Guest fountainhall Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Can someone please explain what this is? My mailbox has started getting a lot of junk mail from this site - mail with titles like "Foot Fetish is Back", "Busty Babes Stripping Down", "Live Your Every Naughty Fantasy"! Sometimes the sender is www.gaythailandlive.com - sometimes just gaythailandlive.com. I never subscribed to any of this junk and I want to stop it. I have tried using the unsubscribe button and absolutely nothing happens! Quote
Guest scottishguy Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 No need to worry fountainhall - it's only the FBI. But seriously - if you click on the live cams on the front page of THIS website, it takes you to gaythailandlive.com, so maybe it's something to do with their affiliation to this website? Doesn't explain why you should get unsolicited emails though. Maybe it's a coincidence. Quote
NIrishGuy Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Whilst I'm not talking about that particular website as I don't know who or what is behind it can I perhaps suggest that it is usually a better option NOT to click on the unsubscribe button in any spam mail you receive as by their very nature of spam the person who sent you the spam mail in the first place could usually care less as to whether you wish to unsubscribe from their (perhaps bought in) spam address list or not. Also by clicking "unsubscribe" what you are also doing is actually confirming to the sender that they have actually discovered and sent their email to an actual live active email address, resulting in them probably at the least continuing to sending you their spam mail and worse they will usually then also sell on your valuable "live" email address in list form to other spam mailers who buy such lists of 'live" addresses for their own spam marketing / fraudulent purposes. So, the best policy unfortunately is simply to hit delete and move on and perhaps consider investing in better email spam catching software - which it has to be said is usually fairly much next to useless anyway most people find :-( Quote
TotallyOz Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Scooby explained that here: http://www.gaythailand.com/forums/topic/8672-changes-on-gaythailandcom/ The unsubscribe worked perfectly for me. It is a reputable company and they would always honor unsubscribes. Quote
NIrishGuy Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Ah there ya go, as I said I wasn't referring to that site in particular in any way - but gotta say my comments re not replying to spam in genersl still stand as they are fairly much the accepted view out there these days, but as always "up to you" so just whatever works ( or doesn't) I guess is it for each person is what's best there then. Guest fountainhall Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Many thanks Michael. I'll try again. I just made my first agoda booking using the sponsors' banner at the top. Hopefully that generates some satang for the Board. Quote
Guest scottishguy Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 As NIrish will confirm - we have a similar problem in the UK of unsolicited SMS messages being sent to mobiles from Companies promising to win £1000's in compensation for "your recent accident" (which never happened) or to recoup £1000's in financial products Payment Protection Insurance (which you may never have taken out). I also get unsolicited Horse Racing Tip alerts by SMS - at least 8 a day - inviting me to ring a premium number at £1.50 a minute for the latest scoop. Replying "STOP" is supposed to put an end to this - but as NIrish has said it often seems to merely encourage them as they then know the contact is "live" Obviously, what Michael says about this particular Company (gaythailandlive) will be right, but it's so bloody annoying to have your mailbox or mobile phone deluged with this kind of stuff and most of the time you can't stop it. AND I'm well pissed off nobody has commented on my lovely BF!! Quote
firecat69 Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 You are absolutely right. Assuming the Avatar is your BF, we should have made positive comments. Love to see him without the Sunglasses??? Quote
Guest Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 I've got about 4 different e-mail addresses, but only check 2 of them regularly. One in particular is reserved for anything which might generate spam and I only look in there when I need to use that e-mail for something. I also have a 99p sim card from Tesco. If I don't want to give away my "real" phone number, the number from the 99p sim card gets used. They are welcome to try calling me on that SIM card, as it's usually in a phone that's permanently switched off. You are absolutely right. Assuming the Avatar is your BF, we should have made positive comments. Love to see him without the Sunglasses???He certainly is fit. As for the sunglasses comment, maybe we should have a dress code for avatar pictures? Quote
Guest scottishguy Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Hi Firecat - yes he is genuinely my BF - the oversized sunglasses are not to hide identity, they are just young fashion which I know nothing about LOL. I'll have a sunglasses-less pic and I'll put it up, just to prove! EDIT: There ya go! I could be persuaded to post one in shiny speedoes and sunglasses - but I think he gave up the Justin Beiber hairstyle in that one - lol Quote
NIrishGuy Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Oh thank god for second there I thought you were posting a pic of YOU in shiny speedos and sunglasses as I'm just having breakfast and you in a pair of budgie grabbers might just have been enough to sour my eggs lol Quote
Guest scottishguy Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Sad to say it's probably smaller than a Budgie - and, equally sadly, I do have a pair of large Tits - so I wouldn't subject anybody to such a photo! Quote
NIrishGuy Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 looking at the weather here in the UK of late I can only assume they are obviously blue tits then :-) Quote
