the past it could happen either way, too.

those worries do sound like paranoia.... sorry to say OP. Chance getting robbed not 0%? Sure but big fucking deal. Chance of plane crashing (or being shot down by a missile over Ukraine) on your way to Thailand? Sure over 0% as well. Big fucking deal. The "disadvantages" you see actually don't exist, at least to all the other posters in this thread. Nobody worries about those at all. As for the snoring: use earplugs. I always carry them when travelling, and certainly have them at home. They actually DO work, and make any noise (snoring or otherwise) a non-issue.

re the original question about free pick ups in DJ Station: ever since I traveled to Thailand for the first time in 2000 (at age 36) I went to DJ on every trip to Thailand which was almost every year since, sometimes twice. I always found it exceedingly easy to pick up guys there, or indeed, be picked up by THEM. In all those years, I never went to Thailand for the commercial sex, and didn't make use of it with the exception of sometimes a HE at a legit massage shop. I did try the full service gay shops (like Arena, Adonis, and the like) a few times in the early years to satisfy the curiosity, but no more than maybe 3 or 4 times. DJ and PlanetRomeo (I didn't have a smartphone until I moved here lol) were the usual places where I met my tricks. And even today at age 50+ it is not difficult to pick up guys at DJ, or be picked up (only I seldom go now because I'm lazy lol). Two recent examples from within the last 18 months or so: 1. Went to DJ on a Monday night (with a guy from KL I showed around town, but nothing more). It got reasonably crowded by 1am, but no guys looked attractive to be - with ONE notable exception, an unbelievably beautiful guy with model looks, probably early 20s, drinking and hanging out with his Thai friends, exactly the scenario OP described. Well I didn't make ANY attempts to flirt or get his attention as I saw no chance (him being by far the most beautiful boy in the club) and him being with his friends (me not wanting to interfere). What happened? Later into the night out of the blue he approaches me and shouts in my ear "I like you". Well, the rest is history lol. In fact he even has come to see me a few times after that. 2. Went to DJ forgot what day and with who. Saw a very sexy Thai guy (ok this one mid to late 20s), with his friends, drinking. Flirted with him by making frequent eye contact. When the club started to close asked him " you want to come with me?" - and he did. Hot hot night and morning Another very recent story: had a young-ish (30 or so) and good looking Filipino friend visit a month or so ago. He spent some nights in my condo, but then moved to a hotel with his Pinoy friend from Singapore. We all went out to DJ, and my friend picked up an older (around 60) farang, simply because he does like older farangs. So bottom line is: if you have decent looks and appear friendly and approachable, it WILL be easy at DJ. On the massage question: I only go to the normal shops, not the gay full-service shops vinapu frequents. In the normal shops, no need to state "no HE" up front, as technically it is to supposed to happen. When they offer it (or just proceed as sometimes happen) I don't want to for whatever reason, I decline in a friendly but firm manner, and it will be accepted. Whereas in the full-service shops it is par for the course, making it highly unusual for nothing to happen. As for the tip, vinapu (correct me if I'm wrong) tips 1000/hr because it is at the full service shops. I don't recall vinapu ever going to a "legit" shop, so I don't know if he would apply the same tip policy. I guess not as boy won't even be naked there. At a legit shop a "normal" tip is totally sufficient when no HE takes place ("normal" being open to individual interpretation, but certainly not being 1000/hr) @vinapu, forgive me to quote you and write about your tipping habits here, but I have a feeling I know them so well from all your reports and meeting you in person a few times . Please do correct any mistakes I may have made! Lastly a quick comment on Christian's post about DJ and GOD: entry is actually free, but they have a minimum consumption of 150 (1 drink, weekdays) or 300 (2 drinks, weekends) Baht. By charging that up front it looks and feels like an entry fee, but economically it is not.

that's true too, but guess I am not the right audience for that, then Again, I personally liked the John Burdett series, as well as the "22 Walks in Bangkok" already mentioned by Christian, excellent book and highly recommended. It's not simply sight-seeing walks like in a travel guide as you might expect from the title, but gives in-depth background to context and history of buildings and entire neighborhoods. Highly informative and yet not boring at all.

This could have been a very cool, atmospheric article, yet in my view it fails to accomplish that. I, too, read the Book "Bangkok Days" and have to agree with Christian in not having liked it. Not for the factual errors which I neither noticed nor would have cared about, but for failing to achieve what forrestreid said the purpose was: "what he was trying to get at was the SOUL of Bangkok". The fictional series "Bangkok Eight" by John Burdett (5 books) does a WAY better job at that. Both the book and the article are incoherent gibberish that pretends to try to capture soul and atmosphere by overusing weird adjectives. There is no theme, no story, no leitmotiv, no nothing. Thus, both left me wondering: what, exactly, is it that he wants to tell me here? The article fares slightly better in the second half, but still I fail to see the point. But thanks to forrestreid for sharing anyway!
