Guest fountainhall Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Yet another little restaurant recommendation for those in the upper Sathorn area. Il Bolognese is, as you’d expect, Italian – a trattoria/pizzeria located off Sathorn Soi 7. I had been there once before about 4 years ago, disliked its bright yellow décor, average service and so-so food. From my experience last night, it has clearly changed hands, been very tastefully redecorated and was most enjoyable. You can reach the restaurant from Soi 7 and then take a left at the end, or from the first soi on the right after entering Suan Plu or from Narratiwat soon after the Sathorn junction. Whichever way you come in, the friendly owner will greet you warmly in Italian and then switch to English. The service is excellent and our salads, lasagna and pizza were equally so. A complimentary sorbet was provided between the salad and the main course and a limoncello, also complimentary, was offered at the end. My friend paid and so I cannot be certain of the total bill. I estimate it was around Bt. 1,600 - Bt. 1,700 for two with each of us having a glass of wine. The restaurant gets mostly 4 and 5 star reviews on tripadviser. http://www.ilbolognesebangkok.com/pictures-gallery.php Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 Just a quick update. Dined at il Bolognese with 2 friends last night and we all agreed it was excellent. The food is as good as Zanotti's or Biscotti's (including the best chocolate mousse I have tasted anywhere in many years), the service is super efficient, our carafe of a pleasant, zesty Pinot Grigio at Bt. 450 was good for four full glasses, and the complimentary limoncello was again a nice ending to a very good meal. Guest fountainhall Posted April 23, 2013 Posted April 23, 2013 One did - so we each had two glasses from the carafe. The other was driving and stayed off alcohol. Quote
