Guest Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 I just noticed that Gayromeo is painfully slow at times recently. I tried a different browser, so it's not that. Anyone else noticed this? Next question.....This business seems to have gained a large market share, possibly making it the dominant gay dating site. However, how are they making their money? I cannot imagine many people using the premium subscription service & I also never see any adverts. Perhaps many companies might not want to advertise on a site with pictures of naked men, although there must be an advertising niche of some sort to exploit. Ultimately, after grabbing all this market share, I suppose they need to make money to justify existing investment and fund investment to keep the site working. Otherwise, they will just lose market share. I am notoriously slow to see the profit opportunity with some internet businesses, but am pretty sure some others out there can explain it. Michael? Quote
colmx Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 & I also never see any adverts. GR is crawling with adverts... every page has a 1 inch banner advert... Maybe you have some sort of ad blocking software? Agree that the site has been very slow recently... especially today (Sunday Nov 17th) Quote
Guest Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Suppose I forgot about that ad blocking software. It's just so effective..... OK, so there's a revenue source. Although I also don't recall any ads on their Android site and don't think I put any ad blocking extensions on the phone. Next point, they need the site to work well enough to maintain market share. If it operates at the normal speed, no problems. If it's as slow as it is today that's going to be more difficult. Quote
firecat69 Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 I'm in the USA and notice no difference in the speed! Quote
Guest Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Well, right now it's fine. Earlier, it was exceptionally slow. Had the same slow speed on occasions over the last few weeks. Quote
