kokopelli
Take a look at the outfit this older gent is wearing! Anyone wearing a pair of those shorts deserves to be fleeced by a bar girl. http://www.pattayaone.net/pattaya-news/147468/5-star-hotel-theft-from-british-guest-by-pattaya-bar-girl/
Alexx
The interesting question is if he's got a wife back home in Blighty who has been reading the same news reports. He might well regret filing that report with the police. But yes, his shorts are truly hideous. And so is the wife beater (I mean the tank top shirt, not making any assumptions here). vinapu

kokopelli
Lighten up a bit, jomtien. Here is a post by Scooby regarding personal attacks and I take your remark as a personal attack. We want a free and open board. But, we ask that members be kind to each other. Aruge as much as you wish about topics. But, personal attacks are not accepted and when we believe you have created an account just to reek havoc, we will remove you from the site. We do this on very rare occassions and the last 3 times have been the same person with different names. Guest abang1961
Oops I have to add: Wearing a singlet and a pair of tacky shorts seems to be in line with the "dress code" of Pattaya. I wore something skimpier and mind you, I am only 3 years younger than the Brition. Secondly, this Thai companion isnt too smart - why didn't she put the money in the bank or better still, send the money out to her family members.... Who on earth keeps stacks of Thai baht in their possessions, especially after committing a crime. Thirdly, a safe in the room is NOT safe anymore. The Thai woman in this case, memorised the code and use it to her (dis)advantage. So never open your safe in the view of your companion. Have a couple of thousand of bahts ready while he is taking his shower.....
Bob
If I ever wear that outfit on the beach, I don't think many people would feel it's out of place (although I expect some would view my general appearance as a sense of relief - given they most certainly look a bit more stylish than that!); however, if I ever wear that outfit in town in the evening in Pattaya (or here in Chiangmai or anywhere), I do hope that some kind and concerned person would come up to me and gently whisper: "Do you even have a clue how fucking stupid you look in that outfit?!?" vinapu
vinapu
So now we judge people on what they wear? Fuck you. be nice , are you that gentleman in those flowery shorts that you are so emotional? As for that guy I wonder if is any truth in girl's claim that he did not pay her for 3 days of companionship. Certainly we had some reports about such behavior before. As for room safe I agree with abang and prefer to use on on reception if available even if less convenient. We had discussion about it on another thread last week

biguyby
I have seen posts like this in other forums: "the guy was wearing socks with flip flops" or "you should have seen the fat old guy he had his shirt tucked into his shorts" or "I saw a guy yesterday wearing speedos and he must have weighed 150 kilos" We're on holiday in Thaialnd (or lucky enough to live in Thailand) which is probably the most fun place in the world. Get a life we are sex tourists looking to have some fun - NOT "The Fashion Police" no need to be fashion police , I agree, but at times some people are really dressing in a way which is heavy for eyes. And definitely we should not be finishing exchange of opinions with ' fuck you phrase' , being nice to each other helps to keep membership active. Alexx
Get a life we are sex tourists looking to have some fun - NOT "The Fashion Police" I'm not a sex tourist, hopefully that means that I'm entitled to my "fashion police" kind of remarks. Seriously though, I don't really care how people dress while on holiday, and this guy wouldn't be attractive to me even if I could personally choose what he's wearing. LOL. However, what sticks out for me is that apparently he thinks it's okay to visit a police station to file a report dressed like that. I cannot really wrap my head around that kind of thinking. kokopelli, vinapu and ChristianPFC
Guest LoveThailand
Many of us indeed go to Thailand on vacation. But I do want to look good on vacation too! So I do think about what I wear. Also as a courtecy to other people When I go out with Thais I make an extra effort to wear something smarter/nicer as I have been told this is important to them. There are many options to dress nicely without killing one's "vacation" carefree mood.
kokopelli
Gad; my post was just meant to be a funny statement not a fashion statement. I agree with Bob above that sometimes is good if concerned person will not be to shy to tell us that we look stupid in what we wear. And no, I'm not a dresser but if we are in somebody's company way we dress reflects on them a bit , whether we like it or not.

Guest abang1961
We, the over 50s truly should know whats looks on us. If one is slightly on the heavier side, avoid super-tight clothes and super-short shorts. The bermudas should not be more than 8 cm above our knees. If you are a typical 50s-60s-something, a simple polo-shirt and khaki pants will do. Stay clear of cargo pants - yes, those with pockets on both sides. *** I am Asian and of course, being gay and vain, I do take care of myself and my grooming. Even I, cant get away with murder in "flowery" shorts... If I ever need to wear a singlet, wear one genuine piece from a sporting brand and not, rip-off, bootleg copies.. Worst, with spelling errors on them. If we can afford to go on a vacation, we don't need to look like paupers... and we should always feel a million bahts/bucks.... Alexx
Where I usually go in Bangkok, not many Thais including the ones I typically meet would wear any kind of shorts. I simply follow their lead, I only wear shorts when I'm on my way to a gay sauna or to Pattaya. ChristianPFC
vinapu
so you have picked up a prostitute and are about to parade him through the center of prostitution in Bangkok and your walking up Surawong Rd with him while you are wearing an un-tucked shirt reflects badly on him? that fact that you are wearing shorts and are going to "escort" him through the hallowed porticoes of a known short-time hotel on a major public thoroughfare probably already cost you enough brownie points, which may explain why he "told" you to tuck in your shirt to reclaim at least some dignity in the situation rather than" asking" you politely bkkguy whatever it was, it was actually his idea to walk instead taking taxi which I offered so I left it to him to assess what is costing him dignity and what is not. Since you metioned Surawong is at center of prostitution I don't think being escorted by a farang of the same or opposite sex is causing big face loss. We are not talking Grand Palace or lobby of Oriental hotel here. My reading of situation was that he thought I'm losing face by way I was dressed, not him. It was not our first encounter and we get along great so I stick to my version although you may be correct. This was not a first time that boy preferred to walk, I think they are pretty bored confined in their bars or massage places so passing by busy Silom or Patpong in company of ugly but baht saturated farang may be entertaining for them. vinapu
I only wear shorts when I'm on my way to a gay sauna or to Pattaya. what about if you are on your way to Patpong or soi Twilight? I wear my knee long shorts throughout the day which I spent either walking aimlessly through BKK streets or whoring around. When doing serious sightseeing like wats or museums I wear regular trousers, I hate jeans. In the evening if I'm going to place to pick up boy known to me already I wear shorts as well, if on hunting mission to unknown back to trousers
