TotallyOz Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 But have you tried it across different threads? I can get it to work with more than one quote from one thread, but not across different threads like before. If you can, I must be doing something wrong.I honestly had no idea that was ever even possible. Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 It was easy to do with copy and paste. You got the poster's info and date. But when you try to copy now, you cannot paste name and date because these will not copy. Quote
Guest scottishguy Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 I welcome the overwhelmingly positive comments from established GT members on this thread - just a pity that No2 has found it necessary to be pretty negative towards me but that's his perogative. I intend to post on this board as I did on SGF - within the rules. In almost 6 years there, which encompassed 2 owners, at least 4 moderators, and over 4000 posts - I don't think I ever had a post deleted - I'd like to think that might say something and put No2's comments into perspective. Sure, a few feathers have been ruffled over the years - but that's all part of the fun surely. KT - like NIrish and A447, I have no idea who the poster is on here that you are referring to but it is up to him how he behaves - I have no interest in him, unless it's ONE particular person in which case I'll be quickly looking for the "ignore" function Maybe KT could let me know who he means? NIrishGuy Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Can I just add on a slightly less serous note (which is always much better I find) that several people have (correctly) referred to me as a "newbie" - so, can I just request that you keep that up - for about 7 seven years in fact - as just for a split second there it made me feel terribly young again ! :-) Thanks for that, you almost made my week ! :-) TotallyOz 1 Quote

That would be mostly appreciated here. 1 This board expects less bitching than some others. Shouldn't be a problem with you, but if your wit attracts some ungracious responses, that's not a direction I favour for this board. 2 Sometimes, it seems almost impossible to have a serious debate on certain other boards, without the discussion degenerating into either genuinely amusing insults, or boring attacks & bitching. Neither option is welcome when someone has a genuine interest in the topic. That worked just fine when there was this board for serious debate and another one for banter. Now if the banter comes here, how do we keep threads on topic? Quote

KhorTose Posted February 27, 2013 Author Posted February 27, 2013 All I ever wanted to do was welcome all of you and just clear the air. i think both things have been accomplish and I am truly happy to see all of you on this board and look forward to your posts. I do have one more thing to add and that is a welcome to newalan No. 2, ooops, I just checked and he it is not no. 2 but newalan2. I just got confused. He is here under another name and I will let him identify himself in time. Scottish guy the member I was referring to was timmberty who has not posted in some time, but is still a member of this board. Quote
NIrishGuy Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 @abang - virgin status eh !! I like the sound of that one, lets go with that eh ! It's been a while, my my a newbie and a virgin all in one day, I feel like I'm 14 all over again, 14 !! Did I say 14, I meant 18 of COURSE ! :-) Quote
Guest fountainhall Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 A number of other posters have made their welcome, I will add mine. I have only participated infrequently on other Boards as this has been my home Board for almost 7 yearsl NIrish, though you may feel like 14 – oops 18, it seems I really am a virgin!! I have had barbs thrown in my direction on more than one other Board. Like others here, personally I loathed the Bitch Board. Like others, I find it hard to believe that those on that Board who occasionally spewed their vitriol against me and much more frequently against other individuals can suddenly become all innocent and friendly. But then I understand that, unlike others, that Board had an absence of rules. All other Boards seem to have their own rules, and perhaps it is those rules which dictate the types of posts that appear. So, I’d like to bring up 5 points (I’m tempted to say 5 “brief” points but, as others know, brevity is just not a skill I have yet acquired, alas ). 1. I will not bring existing disputes from any another Board over on to this. So I also hope those who were for or against certain actions elsewhere will bury hatchets – however difficult that sometimes is – and feel welcome here.2. All Boards – apart perhaps from one and a half (we know which ones they are) – have posting rules. One reason I like this Board is because it specifically encourages a certain type of longer, more in-depth posting which I happen to prefer. Some have written there is not enough fun here – “fun” usually being referred to as the casual, supposedly sarcastic comment that more often comes across as a quick, moderately offensive put-down. I’m all for fun, but when it becomes a series of short one-liners aimed at individuals that cease to be funny, I for one find it quickly becomes boring.Others have recently made the point that there is not enough discussion about what makes Thailand specifically “gay”. Whilst that was difficult to define, I think anyone looking back over threads will find it is not really true. There may be less discussion about bars, massage etc., perhaps because most of the posters seem to live in Bangkok, Chiang Mai or elsewhere. And some of us still work which, along with Bangkok’s traffic, makes it less easy to make regular trips to Bangkok’s nightlife. We are certainly less Pattaya-centric (except when one of our regular posters is in the country).3. This Message Board is part of a much larger site which gives tons of general information on Thailand for those planning to visit. You can see that info on the Home and City Guide pages. A lot of the material is currently being updated, and I believe the site owner wishes the Message Board partly to add personal experiences to that information. I don’t know the owner. Few do. He very rarely posts here, leaving the members and moderators to run the Board.4. Since the posting code and message centre policies are hidden in a small-print heading at the foot of the page, and as they are quite lengthy, allow me to bring a few points front and centre – MissionThe Gay Thailand Message Center forums are provided as a venue for the discussion and exchange of information about Thailand and other related issues. It is a place to submit queries and share experiences, information, concerns, news and views, and maybe even a little humor for the benefit of members. Responsible, non-abusive, free and open dialog is fostered between members and between members and Thai guys in support of the Gay Thailand site mission. Abusive posts shall not be tolerated.Covenant:No links to pornographic websites are allowed. Posting these links will result in immediate removal of the post and disillusion * of the membership of the posterPersonal abuse will not be tolerated. No name-calling or abuse of posters will be allowed by users or by moderators. If you have an issue with a poster, contact a moderator. If you have an issue with a post, post a counter argument.Code of Conduct:That Message Center members shall be expected to behave as adults is not an undue burden. The expected conduct standard for the Gay Thailand forums is the same as that observed everyday in society by adults in our neighborhoods, towns, and cities. It is based on straightforward mature behavior, civility and courtesy that you find in a neighborhood Pub or Tavern where neighbors and acquaintances joined by occasional strangers come together to socialize in good temper, to share conversation, and to hoist, in moderation, a glass of favorite beer or wine or a cup of coffee or tea. These forums are NOT presented for abusive arguing and name calling, score settling, thread stalking, or general cyberspace blood sport for the chronically bored. * for some reason, "disillusion"continues to be used here when I believe it should be "dissolution"! 5. There is, I believe, a tolerance here for a lot of different genuine posting activity. This can range from trip reports – please let’s have lots more of these, and not only from Thailand (with some nice pics). As this Board has illustrated over the years, there are lots of great places to visit in Thailand, in the region and as stopovers en route to or from holidays in Thailand. Bar and massage reports appear from time to time, and I think many of us would like to see more. There’s also discussion on living in Thailand, Thai politics, the economy, airlines, hotels, food, diets – well, you’ve probably already seen the range of topics on the Beer Bar. Anyway, welcome again, and I hope the above (although too long ) is in some small way illuminating. Quote
Bob Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 I hope the above (although too long ) is in some small way illuminating. I'm sure it was illuminating and hope to read all of it some day. I couldn't finish this sitting as my hand developed a scrolling cramp. Once we all get done with the Welcome Wagon bit, how about us all sitting around the campfire with a rousing rendition of Kumbaya? I'll bring the airplane bags.... williewillie 1 Quote
Guest scottishguy Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 KT - Timmberty/Brithai doesn't bother me. The rest of your news has depressed me though - let's see how long (or IF) he can resist going into attack mode (if he has not already struck as No2). Damn, if only Baht-Stop had replied!! Just kidding! EDIT: @ Bob When's this happening - I have my Boy Scout uniform on already. Is it two to a tent? Quote
Bob Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 EDIT: @ Bob When's this happening - I have my Boy Scout uniform on already. Is it two to a tent? Bring your uniform up here and we'll get you into the chorus line at Adam's Apple. Regarding the sleepover, the good news is that I'm bringing the beloved for my tent. The other news is that you and Khun Khortose are sharing a sleeping bag. Quote
Guest scottishguy Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Oh well, I've been in Adam's Apple before (I thought the price of a bottle of Scotch was reasonable until I discovered it was a 1/2 bottle!!) - but that was a few years ago, and I stayed in the Lotus Hotel opposite. So I'll be quite happy to get my woggle out on stage to the tune of "Ging Gang Gooli" As for KT - as long as he brings KY he'll be ok. Quote
KhorTose Posted February 27, 2013 Author Posted February 27, 2013 Oh come on now Bob, if you start singing Kumbaya there will be no sleep over, and a lot of people will get very sick. You know I can't sleep with Scottish guy as my boyfriend would get jealous, and after sleeping with me Scottish guy would have nothing better to ever look forward to again. Hell, we would never get bed in the first place as after one or two hours of your campfire rendition of all the names of the Thai street in Chiang Mai and their meanings,we all would have found a tall cliff to leap from. Quote
NIrishGuy Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Wow, I know some people on other boards say posters here can sometimes be "intense" but I didn't expect us all to be literally so "in tents" so soon ! :/) Ok, so as some of my best childhood memories were of me and four guys all squeezed into my Boys Brigade tent for camping holidays :-) count me in too, but I warn you I've wandering hands when I sleep ( its a medical thing I swear !) and I just can't abide sleeping bags so we'll all just have to go in the buff - now THAT could be "intense in tents" :-)) Quote
Guest scottishguy Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 I don't care what you are offering - all the boys will be coming to my tent anyway - I have poppers. Quote
a447a Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Fountainhall, thanks for posting those guidelines. I was looking for them but couldn't find them. "Bar and massage reports appear from time to time, and I thinkmany of us would like to see more." Well, those are my specialty! I've posted numerous accounts of my shenanigans during my 7 years on the other forum. But........ how detailed can I get on this board? せんせい、おしえて ください And Scottishguy, I'll dib, dib, dib if you can pair me up with someone willing to dob, dob, dob. TotallyOz 1 Quote

Scottish guy the member I was referring to was timmberty who has not posted in some time, but is still a member of this board. Sorry Khor tose I still dont see what this headline was all about, clear what air? There was no foul air here on Gaythailand to be cleared. Work with them? I have no idea what that means. People join here, they post, they read as individuals, a447 and Nirish have already distanced themselves from the spotlight you put them under, stating clearly that your repeated claims that they had "quit" "left" SGF they have stated is incorrect, inaccurate, they have merely decided to join this forum. All your 'welcome' managed to do was highlight a normal event of new members joining here, oh and introduce a bit of drama of which you made yourself the centre. I see you are also determined to 'use the opportunity' to stir things unnecessarily, not very nice, cowardly even, I assume because you are miffed i had the audacity to comment on your headline post, but please note: my handle is No2 NOT newalaan2 never has been, never will be with or without your 'ooops's', you are confused. It merely shows your intent on attempting to 'stir' trouble, any chance you could leave the trouble-making element of your personality back over at SGF? it is not needed or wanted here. I like all the different forums because of exactly that, they are all different. I have read and posted here since it began, and over the years this particular forum with it's easy non-confrontational style and posters, have offered up some incredible information simply not available on the other forums. (just for instance Bobs info on Wats of which some I knew but much I didn't) Michael, Thaiworthy, Fountainhall, Bob and others 'tend' not to post the content here on other forums. There are posters here as Michael states who do not, or rarely, participate in other forums, and so coming here you get a different 'slant' and information simply not available elsewhere. So too with Gaybutton's forum, there are some posters on there who have that as their 'home' forum and who are able to offer up great info. As far as 'who's' forum is who's as owners, mods etc.. i really dont care, I dont post or read forums because of who owns them i go to interact with the members there, I think 'some' crossover on the forums is helpful too, but the basic identities and style of each forum is intact. Also this forum is devoid of all the drama-queen, self-obsessed and self-promoting nonsense, as well as the 'banter' which only clogs up threads and takes threads, not off topic to another interesting sub-topic, but off topic to the land of "drivel". Now this fun and 'banter' is all well and good when you know where it is and how to avoid or join in, that is SGF. So as z909 correctly pointed out what happens if the 'banter' starts to take over? So while as a member too of SGF I couldn't give a damn one way or another who leaves or joins there, but the thought of this forum being 'contaminated' by the cliquie, in-jokes and utter rubbish panned off as 'banter' over at SGF that would be disappointing. However I am happy to see if scottishguy can add to the excellent quality of threads and posts here, if so that would be a bonus. KT - Timmberty/Brithai doesn't bother me. The rest of your news has depressed me though - let's see how long (or IF) he can resist going into attack mode (if he has not already struck as No2). Damn, if only Baht-Stop had replied!! Well already from nothing i note mention of using the ignore feature, and, as above has already stirred the pot inviting attacks, for what purpose? I will continue here as I have done since I joined, read the forum regularly and contribute when time allows. Quote

Guest abang1961 Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Well, well, Jovianmoon is yet another Broadway queen. I have stiff competition, ha ha ha. JM, I had that Joel Grey's version in another thread and found the Welcome to Thai video quite amusing. Anyway, regardless of who, what and when, all users should still work towards building a vibrant forum. Make this forum your first, your must-read of the day. Cut out any badmouthing or worst, backstabbing. World Peace .... Quote
Guest Jovianmoon Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 A Broadway queen, oh no! To be honest, I'm generally not into Broadway and Cabaret is really the only musical I like (and the only film musical I have on DVD). But I couldn't resist adding that video because I thought no doubt you would like it too! I should have guessed you would beat me to it... I guess that goes to show that no matter how small a thing it is, we can all find something in common. Which kind of goes with the other sentiments in your post. Cheers! Quote
