Guest anonone Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Absolutely hilarious clip from John Oliver. The part relating to Thailand starts about 1 minute into the clip. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWNbekZVyKk As luck would have it, I noticed a pickup truck with swastika emblems during my recent trip to Isan. Not the greatest pic, but I was able to snap a quick phone photo: In addition to the one on the back window, the decal on the driver's door is also a swastika. Anyone else notice these while out and about? Quote
Guest frequentflier Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Nothing hilarious about this..total rubbish.. Quote
Guest Hutchison Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 The swastika is also a Buddhist symbol, in Sanskrit it means auspicious or lucky... Quote
ChristianPFC Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Thank you very much for sharing. "KFC calls Hitler fried chicken extremely distasteful" made my day! Hilarious! Overall a funny and well researched show. The op is correct, on the truck is a nazi symbol, not a buddhist symbol. I have a large collection of pictures I took of nazi symbols used for fashion in Thailand and will post some day on my blog (to cover the entire subject, I need three posts, hence long preparation). Guest anonone Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 I am really liking the John Oliver show. Brilliantly funny with enough bite to really show some thought. The actual show is on HBO, which is a pay TV service that I do not have, so I am very happy they put so many clips on You Tube. Looking forward to your upcoming posts, Christian. Quote
payless Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Thanks for the post. it is sick, sad and funny all at the same time. Not so much now but still a sight for sore eyes is the guys on motorbikes (mostly Farang but not all) who wear German replica storm trooper (Sturmtruppen) helmets. Quote
ChristianPFC Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 These helmets are Wehrmacht (German army during WW2). payless 1 Quote
Guest science Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 I put this parody together a couple of years ago. I hope you enjoy some of the humor. Quote
ChristianPFC Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 The parody is based on footage from a movie "The Downfall" (original title in German "Der Untergang"), which I consider a great movie. On the subject of Hitler parodies ("Ich hock' in meinem Bonker" in English): Quote
