Guest fountainhall Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 For years, the Sydney Mardi Gras Parade was titled the ‘Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras’. Until last year, that is. For some reason, the organisers decided that from 2012 onwards the Parade would drop the “Gay and Lesbian” part. Thanks, though, to a huge amount of local opposition, the organisers have now decided that from 2014, the name will revert back to the ‘Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade’.For those interested, the date of the Parade next year is Saturday 1 March. (And a reminder that the Taipei Gay Pride Parade this year is on Saturday 26 October - 65,000 are now estimated to have attended last year's Taipei Parade).http://www.gaystarnews.com/article/sydney-mardi-gras-parade-gets-another-name-change250513 Photo from mardigras.org.au Quote
