Does anyone know a reliable Taxi firm, Pattaya to BKK?

Can anyone recommend a RELIABLE taxi firm from Pattaya to BKK?

I've always just booked via LEK travel previously, with no major problems.

Last time, the taxi turned up a few minutes late, then refuelled and made a separate stop for a pee. The taxi was some very worn 1980s Japanese crate with a whining axle. So I'm thinking of going elsewhere.

Going rate seems to be around 1000, I don't mind paying a little bit extra for reliability and reputation, but don't want to be paying for some high end service.

I'm leaving at a time of my choosing, so don't want to be doing mini buses.

Other suggestions are welcome . . .

I've never had a taxi or car hire not stop for gas or pee. Maybe they all do that. Buses leave pretty regularly if you are worried about scheduling. Try it. It's only 120 baht to Ekamai, and the BTS is right there. That's what I always do.

I have used Mr Toom 3 times. Very reliable, good drivers.

I think it's pretty damn poor to turn up a few minutes late and then make 2 separate stops in what should be an eighty minute journey. One stop maximum.

The taxi on the way down here didn't stop, he kept his foot hard down all the way.

I agree, I've tried the buses and will continue to use them when schedules suit me.

As examples, I have used the buses from the airport and Ekamai and have been satisfied. I've also taken buses from Aranya Prathet and Sihanoukville to Pattaya, although the latter was a complete shambles -ran smoothly on the Cambodia side, but the Thai side was dreadful with nearly 2 hours waiting and lots of chopping and changing over minibuses.

Also, I got from the northernmost BTS station to DMK via a number 29 bus.

However, I'm not prepared to get up early or arrive late at night if the bus schedules don't fit well to my requirements.

Mr Toom responded promptly to my e-mail and his services are booked.
