Exactly, the communal baths/showers are part of the attraction, and I believe it is made very clear in the description of the rooms that it is this way, and of course in this thread. So it's surprising how jones could be surprised.... As for the TV, that's a matter of preference of course, but seriously, who needs a TV when travelling, and ESPECIALLY when staying at the Babylon?!?!?! Too bad OP never came back to this forum or thread, his first post is also the last....

that seems like magic stuff for this purpose... is it available in BKK, and if so, where?
-
not possible. You can edit your own post only for a limited time after posting (dunno how many minutes), then no editing, let alone post or even thread deletion is possible (except by admin, obviously). This is apparently a board policy here, as some other boards allow for unlimited editing of posts.

Did you try the insecticide (Baygon spray or similar) at all? Seems like an obvious way to at least TRY. And given the eggs issue that has been mentioned, it would need to be tried FAST, so as to kill them before they lay any eggs anywhere, though with luck the eggs MIGHT be killed by the poison, too, if exposed long enough....

OMFG I am shocked! I met him on Sunday and while he was having health issues as reported in his own report thread, those were clearly not life threatening. He was in good spirits, too. Well I guess better to die while being in good spirits and having fun than having to go to lengthy, tormenting ordeals of decline and disease. But shocking nonetheless, so young too...

one way to try to deal with it just occurred to me, no idea if it would work or not: buy insect spray (like Baygon, can get at any supermarket or probably 7/11), put your clothes in a large black trash bag, inflate it (like a balloon), then spray a lot of the insect spray inside the bag and seal it tightly. Shake to distiribute and mix clothes and poison. Let it sit overnight. For other items as well as the suitcase, put the items in your suitcase, spray inside of suitcase and close tightly. Just an off-hand idea....

to be fair, that's a rather early time to go, and especially in low season, so not really THAT surprising that there weren't that many boys, is it?
-
it is up to lurkerspeaks to report, but here is a brief sneak preview: after dinner at Maxi's went to Fresh Boys for the show, and after show watched parade of boys for a while, but none took his fancy, so we moved on to X-Boys, where show was in it's final stages. Boy rotation had one cute twinky boy that he liked and offed. So mission accomplished, first boy offed All the rest, and how he liked everything, must come from himself of course.

what's even more surprising is that your somewhat crude method of measuring on a globe with a measuring tape was 100% accurate down to the last kilometre, i.e. the distance is really EXACTLY the same, as calculated on www.distancr.com: both routes (beeline) are 11,821km or 7,345 miles:

an japanese onsen (bath) has nothing to do with gay or sex, it is just for relaxation. Of course, one can enjoy the eye candy (if any) in an onsen nudity is not optional, but mandatory. The only thing one carries inside the onsen is a very small towel, which one can use to cover one's front, if one so wishes; some do, some don't. and yes, it is gender separated. I have been to both the ones in Bangkok and (newer) SIngapore. I like to go to the one here in BKK sometimes, especially in cooler weather. Nice and relaxing. For some info in English see their Bangkok website: http://www.yunomorionsen.com/2015/bangkok/yunomori-onsen-spa-feather-bath.php

Patpong 2, to be precise, the narrower one running parallel to the main Patpong road with the night market

Not hygienic? So what? Then one should stop kissing altogether too. You can get syphilis and other things from kissing just as well. How silly.

I'm around in case you still wanna meet, you have my line. Seems you have a busy schedule meeting people already lol

this is not only about Buddhism. Thai Buddhism is deeply intertwined with old Brahmin and Hindu beliefs. As it happens, the very name "Rama" that Thai kings carry comes straight from there - Rama is one of the many incarnations of Vishnu, one of the three highest Hindu gods. Vishnu is the god of life and protection, hence it is the Thai kings role to protect their people. And that's what the Ramayana (or Ramakien) is about, tales of King Rama, which was staged right in front of the crematorium on the evening of the cremation. Did you also notice the many mythical animals and very Hindu-looking statues adorning the crematorium? Things are very complex and complicated, and it is probably impossible for us to comprehend, and we won't be able to explain and understand the depths of all these belief systems in the context of a forum thread lol I know some of this before, but some additional bits I learned from the presentation that DivineMadman thankfully referred to earlier in this thread. I went to that and wouldn't have known about it without the post. Thank you DM!

For the hotel question there is no one-size-fits-all answer. In some hotels you can do as you suggest, in some they check (and maybe keep) the guest's ID, and some (being hostile to this kind of thing) charge a so-called "joiner fee". So it depends on which hotel you're staying at...

Silom Complex (like most malls), most shops and restaurants etc etc around Silom were closed. Interestingly, in the evening (maybe 7pm, was already dark) on the 26th Senso was (still?) open for business as I walked past coming back from the flower offering ceremony at Lumphini Part. Again, think of it what one may, that was an impressive thing to witness. A thick, 4-lane line of about 700 metres snaking through the park, all black (except some kids in school uniforms) to wait for their turn to offer a flower and bow at the king's portrait around the time of the cremation, the relevance being to help a smooth transition to the heavens.

if Ronald Reagans funeral was much more expensive, then that, too was a waste of human labour and money, as King Chulalongorn apparently put it. From a purely rational point of view that is true (even more so for the Reagan funeral than for the Rama 9 one, as will become clear in a second). However. funerals and accompanying ceremonies serve two main purposes: 1. provide closure for the people left behind (i.e. the Thai (or American) people 2. allow for a smooth transition to the afterlife/the heavens or whatever for the deceased under the prevailing religious beliefs (at least in Thailand, not applicable to Reagan I suppose) So, from a western standpoint, the Reagan funeral was a GROSS waste, just for closure so much money? Overdone. For Rama 9, there is more to it from a religious and beliefs perspective. As westerners, we won't share those, but they are what they are, and that's to be respected. Of course, there are, well, other, more sinister aspects, but those are not to be discussed.

no surprise there about the midnight closure...

just heard tonight (directly from there) that Soi Twilight bars will be closed both Wednesday and Thursday

can't comment on Playboy, but Sukhothai premises aren't exactly empty. They are now used by the restaurant on the ground floor as kitchen (the kitchen used to be somewhere else, the food was carried over, now just down) as well as staff lodging. The massage will not come back there. I know the owner of the restaurant quite well and he once told me (somewhat to my surprise) that he had also owned/run the massage shop but was fed with boys' antics and simply decided to close it.

I have now seen Melatonin being freely sold here in BKK. Saw it in the counter of one of the stalls selling cosmetics and supplements in MBK (second or third floor, can't remember). Now I wouldn't necessarily buy it from such a stall in MBK, but it suggests that it is available. That's what I always did when I was working! Saving precious holiday time. Requires maximum sleep on the plane, and of course will not be the best day in the office, but that hardly matters as the first day mostly consisted of sifting through hundreds or thousands of emails to see if there were any important ones. That can be done in a drowsy state of mind lol

yes it is, you're welcome though I don't know if Line does it automatically (and if so in what intervals?) or if you have to do it manually if and when you want it. In whatsapp one can set it to auto-backup and also define the frequency.
-
this is no longer true, the latest version of Line (at least Android, i'd assume IOS version is the same) allows to back up the complete chat history, meaning bulk backup and not individual chat-by-chat backup done manually (as it was before)

well the unthinkable happened: 7/11 announced all branches nationwide will close on the 26th from 2:30pm to midnight. begs the question: do they even have keys to lock the shops? -
Best apps currently out of Blued, Jackd or Grindr?

ooops, you're right I am NOT a frequent user and wasn't aware of that new restriction - which is indeed despicable! Thanks for the headsup!
