Everybody in the world has people they prefer to talk to, and those they prefer not to engage with - and if I wish to use the "ignore" feature to avoid engaging with someone I dislike then surely that's a good thing and much better than allowing them to provoke me into an argument? I really don't know why this would be an issue with you. Anyway, I don't even know if there IS an "ignore" feature - I haven't figured that out yet. The only other thing I would say to you about what you have posted so far is that it's perfectly fine for you to be looking for serious discussions about serious topics and I for one do not intend to intrude on these unless I have something relevant to contribute. However, surely you must accept that there is also a place for a bit of humour and, yes, even "banter" amongst those who wish to indulge in that? Surely this is a forum - a message board - rather than some kind of learned journal? I am at liberty to contribute to or to ignore the "serious" stuff as I choose and you can do the same with anything I post. Isn't that perfectly fair? Quote

It was a simple thread I started entitled "Goodbye and Good Luck" in which I made it clear I was not making an "political" announcement - merely taking the opportunity to say goodbye after nearly 6 years and thanking those who had been kind to me over the years and wishing the Board well in the future. It deliberately contained no criticism nor any reasons for leaving - so as to be non-confrontational, and as I say, I wasn't seeking to make any "point" However, after 2 or 3 pages of replies, the esteemed Board Owner deleted it as he did not like the supportive responses it was attracting. Can I also say that I am only talking for myself - not the others who have "come over" (there is more than 3 but some had pre-existing accounts here) - there was no "plan" to do so, and in no way do I speak on their behalf. Also I need to correct KT slightly, in that the only one who publicly stated an intention to leave was myself - there was no "announcement " by 3 people - only my personal "cheerio" thread. If you want to know more, PM me - it's not appropriate to wash another board's dirty linen on this board, and I won't say any more in public (but you won't be disappointed LOL) Quote

Under the founder owner, this forum was more of a personal blog than a forum. When you own a forum, you have the right and priviledge to do as you wish. I tired of the style and frankly found it intensely boring and self indulgent. My other bone of contention was the protected status of a now banned member. I found heygay very objectionable and found his favoured position unfathomable and offensive. With the new owner, this forum has risen to be easily the best gaythailand forum. I do not want to belittle the former owner and realize that this will be taken as criticism but want to show the difference with the new owner and how much better a forum can be when no one is treated as untouchable and no one dominates the forum. The former owner was self indulgant and treated the forum like a blog and protected heygay for years. Several moderators quit due to this and I wonder if Michael will admit this fact. It was his forum and his right to do as he pleased. I found the posts on Brazil ok but the endless details on many other postings were boring. christian has a similar style and goes in way too much detail that some no doubt find intersting but I skip over it. Michael is a quality poster and has authored many excellent threads but I didn't like the way he ran the forum when he owned it. So much better now that it has new management. And the best part is that heygay is history !! Quote

Williiewillie, MIchael did indeed admit this in a post in December and, although you may not have seen the post, quite frankly I don't see the need to go over old ground. Michael, on 22 Dec 2012 – 10:53, said: When I ran the board, I know I had at least 2 moderators resign directly because of him. One moderator returned when his previous handle LMTU was removed and the other not only never return but has rarely posted since. IMHO that pretty much says all that is needed to know about history. Scooby runs the Board now - not Michael. Michael is, as you rightly agree, a quality poster and he provides a great deal of useful information, often in a fun way. One thread I'll always remember is the long 10-day or so bike ride he and his bf made through Thailand illustrated with lots of daily pics. I just happen to enjoy travelling and have the luxury of being able to combine at least some of this with work. I hope I am able to give readers some of my own fascination and excitement so that they might consider such a trip. If not, then maybe the pics alone may be worth a quick look. I’m delighted you like this Forum. If Michael or I bore you, please put us on ignore, or just skip our posts. We won’t be in the least bit offended. And I’m glad you made the point in one thread about your desire to see more about “gay” Thailand here. Personally, I think that was not only of interest but needed to be said.
