I usually do a few days in BKK, Pattaya then a few days in BKK at the end..... because coming/going BKK is a little closer and depending on flight times, more convenient. Could plan the trip between BKK and Pattaya in the middle of the day when there's less traffic and timed with hotel checkin/checkout times. Then the shopping in Bangkok, which is better, at the end so I didn't have to lug the purchases between hotels.
