Done walk around tonight of bars in Sunee, heard some reviews of C.....bar,this is in a small soi that runs pararell to Colonial.

Youngish farang owner with his Thai boyfriend ,a few boys no oil paintings but pleasant enough to sit with.

The only thing I found off putting was the owner pushing drinks on me, I felt guilty to sip it.

I dont mind paying for a drink but I wasnt aware there was a time limit per drink.

I certainly couldnt drink any faster.

I counted only 1 other farang in there .

The Colonial also  looked busy as did the Sky Bar ,the Sky bar 75 baht  beer good value, great host.

I did not go into Krazy like I planned to do.

is the big guy still in the colonial bar ?? sits outside in the far corner watching the world go by with a few of his mates ...

he is well funny, he slags off almost everyone who walks past, not so loud that they can hear him tho, hes about 20 stone, but the jokes he makes about fatties are so so funny.

its worth having a beer in there just to listen to him talking.

This big guy sounds like a gay version of Big Ron in Private Dancer.

If that makes no sense to you please read the book - you'll be glad you did. It especially makes great reading while you're sitting in an outdoor bar in Thailand with the world passing by.

you probably wont be surprised to learn im not a great book reader.

i have a very short attention span, a 30 minute sitcom i can just about make,

a 90 - 120 minute film no chance.

There are remedies for that. ;)

No, seriously. I think you might be missing out on a lot of passive (and possibly active) activities that take more time than 30 minutes but are very rewarding. Okay, so if that's your nature then who am I to criticise? But I just think you could get so much out of reading or whatever takes your fancy - but something that takes a bit of time and reflection.

I won't say 'Life's too short', because as you rightly pointed out yourself in another thread, that's a silly cliché - what does anyone do that's longer than living? (I think credit goes to Billy Connelly for that one, actually). But pick up a book and give it a go - make sure it's something you're really interested in and you won't regret it.

If that fails - try scuba diving! After you've passed the training and got your Open Water certification, one dive takes only a little longer than your time limit and it is better than sex!  :)

enid blytons, magic far away tree, was the last book i remember reading, about 35 years ago i would imagine.

tho ive read some comics since then, and the odd newspaper.

i agree with you 100%, but im happy doing nothing more often than not.

sitting in a bar having a beer for a few hours is fine also, as long as the passing scenery is worth looking at.

Timmberty! You need a rocket up you. I've got just the thing.

Ever heard of John Cage?

His famous 4'33" wouldn't tax you unduly. Got to start somewhere.

We'll have you sat entranced throughout the whole Ring Cycle before we've finished with you.

You mean strap him to a chair and force him to listen to Wagner on an endless loop?

Why not, sounds like fun  ;)

I actually have a questoin about this place that maybe the OP can help out with.  I went by several times during my last visit (early Jan), and I never saw any boys inside. Is everyone up on a 2nd floor or something?

I like to visit all the bars, especially new ones, but I wasn't about to go inside when it looked so deserted.

Wrong work, Rogie. 4’33” lasts precisely that length of time. And it’s guaranteed to bore the pants of you in that time because nothing actually happens. The guy got paid for writing silence! So it's not the ideal listening piece for Sunee Plaza.

Mind you, it'd be a better piece to ‘encourage’ timmberty than the same composer’s ASLSP (meaning As SLow aS Possible). There is a performance of the work currently in progress at St. Burchardi Church in Halberstadt, Germany. It commenced in the year 2001 and will be completed - wait for it - in the year 2640.

I know you think I’m making this up. I’m not. It’s all true! The performance of the 8-page score began on 5 September 2001 with a pause that lasted till 5 February 2003. A chord was then played and sounded continuously till 5 July 2004. Since then, 10 new chords have been played.

Apparently this piece of “music” has done wonders for tourism at the church!

Compared to this piece, the 16 hours of the Ring cycle are a mere blip in time!
