Jovianmoon, Fountainhall is also a Japanophile and is quite knowledgeable about the country. And he obviously knows the language as well.  That's why.  :)

Okay, okay keep your hair on. I was only asking, and followed up with a tongue-in-cheek suggestion that maybe there should be a Japanese language forum here as well... just keeping the jest going but it seems to have been lost...

And yes, Fountainhall and I are quite aware of our mutual predilection.

"以上です" is a little abrupt. How about "これで終わりましょう" - more suggestive  :p

No2, I'm glad to learn you are going to be open-minded and even more glad to learn that you are not the other poster to whom KT referred, but (in fairness to KT) did not actually suggest you were.

Everybody in the world has people they prefer to talk to, and those they prefer not to engage with -  and if I wish to use the "ignore" feature to avoid engaging with someone I dislike then surely that's a good thing and much better than allowing them to provoke me into an argument? I really don't know why this would be an issue with you.

Anyway, I don't even know if there IS an "ignore" feature  - I haven't figured that out yet.

The only other thing I would say to you about what you have posted so far is that it's perfectly fine for you to be looking for serious discussions about serious topics and I for one do not intend to intrude on these unless I have something relevant to contribute. However, surely you must accept that there is also a place for a bit of humour and, yes, even "banter" amongst those who wish to indulge in that?

Surely this is a forum - a message board - rather than some kind of learned journal?

I am at liberty to contribute to or to ignore the "serious" stuff as I choose and you can do the same with anything I post.

Isn't that perfectly fair?

Hey, I wasn't getting upset.  I was explaining.   :ninja:

以上です - I wasn't being abrupt; I was being formal.

これで終わりましょう  :yahoo:

Definitely yes to your first point, and partly yes to the second. Sadly, no to the third. I know only a little of the spoken language and very little of the written!

Sorry Khor tose I still dont see what this headline was all about,

I know you don't, you have often made that clear and completely drawn the wrong conclusions from the whole thing. It is going to be interesting to see if you do this often.

any chance you could leave the trouble-making element of your personality back over at SGF? it is not needed or wanted here.

No strangely with 1300+ post I sort of feel at home here, but I am glad to see how quickly you know everything about this board. Frankly I am astonished.

I will continue here as I have done since I joined, read the forum regularly and contribute when time allows.

I am sure you will No.2 as you now seem to be at peace with even Scotty, and all from my stirring the pot

I see that we now have three new members who have announced on SGT that they are quitting that board.

That's an interesting development I only learnt about yesterday in this thread here. Can someone provide a link to the post on SGT (I had a quick look, but didn't find it there)?

You won't find it there Christian.

It was a simple thread I started entitled "Goodbye and Good Luck" in which I made it clear I was not making an "political" announcement -  merely taking the opportunity to say goodbye after nearly 6 years and thanking those who had been kind to me over the years and wishing the Board well in the future. It deliberately contained no criticism nor any reasons for leaving - so as to be non-confrontational, and as I say, I wasn't seeking to make any "point"

However, after 2 or 3 pages of replies, the esteemed Board Owner deleted it as he did not like the supportive responses it was attracting.

Can I also say that I am only talking for myself - not the others who have "come over" (there is more than 3 but some had pre-existing accounts here) - there was no "plan" to do so, and in no way do I speak on their behalf. Also I need to correct KT slightly, in that the only one who publicly stated an intention to leave was myself - there was no "announcement " by 3 people - only my personal "cheerio" thread.

If you want to know more, PM me - it's not appropriate to wash another board's dirty linen on this board, and I won't say any more in public (but you won't be disappointed LOL)

Nothing too surprising about that, but it happens unreasonably often there, I'm told. Most who favor one forum at least check the others every so often, so folks will find you.  It's the internet, there's room for all and I wish it luck.

Just reading scottishguys latest posting and thought how much this forum has improved since the new ownership.

Under the founder owner, this forum was more of a personal blog than a forum.  When you own a forum, you have

the right and priviledge to do as you wish.  I tired of the style and frankly found it intensely boring and self

indulgent.

My other bone of contention was the protected status of a now banned member.

I found heygay very objectionable and found his favoured position unfathomable and offensive.

With the new owner, this forum has risen to be easily the best gaythailand forum.

I do not want to belittle the former owner and realize that this will be taken as criticism but want to show the difference with the

new owner and how much better a forum can be when no one is treated as untouchable and no one dominates the forum.

Scottishguy,is this all because the owner of that board allowed LMTU and Timmberty to post.

You poor baby.Have you tried getting a life perhaps.

I totally agree. He was an ass... wait.. you were referring to me? :) I guess I should not have posted about a trip to Brazil in the other forum here should I? It was too personal for you? Too much of a blog?

LOL Lots of things I find boring and self indulgent. :) But, I am an overly intelligent guy (self indulgent statement for sure). When I tire of something on a message board, I know how to use the ignore feature. And, since you have only registered here since 2012 please do tell me what other name you posted on before? :) Or, will you skirmy wormy your way out of that one willywilly? :)

No dear - I will not rise to your bait - it's clear you know about 30% of the story, don't be so naive as to believe the spin emanating from that board..

What you refer to did not please me for sure - but it was maybe number 3 by way of an immediate motivation for leaving - and I will not discuss it here, only in PM.

Anybody who is interested to know the facts, may do so - but not here.

Hey I just noticed that THIS board has today reached a new all-time high number of Members online in one day - congratulations to all!   :good:

Thanks, Scotty, a classy position and reply.

Speaking of classy replies, Michael, as usual, you're way too gracious in your reply to willie's comments.  The relevancy of his comments to this thread is a bit questionable but what's more mystifying to me is his announcement of no intent to belittle Michael but then proceeding to do it anyway.

I cannot see the problem of praising this forum and proclaiming it is now the best and most improved.

The former owner was self indulgant and treated the forum like a blog and protected heygay for years.

Several moderators quit due to this and I wonder if Michael will admit this fact.

It was his forum and his right to do as he pleased.  I found the posts on Brazil ok but the endless details on many

other postings were boring.  christian has a similar style and goes in way too much detail that some no doubt find

intersting but I skip over it.

Michael is a quality poster and has authored many excellent threads but I didn't like the way he ran the forum when he

owned it.  So much better now that it has new management. And the best part is that heygay is history !!

What the point to this, Willie? You don't have to read or contribute if you don't like the board. There's good and there's bad, but I sure wouldn't lay the past at someone's feet, especially when he's no longer in charge.

I actually like all the details. I don't want to miss a thing. The only thing I don't like about endless details is when someone is complaining, so I must therefore thank you for your brevity!  :shok:

TW, I made it very clear that I like the forum Why you write that I don't like the board, baffles me.

I do wonder if you read every word in christians postings, down to each 10 baht purchase. Hope this was short enough

Williiewillie, MIchael did indeed admit this in a post in December and, although you may not have seen the post, quite frankly I don't see the need to go over old ground.

Michael, on 22 Dec 2012 – 10:53, said:

When I ran the board, I know I had at least 2 moderators resign directly because of him. One because I would not ban him from the site and the other, well, for the same reason. One moderator returned when his previous handle LMTU was removed and the other not only never return but has rarely posted since. IMHO that pretty much says all that is needed to know about history. That tells you how much drama surrounds one poster. That is why I understand this decision.

It was a real pain the ass back then and it seems things haven't changed much since then.

Scooby runs the Board now - not Michael. Michael is, as you rightly agree, a quality poster and he provides a great deal of useful information, often in a fun way. One thread I'll always remember is the long 10-day or so bike ride he and his bf made through Thailand illustrated with lots of daily pics. It was magical and one of the best ever on this Board.

http://www.gaythailand.com/forums/topic/3352-an-adventure-across-thailand-on-a-bicycle/?hl=bicycle

Does it really matter that he writes about his experiences in other countries? If that's not what people want to read, then I'll have to apologise because I have written extensively - often blog-type entries rather than just posts – about trips as far away as Petra in Jordan, Dresden, Moscow and South America, in addition to countries in Asia like Bhutan, Nepal, China, Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan. I just happen to enjoy travelling and have the luxury of being able to combine at least some of this with work. I hope I am able to give readers some of my own fascination and excitement so that they might consider such a trip. If not, then maybe the pics alone may be worth a quick look.

I’m delighted you like this Forum. If Michael or I bore you, please put us on ignore, or just skip our posts. We won’t be in the least bit offended. And I’m glad you made the point in one thread about your desire to see more about “gay” Thailand here. Personally, I think that was not only of interest but needed to be said. I think the Board seems to be moving at least a little more in that direction.

No really, those were blogs and not books. :p   You know I am just kidding as I have found many of them have been very good and interesting reading.
