TMax Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 I was determined to get some long awaited dental work done on my current trip and thought maybe about 4 visits will see it all over, generally quite happy with the work except for one little mistake. The dentist reshaped one of my top teeth but after doing it realised that my partial denture no longer fits properly, that partial is thanks to a sporting injury many years ago. Some 4 hours of drilling and grinding / sanding etc (two visits of 2 hours each) and it still doesn't fit properly, okay forget it just make a new denture that will fit as I can't take any more drilling. For that I now have to return this afternoon to see the specialist (two visits in one day oh lucky me), I really do hope he doesn't want to start drilling again because at the moment I have had enough drilling to last a year. My top lip is so raw now that my fun has been reduced quite a lot and there is no way I will let a guys knob past my lips until the rawness goes away and I am missing that bit of fun. I guess it's a lesson learned, although some good work was done that one little mistake can be a real bummer. I'm hoping that in a few days all this will be behind me and I can spend the last week or so of my trip catching up on the missed fun. The dental clinic was one that was recommended on this board and like I said the work was quite good until that one little boo boo. Quote
Up2u Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Hope it wasn't Dr. Tappasit, he is my dentist and I have always been pleased with his work. Quote
Guest frequentflier Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 Dr.Tappasit is the best,a little bit expensive though. Quote
TMax Posted June 3, 2014 Author Posted June 3, 2014 No wasn't him (I think he is in Pattaya and this one is Bangkok) but I will say that when I returned yesterday to see their specialist he had it fixed in about 15 minutes (just a few short goes with the drill and all done), I would return to the same dentist again it's just that little mistake that irked me as her work has been good up until that point. I believe we all make mistakes and we should learn from them and not remake the same ones again. KhorTose and TotallyOz 2 Quote
firecat69 Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Dr.Tappasit is the best,a little bit expensive though. You get what you pay for! When he does a crown it fits immediately when he inserts it. He does not have to keep sanding it to make it fit. Unfortunately I have had a number of dentists in my life and he is by far the best over some acclaimed ones in the USA. He is a little more expensive in Thailand but still a great bargain compared to all of the Western World. ChristianPFC and TotallyOz 2 Quote
Guest abang1961 Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 The dental care in Thailand is at least 50% cheaper than in Singapore. A visit to the dentist is almost a ritual..besides, Suriwong and Silom. The last I had was teeth-whitening ...yes, the effect is not permanent but having bleached teeth looks good....see my avatar, that was taken a month after the procedure...can't help repeating it because I am a semi-heavy coffee drinker.. kokopelli Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 You can also get the other end of the gastro-intestinal tract whitened but not at the dentist. vinapu, TMax and ChristianPFC 3 Quote
zombie Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 OP: can't you tell us the name of the dentist/clinic concerned? A few years back I was in BKK and had some dental work done at a clinic there. It was so bad I had to travel down to Pattaya twice to get Dr Tappasit to remove the offending work and replace it. Dr T said the work was so bad(pictures taken) the dentist doing it ought to be struck off. Quote
Guest travelerjim Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Over the years board members have in good faith made recommendations... re: dentists, doctors and other needs for services... ....whether it be for air conditioning repairs, electrician, painter...computer tech...etc. Naming the dentist in the above discussion will not be constructive in my opinion. One problem need not be reason to defer from seeing a dentist. Complications and unexpected results do happen. IF one needs to know the name of any person recommended.. I suggest you PM the OP. I have used Dr T - named above - and find him excellent. Quote
