Cost for a tour guide

I have been chatting with some guys on gayromeo.com and there are some beautiful men on there. One guy that I have spoken to is a tour guide and says he will spend the time with me in Bangkok to show me around the city and the tourist areas. He said that the rate was up to me but most give him 2,000 per day and he said that sex was ok as well. To me this does seem like a good deal and to have someone that knows the city and can show me around and help navigate the city will make for a better trip. Does this seem like a reasonable amount of money for a guide?

I would be leery to hire someone based on gayromeo but that is just me. 2k baht per day seems very reasonable to me.

 

I hired a guide when I was in Thailand on my first trip and I chose based on how cute he was. Big mistake. He spoke very little English and knew very little of the city and when we got stuck half way between Bangkok and Pattaya, there was no way for me to tell him to call my hotel to get them to pick me up. He was great for sex at night and fun to be with and great with 3 ways but as a tour guide, he sucked.

 

I suggest you make sure you hire a pro if you want a true guide experience. But, this is just my advise and if the boy is cute, I'm sure you will enjoy him. Why not just hire him your first night and test him. If you guys click, then offer him to stay with you longer. He will not deny this request. If you don't like him, you are not stuck in a deal struck up via the Internet.

Also, it sounds to me like the OP already has hotels picked out and his schedule set. He is asking if 2k is a good rate for a guy to stay all day and night and tour and have sex. I think that is a good rate. Do you agree?

It's a good rate especially if he speaks good English. Either do the one night first or call him and make sure his level of English and knowledge of the areas you want to see before striking a deal.

1 You probably don't need a tour guide. If you can read a map and the LP guide, that is sufficient.

 

2 He may be a good guide, he may be totally useless. He may want you to spend the day buying him food and various goods.

 

3 He may be good in bed, or a dud. If he's a dud, there are other boys in Thailand.

 

4 Are you planning to visit gogo bars with him? No problems there, until you see some exceptionally cute guy and want to off him instead.

 

Unless this guide has independent recommendations, I wouldn't sign him up for more than 1 day at a time.

That is the 3rd plug for Suphot. I was under the impression that Suphot is not a money boy and only a driver/guide? If that is the case, do you see a difference here in what the OP is looking for?

 

Also, since you have sent so many to him, what is his daily rate for Bangkok?

Your impression is correct. Suphot's a damned-good driver, tour guide, and likely to end up to be someone you consider a friend. He ain't, however, a moneyboy and he isn't going to have sex with anybody other than with his beloved Smiles.

Having a guide can be very useful, especially if you're a first time visitor. Even in Bangkok. As long as he's a licensed guide who knows his stuff anyway. Bt2000++ seems about right for a regular guide. The ++ is usually things like admission fees, transportation, maybe lunch.

i was not looking for a guide initially. I had someone make an offer to me and it sounded reasonable. I will not be hiring someone until I get to Thailand and know that we have the ability to "live" with each other for more than a few hours. I also prefer to spend some time alone each day and not into late night every night.

well, you should always do what you think is right, while there are many nice and genuine guys on GR, you also have a chance to meet nigerian scamer, so be careful and meet him in public place. many of my friends found themselves broke and robbed out of money and valuables by meeting guys on GR.
