TotallyOz
I was heading home on the motorcycle last night and was on Thepassit Road. I saw a huge outdoor movie screen. They had some motorcycles out there like a drive in but also many huts and what looked like a restaurant severing food on the grounds. A Jackie Chan martial arts film was playing on the screen. It was quiet fun to watch. I stopped on the street a bit to catch a scene and moved on. If I were here for longer, I would go back and check out what the deal is with the place. Anyone else been there or seen it?

Anyone else been there or seen it? I've never stopped, but I've seen at least two in Pattaya. But they're not drive-ins. They're outdoor movie screens. They seem to be sponsored by night markets. As far as I can see, they're free of charge.
Guest gonefishing
You will find them all over Thailand, particularly in the country areas (even around Pattaya). The "deal" is that an individual sponsors the event (screen and movie, not usually food) to earn "merit" in return for good fortune such as winning the lottery - ie. "if I win the lottery I will show a movie here for the next 10 years". A more expensive alternative (in return for a higher dose of good fortune!) is a Luuk Thung performance; all are welcome.
