TotallyOz Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 I have been to both places in the past and really had a nice time. I ate one year at the Marriot and it was also enjoyable. Where are some other places in town where a nice event is held? http://amorerestaurant.com Quote
Up2u Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 For those who have eaten at both....which one is best? The Amor appears to be more expensive for basically the same meal. Quote
Guest francois Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Cher GayThailand, Where are you going for Thanksgiving? Well, if that is an invitation, J'accepte. Mon ami, LMTU and MOI would like to join you; wherever you go we will go. But I won't bug you about your choice of restaurants. Merci, Francois Quote

It's hard to say which one is best. That is a matter of individual preference. However, whichever of the two, or any other Thanksgiving dinners around town, if you do not already have your reservations I suggest making them as soon as possible. These dinners get booked very quickly and the longer you wait the harder it will be to find one with space still available. Quote
TotallyOz Posted November 14, 2006 Author Posted November 14, 2006 Cher GayThailand, Where are you going for Thanksgiving? Unfortunately, I will be in Amsterdam for Thanksgiving. I like to give my thanks to the boy bars of Amsterdam (not that there are any left now.) Quote
PattayaMale Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 I believe that Amor is an all you can eat, family style with 2 seatings. And Cafe is served as one plate by the waiters. Shenanagans (?) at the Marriot has an all you can buffet with turkey plus ham and rosat beef for 650. Some Thai do not seem to enjoy turkey, so if you celebrate with a Thai you may ask him first. As for me, I will be cooking at the house for friends. I found a method a few years ago that calls for soaking the turkey in cold salt brine for 12 hours before cooking. It seems to make the white meat juicier. By the way, the price of Turkey varies widely. A "Butterball" turkey of 5 k at Foodland cost 1800B same size turkey but another brand at Lotus 850 B. Quote
Guest Pearl69er Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 oh great-more adverts ! A difficult choice but Amor would be my pick. Better hurry though-both will be booked out it in a second. Quote

I like to give my thanks to the boy bars of Amsterdam (not that there are any left now.) The two hustler bars on Pardenstraat are still there. Filled with cute Romanian hustlers. I've always had good luck picking up Thai boys at the Cockring for free. It will make you think you are still in LOS. Quote
TotallyOz Posted November 22, 2006 Author Posted November 22, 2006 I heard many making plans yesterday to be somewhere. I wish I were going to be in town as I know where the best dinner in Pattaya will be and it ain't at a business, it is in a condo with one of the best cooks in Pattaya. Quote
Gaybutton Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 A difficult choice but Amor would be my pick. Better hurry though-both will be booked out it in a second. I believe the 7:00 seating at the Amor is fully booked, but I think there are spaces left for the 9:30 seating. There are always a couple no-shows, though, and Richard is always prepared for a few walk-ins. Bob's BBQ is also offering a Thanksgiving buffet. I recall the price is somewhere around 600 baht, but you'll have to check to get the correct figure. There are a lot of good choices, but there are also a lot of Americans in town. If you have not already booked your choice, you need to do it right away. Let's not forget Christmas and New Year's Eve. If you are going to be in Thailand, this is a good time to start booking. Depending on where you stay, there may be a mandatory dinner for both of those holidays, meaning the hotels make you pay for it whether you attend the dinner or not. You should check into that before making a booking elsewhere, although the most popular gay accommodations do not do the mandatory dinners at any location in Thailand, as far as I know. Quote
