The boyfriend told me today he was very excited that they would be able to watch the world cup as the doorman told him they would be on our TV. I was very happy that he was excited and then I asked him, "Is that soccer?"

:)

Mine is thrilled also.  He plans to watch every single match.  Hard to believe but he know nearly every player on every team.

Yes Michael that is soccer or faux football for men in shorts. :acute:

Haha, yes it's soccer, and I'm quite pleased that I'll be able to see all the matches at home, too... With that curfew, it looks increasingly unlikely that I'll be able to watch them at a pub or sports bar (I'd prefer that for atmosphere, at least for the more significant matches). :)

Ha ha. No Michael -- he was referring to  football ---- the game where 20 men are only allowed to touch the BALL with their FOOT (or head).

There is no 'S' in FIFA.

Also it's not so sure now that all matches will be on TRUE  ----from tonight's news  (Tuesday) that RS is awaiting a court decision tomorrow.

Suppose I need to enter into the spirit of this, so here we go.....

This is a Football WORLD cup, for which almost every nation on the planet has tried to qualify.  Even the US is sending a team.

This is the most popular sporting event on the planet & it's for the most popular team sport there is (Cricket is number 2, behind football).

Now if anyone was to organise a world cup for what passes as football in North America, I suspect there may be about 2 teams entering.

You might be in danger of opening a can of worms here 'z'   :-) ------ don't get me started on rounders/ baseball or netball/ basketball.

Well Michael did pretty much invite us to rip in the opening post......, would be rude not to.

Well one good thing about America's version of football is that they will probably not put the FIFA games on pay TV

Does this affect people who have a contract with true vision?

Well the Aussie's could make some changes and we would have three teams, but in the spirit of fun we now know the truly rugged men are in North America. :p

Oh, by the way.  Bangkokbois on the world cup:  http://bangkokbois-gay-thailand-blog.com/2014/06/10/now-theres-a-reason-to-cancel-your-trip-to-bangkok/

If only all vaiations of footballers would wear 'Aussie Rules' shorts, we might all be more interested.

The Thailand Junta wants Happiness in Thailand and has requested the people see the entire 64 for free.

"The junta contacted the chairman of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission, the country's broadcast regulator, and asked him "to seek ways to return happiness to the people through viewing all of the 64 World Cup matches on free-to-air channels," NBTC secretary-general Takorn Tanthasit told a news conference."

FINALLY---free for all.

According to The Nation:

The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission Thursday resolved to pay Bt427 million to RS for the broadcast right of all World Cup 2014 matches.

The NBTC voted 6:1 to pay the broadcast right fee to RS and the money will come from the Research and Development Fund for Broadcasting and Telecommunications Services.

The NBTC will allow all free-to-air TVs, cable TVs and satellite TVs to air all 64 matches.

That will really piss off the thousands of people who bought the RS Set Top Box just the the event.
