My Visit to Brazil for the Month of March!

My friend Marco and I spent the day at the gay beach in Ipanema and we had a good time. We had lunch at Debassa in Ipanema with my friend tomcal and his date and watched all the boys go to the beach and then we joined them. Tomcal returned to his place for what I guess was more guys. LOL I just relaxed at the beach with Marco. He had several friends at the beach and some of them gave him a few buds of happy smokes and we lit up. We just chilled, relaxed and smoked a bit while enjoying the scenery and the "tranquility" of Rio!

Wow.  You are quick on the reply.  :)

From some basic searching, it seems the best options for a quick (3 or 4 day long weekend) visit would be Sao Paulo or Rio, due to airline schedules.  Porto Alegre sounds ideal, but it would take much longer to travel there and would leave little time for play.

It seems Rio would be the better choice, so I will start looking at some options there.  No need to take your time now...I will search around for info, on Boytoy as well as other sites.  I may come back to you with some specfiic questions as I get further into it.  For now I will continue to follow your exploits here and live vicariously.

As to your question...I would be going mainly for the sauna on the first trip...though I would like to take some time to check out Ipanema Beach and whatever else I may come across.  I need at least a little time to recharge the batteries...LOL

In that case, Rio is definitely the place for you!

If you get more questions, please ask.

I also suggest you look at vbro.com and some of the other apartment rental places. They are much cheaper than the hotels. However, if you have points, Marriott and Sheraton have hotels here. The easier area is Copacabana or Ipanema. If you go to Barra, it will be too much travel for you first trip.

Good luck in your planning and please let me know if I can assist in any way!

Too funny.  I had just checked out Marriott, and it turns out there is a JW right on the beach.  You are a mind-reader.

That is the hotel I am in now. Nice hotel. Great views. Good rooftop pool. Safe area. Lots of little places to eat in the area and it is an easy walk to subway and one of the saunas.

I spent a week-end in Rio ten long years ago - and wished I had had several more days. As Michael has suggested, there is so much to explore in the city apart from the the beaches and the night life and the entertainment.

You are so eloquent in your choice of words. :)

Today I am headed to the Hippie Faire in Ipanema. It is an arts and crafts festival that has been going on since the 60's. I have often found some great pieces of art there. There is one lady in particular that I have bought about 20 pieces from over the years and if she is there, I'll see if she has some new pieces.

Weekends in Brazil are vibrant and fun and exciting! Can't wait.

I have a very fun few days.

My friend tomcal left yesterday and before he left, I met him in Ipsnema for lunch and then we headed to Point 202 for his last night. Point is nowhere near as busy as it was a few years back. IMHO, management really let things slide. The facilities and the location is fantastic but the boys are no longer there and neither are the customers. Tom likes it from time to time but on this trip, I found nothing I liked about it. It is also notorious for padding the bill. It is so very common that I have refused to even step food in the place in years gone by.

I had my regular over for an overnighter and it was fun.

On Sunday afternoon, the hotel Internet hotel went out completely. It was just dead. I was livid and I made my feelings known.

On Monday, the first thing I did was go to Sugar Loaf Mountain. I have been many times in the past but I love the view. The entire week has been horrible for photos. There has been no sun and it has been very grey and rainy. Today was no exception. I was going to take the helicopter ride with 2 other guys I met on the way up but they told us that the Christo was not visible in the clouds. The ride was going to cost us 1200 each and I didn't want to pay that and not have some good photos of the Christ the Redeemer Statue.

I wanted to see a few boys from Meio Mundo and I went there today. I got there early and I went to see them. I had the one guy tomcal took nightly 2-3 times for groups and had a great time with him. I then had the massage guy I had a few days back. I thought I was done for the night but I saw this young dark hair twink that I thought was adorable and chatted with him. He had a few piercings that I like and I asked 2 of the other guys I have been with a few times if they wanted a 4 way and they all jumped at the chance.

It was a fun 4 way but the one boy (left in photo) was a bit Sadomasochistic. The other guys were a bit taken aback by this. I think they would have been OK with it had the boy not been so unbelievably new to it and not really great at reading signs. LOL

That said, I still had fun with them.

As the 4 way made the 6th guy in the sauna and my money was drawing to a close, I headed to the hotel early. I had a friend waiting for me at 9PM that will stay all night and celebrate my midnight birthday with me. :) I just love a good midnight sexcapade. :)

Send the bookends over or bring them with you next time.  I wonder what you could catch with them as bait.  LOL

Evidently the Brazilian boys keep you up past your bedtime so no telling what you might discover in Thailand

I was going to take the helicopter ride . . .

I loved going up in the cable cars. I was amazed at the number of helicopters constantly arriving and departing. Landing on the mountain seemed a bit hairy.

I have finished up my time in Brazil. I had a great time but thought I'd do a little (hopefully) summary of my time there.

I am so glad I found the Holiday Inn Express in Sao Paulo. It was a great hotel and I loved the area. I always felt very safe and the area had tons of restaurants. For saunas, I had fun at both Fragata and Lagoa. Both had great guys and were busy on most nights. Some of you may remember me posting years ago about a place in the outskirts of Sao Paulo called Alterosas. It closed a few years back. However, one client in Lagoa told me it was supposed to reopen. I hope that happens. I didn't have a great deal to say about the discos and night clubs in Sao Paulo but some of my past posts have talked about these things. There is no place on earth better for discos and nightlife than Sao Paulo. I have never seen any other place that can compete. The boys in Sao Paulo work hard in the day and play even harder at night. There are also so many things to see and do around the city and IMHO, Sao Paulo has some of the most amazing restaurants on earth. It is just one fucking amazing city!

In Fortaleza, I don't think I would stay at the Holiday Inn again. It was outdated and old and just not my cup of tea. However, there are some great saunas there and the boys on the beach are beautiful and approachable. My regret is not spending more time here. I wish I had stayed for a week as I think I would have really enjoyed the city and the boys. But, I was sick for the time in this city and I could not wait to get out of there at the end as I thought getting to another city might make me feel better. It didn't. LOL

In Salvadore, I am very glad I stayed at the Mercure Rio on the beach. It was very inexpensive at about 240R per night or 120USD. The area was also full of great restaurants and I'll be staying at the same hotel in the future. However, I've decided I'll take up IHPGUY's suggestions to me to spend more time in Pria de Forte and that area. I really loved the area. It was full of middle class Brazilians who have holiday / weekend homes there. There were tons of hotels, etc in the area. When I was in Rio, I met the manager of the JW Marriott and she was telling me about the area as her husband is from there. She said that the area was once nothing there. The owner of the Mecure Hotels decided to build a hotel there and then everything else came around. She said that many say it has a very Asian feel to it as he is Asian and perhaps that is why I liked it so much. For my next trip to Salvador, I'll take a boy with me who loves the beaches and surfing and just chill with him for a week.

In Rio, the JW Marriott in Copacabana was a great location. It was easy to get to all the saunas but it was in walking distance (long walk) of Point 202. I have said on my past 20 times to Rio that Club 117 was the best. Well, I hate to admit it but I think Meio Mundo is better. At least when it comes to the boys and the attitude of everyone. My only issue with Meio Mundo is that the rooms do not have showers inside them and they only have communal showers. Monday is the best for Meio Mundo and Tuesday is the best for Club 117. I was in Point 202 3 times and I honestly can't tell you which night is best there as it was pretty barren of clients and boys each time I went. That being said, tomcal picked up one guy from there that I have to say is one of the hottest guys I have seen. So, perhaps it is still best to just test them all.

My favorite restaurant in Rio is still Porcao Ipanema. I love this place but the price is not cheap. But, if you are looking for true Brazilian meats, this place is amazing. I went there 3 times on this trip and loved it. I also eat several times at a place called Sierra Campos Grill. IHPGUY had suggested it one day when tom and I met him for lunch and I loved the place. Since it was only 4 minutes walk from my hotel, I went there for lunch several times and dinner one night. The cost depends on who much food you eat at it is a por kilo place where they weight your food. Just be sure not to loose your ticket as they will not let you out without paying. :)

As I have said, I have been to Brazil about 20 times over the years and I love several cities for different reasons. For me, IMHO Rio is one of the most breathtaking cities on earth! You just can't be anything but amazed at how beautiful the landscape is with the mountains, rock formations and oceans all together. The beaches are world class and the city has so many architectural marvels that you can't see everything in a few days. I wish I had more time to spend with IHPGuy on this trip as he is a wealth of information on Rio and gives an amazing tour. He was very kind to show me around the city one day and I really enjoyed it.

I have been to Brazil many times on my own but I love it best when I have friends with me. One my first trip to Brazil. my friend Hooboy met me. He showed me around Sao Paulo and got me to fall in love with the Intercontinental Hotel group. I was with my boyfriend from NYC at the time and Hooboy treated us both to a great time. I could not keep up with Hooboy but the BF did. They were perfect together as Hooboy loved late night discos and parties. I am more of a morning person so as my wind was dying out at night, Hooboy and the boyfriend were just getting ready to liven things up. It was also on this first trip that I met Alex. Alex was my first Brazilian love. He did one three way after another with me and the BF and he stayed with us every night. He then went with us to Rio and spent the entire trip with us. The sex was fantastic and he knew me really well. I am not a late night person like he and the BF was but I like to be included in things. So, they wanted to go out at night EVERY night and Alex would bring to my hotel a different surfer boy each night. One boy named Fabio I remember so well as Alex said, "if you smoke weed with him, he will fuck all night long." I laughed as Alex and the BF went out to the clubs and I was left in the room with a stranger surfer boy. Once he lit up, we were on the balcony of the Intercontinental Hotel, he started sucking me off. I felt a bit exposed as there was an apartment complex across the way that could see us but it was so hot, I just let it continue. He just kept sucking until I came and he swallowed very drop. It was fabulous. But, that was just the start of our night. The more he smoked, the hornier he got and I don't think I have fucked in so many positions in all my life. When Alex and the BF got back, we were still have sex and they joined in. I think my dick was raw from so much friction but it was one of the best nights I have ever had. LOL I did see Fabio about 10 times over the years but he was never as good as that night.

I ended up taking the Brazilian Alex to Paris with me for 2 weeks and we did all of France. My favorite night with him was in the Moulin Rouge Theater. He loved it and we took a great photos that we gave to his family. Years later, I saw him in Barcelona. He never left the EU and just stayed there. :)

Brazil brings us so many great memories of the boys I have met there. As most of them don't speak a word of English I was always at a loss so I had the concierge at my hotel interpret for me most of the time. I know it must have been weird for them to translate for a big American and a Brazilian hooker but they did it anyway. One year, I took 8 boys to Carnival parade and it really did make for one of the best nights of their lives and it did the same for me knowing they were so happy.

Falling in love in Brazil is also easy. I ended up falling in love many times and considered moving there for a boy. But, in the end, my business sense got the better of me. LOL

One fantastic trip was with Marc Anthony and Firecat. They both had boys from USA and Canada with them and we were in both Sao Paulo and Rio and we saw everything. There was some good memories.

On this trip tomcal made me have a blast. I was an instant celebrity when I was with him. It reminded me of when I would go to Montreal with Marc Anthony many years ago.

Tomcal knows ALL the boys and he also makes sure everyone is having a good time. He is not jealous of the boys going with someone else and I am not either so we were perfect in that regard. Both he and I want the boys to work at much as possible so when we had a new boy that we liked, we made sure the other one knew this and met him. It is hard to find good traveling companions as some guys get so fucking jealous and think that if they like a boy in a sauna, that none of their friends so go with him out of respect. The boys are there to work. If you are jealous of a boy in a sauna, take them from the sauna and pay for their life. If you are not doing this, they need to work and you should be happy they are making money. Tom was great with his and he made sure I knew anyone he was with it was OK for me to meet and go with. Well, with one exception. He had one guy that he did 2-3 times each night and the boy didn't get a free minute for me. :) But, that is OK as well because I was there a few days after him and got the chance to see him a few times on my own. Now, I know what he was taking him 2-3 times each night for. :)

I had a great trip. Used points to upgrade on Delta for my ticket and I used points at 3 of my hotels. So, the entire month was very cheap for me. The biggest expense was the boys. ;)

Now, all of that said, I have to admit something to Firecat. I will only say this once and NEVER again. LOL He is right when he says that Thailand is so much cheaper than Brazil. There really is no comparison. The hotels, restaurants, taxis, etc are all more expensive for similar things in Thailand. The boys are about the same but everything else is more expensive. However, if you have a really good guy like IHPGUY who knows how to navigate the area, it can be very reasonable. I am just not a subway or bus guy. I like taxis and nice restaurants. So, if Firecat does not read this, good! I hate to tell him he is every right on something as he never lets me forget it. But, he is right when it comes to the rates between Thailand and Brazil.

However, there is no comparison with the boys. The boys in Brazil are passionate, versatile sex machines who love 3 ways and fuck like there is no tomorrow. The Thai boys I know and love are great sex as well but are more passive and less aggressive than the boys in Brazil. I love things about both places and luckily I have built a life where I don't have to choose one or the other. I do think everyone that goes to Brazil should also go to Thailand to see the comparison. And, I think that everyone that goes to Thailand should also make a trip to Brazil. I can't tell you how much I truly love both places and how much I love the guys in both places. Lucky that I don't have to pick one over the other as I don't know which place I would choose.

I am very happy I made this trip. I had a blast in every city (expect when I was sick with the flu). I got to meet some guy guys and I literally went to bed each night with a smile on my face. Brazil is paradise and I hope that this very long and boring thread I have done for my trip encourages a few of you to dip into the waters of Ipanema one day!

Posted

Well first I doubt anyone found this thread to be long and boring. I appreciate the time it takes to make these posts and I am sure that many who never even considered Brazil will now have to think about a new adventure.  There are so many adventures in the world and it is so much fun exploring each and every one.  These kind of posts are what whets some appetites to try a new country and from my perspective greatly appreciated.

The truth is that any place can be fabulous if you meet the right people and especially the right boys. Rio is a beautiful city but unfortunately prices are out of control. You must stay in apartments because the Hotel prices have become ridiculous.  I just checked the prices of the JW Marriott for this week and the average is $650 a night. Only multi millionaires or people using points can afford those prices and SaPaulo is worse..

The great thing to me about this trip by Michael is that it appears there are many other jewels to visit in Brazil where Hotels and restaurants are more reasonable.  It is true that Thailand spoils us at least for the time being in that prices are so reasonable. The same JW Marriott in Bangkok is a 1/3 the price and is far superior to the dated one in Rio.

I am also not a late night person but will agree that nothing compares to the Discos in SaoPaulo.  They are incredible and if I were 30 years younger would be there with various boys every night.

Most people who plan to go to Brazil for the first time will have to carefully plan their trip in order to make the cost reasonable. Stay in apartments and eat where the locals eat not the upper class. Brazil is 1/2 the distance in travel for most of the USA compared to Thailand but the airfares are relatively the same.

I find language to be much more of a problem in Brazil then Thailand. If you are a limited person like I am who only speaks one language Thailand is much more comfortable then Brazil.  But if you speak some Spanish then it will be easier to navigate Brazil.

For me the reason that I don't continue to visit Brazil is that I am not a Sauna person.  I am uncomfortable in the setting and nothing will ever change that.  That is why if I was to return it might be to Port Allegre where they have boy bars .

But everyone should visit Brazil if they are able. Rio is one of the most beautiful cities on earth and visits to the Rain Forest are incredible.

Oops! Maybe the problem was that they speak Portuguese!  :unknw:  (sorry, you fed that line beautifully)!

HaHAHa

Well of i course I know that but I meet very few people who speak Portuguese and many who have some ability in Spanish and they are able to get along just fine in Brazil because of some similarities between the 2 languages.

Posted

You are right Firecat. Many of the boys ask if I can speak Spanish to them. The languages are so similar that most of the boys understand what is being said. They can't speak it to you but if you speak to them in Spanish, they understand this. I once had a friend from Miami down there with me and he spoke Spanish to them and they all understood.

After all Michael's amazing adventures, I now realise what I missed when I visited Brazil. But at that time I was on my own and knew absolutely no-one in the country. The great thing about Michael's adventures is they he has so many friends from his many earlier visits and not only gets all the latest updated info, he has - as it were - guys around him who can act as bodyguards. I have heard lots of tales of  muggings and robberies in the main cities, mostly of individuals. How safe is it for a solo traveller to walk around at night, perhaps returning to a hotel from a sauna?

Posted

I have been 4 times and never felt unsafe but you do have to be more careful what areas you walk in at night. If you have no watches or jewelry  , to attract them , I would say it is relatively safe but certainly not as safe as Thailand.

If you get an apartment in Ipanema , that is a very nice area and not much crime. If you stay in Copocabana  then more then a few streets from the beach can be dodgy at night.

Some of the saunas you can get to by subway but when you leave at night best to have them call you a taxi.

Really like most big cities .  Don't look like you are rich if you don't know the area you are in.

I was out many times by myself and felt no worries. BUT, and this is a big but, I was in areas I knew I would be OK in. It is like living in NYC in the 1980's. I knew I wouldn't be in Harlem at 3AM. It was just not smart. Same is true for most places in Brazil. You just need to know what areas are OK.

In Rio, all 3 saunas I talk about are in very well traffic areas. Point 202 is in Copacabana and I have walked from there to the beach 100 times over the years and never any problem.

Club 117 is in Gloria which is a very nice family area. You can easily walk to get a taxi down the street or walk to the subway stop. Again, I have done tons of time over the years.

Meio Mundo is in Centro area and it is a business area and much more traffic in day than at night. However, there is a big university 2 blocks away as well as many other places in the area and I have walked around and had dinner in the area. I have never walked to the subway from there but I have friends that do that. Also, it is near the harbor for the ferries and many people walk in the area at night. So, for those three places, no worries are all.

I would not feel the same in Salvador as both the saunas were way out in the middle of no where. You would need a taxi there. IMHO

For Sao Paulo, the main saunas Lagoa and Fragata are also both in nice areas and I have walked around at night in both areas with never a worry. I have also walked to the subway in both areas. It is a bit closer for Lagoa but both are 10 - 15 min walks.

This will be my last series of posts on this thread. But, I thought some might like to see some photos of past trips to Brazil.  There are so many things to see and do there.

I have tried to learn Fountainhall's secret to putting photos right below or above text but I can't seem to figure this out so I'll make a few separate posts in this thread.

First, the famous Carnival is a great deal of fun.  It is usually in Feb or March and the rates in Rio go through the roof. But, there is great fun that week.  I will often take a boy or two with me to the events for the week and they have a blast.
