TotallyOz Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 On this trip, I wanted to be sure I brought some things I have wanted in Thailand for a long while. I have a 3 wheel bike I wanted to bring which is both overweight and over-sized. I also wanted my coffee machine, pressure cooker and some other odd things that I always wanted on trips here. So, on this trip, I loaded up my SUV and headed to the airport. It was completely full. I get to the airport and was told that the limit for bags on Delta Connection Flights were 4. I had 12 bags with me that needed to be checked. After a lot of back and forth, smiling and bullshit, they agreed to take them as the plane was not full. I had also called ahead to make sure I was able to bring them and that helped the situation. When I got to Thailand and past immigration, I saw the same old man that always helps me. He came running over to me and I told him this time I needed a lot of help and maybe 2-3 guys. He said he would take care of it. He did it all by himself (bigger tip for him) and he had a huge 4 wheel crate that fit the bike and everything else on it. As we were walking through customs, the lady stopped us and asked what was in the big bags. I told her the biggest was a 3 wheel bike and she laughed. She pointed to another suitcase and I said that is 2 tires for the bike and another was the back tire. She asked about the other large one and it was my 27inch Imac and she looked at me and said "really" and I said yes. She said, "Mister, you crazy mak mak. Go on out of here." I smiled and thanked my lucky stars that I didn't have to get stripped searched or worse. ChristianPFC 1 Quote

TotallyOz Posted June 30, 2013 Author Posted June 30, 2013 Do you have a photo of this bike? I assume it is a bicycle rather than a motorbike. Why is it so special to you? I have done 2 official bike rides in Thailand. The first one was on a 2 wheel bike and it was from Chiang Mai to Phuket. I had a blast on the ride and that bike is in a photo in this thread: http://www.gaythailand.com/forums/topic/3352-an-adventure-across-thailand-on-a-bicycle/?hl=bicycle I did another bike ride with my BF and his friend a few years back in which I rode my trike. It was a much more comfortable ride but the trike is just massive and with the seat and everything, I had to have a special case built to transport it to Thailand. There is a photo of it in this thread: http://www.gaythailand.com/forums/topic/4356-a-biking-tour-of-isan-2009/?hl=bicycle I am a great deal out of shape right now and I do not think I'd be able to do another ride this year. However, if I am able to loose some weight and get into shape, 2 things I am working on right now, I'd be interested in doing the entire Chiang Mai to Phuket ride again in November. A lot will depend on how many issues I have while trying to get ready for the ride this time. The trike is special to me as I love to ride it and when riding on a long ride, it is very comfortable to my ass. I paid more for it than a any motorcycle I have ever purchased in Thailand and I have ridden it in California for the AIDS ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles 3 different times and while slower than most, the bike makes the ride much more enjoyable. kokopelli Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Michael; next time just drive the SUV on the plane and enjoy the trip. Just take a big jug for your toilet trips. TotallyOz 1 Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Sorry, koko - that looks like a Ferrari or some other sport job. For what Michael brought, he needs something more elephantine. How about an Antonov? Big enough to take MIchael and his belongings - I think! Quote
firecat69 Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Looks like the perfect size for Putin and his family and friends and then make it disappear. Quote
TotallyOz Posted July 1, 2013 Author Posted July 1, 2013 My two long time companions put my trike together and then decided it was time to celebrate and ride it around inside our apartment. Quote
kokopelli Posted July 1, 2013 Posted July 1, 2013 Does it fit in the elevator or fit through doors? Quote
TotallyOz Posted July 1, 2013 Author Posted July 1, 2013 Does it fit in the elevator or fit through doors? Yes to both. But, you have to help her just a bit in the elevator. The trike's name is Santana and we help each other. I help her in the elevator to fit and she helps me once we get on the streets. Quote
