Guest fountainhall Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Songkran has come early to Bangkok. This afternoon it is absolutely pissing down, the skies are dark, and the thunder and lightning where I am has been going on for a good 30 minutes. The forecast suggests we are in for the same tomorrow, but it may ease up a bit over the holiday week-end. Hope it does not spoil the fun! Quote
NIrishGuy Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Man you're not kidding FH, I've just arrived at the Tarntawan after what was more like a canoe trip than a taxi drive from the airport. Accidents galore, rain LASHING down in true monsoon fashion, two foot deep puddles everywhere - and my taxi driver still trying to bomb along at 60 whilst also trying to watch a DVD !!! So yes it's a tad wet out there ( just stopped now actually thankfully) but the way I look at it is its songkran and I'm going to end up wet so whether its from a water pistol or my drowning in a monsoon flood it's little odds and thankfully they've as put me on the 7th floor here I should be safe enough for a while :/) TotallyOz 1 Quote
NIrishGuy Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Sorry, deleted, double posted by mistake - the wifi is crap here so far today :-( Quote
Guest scottishguy Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 If it's any consolation NIrish, it's pissing down here also (although it's not 2ft deep) AND it's 4c. So just get those shoes and socks off, get the sandals on, roll your trouser legs up and wade manfully through the overflowing sewage - if there's nowhere else then at least the Golden Cock is bound to be open by now. Guest Devint6669 Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 I guest SongKran Festival was not only during the weekend, as I see mother Nature was a B*** today. I just when to get some food out and i saw the cloud coming down the street ho S*** i got to go back home. I had to wait for about a hour before i get back out. But no luck because there a major accident out my building and police send us back in the house because it was to dangerous to be out there, for once the police did their job i was shock to see that was possible. Bob Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 God/Buddha joined in the Songkran spirit here in Chiangmai and capped off a hot and wet day with a fairly heavy rain late in the afternoon yesterday. Not much effect, though, as anybody outside was already soaked to the bone. Quote
