TotallyOz Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 I went to my first Visa run since the new regulations. It was a breeze. I was worried that there would be some problem but there was none. When I got back into Thailand, the guy simply marked my passport and my departure card with a number 1. This means this is my first of 3 entries allowed for the 90 days maximum. I didn Quote
Guest wowpow Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 Tourist Visa Exception "Foreigners who enter the Kingdom under the Tourist Visa Exemption category may re-enter and stay in Thailand for a cumulative duration of stay of not exceeding 90 days within any 6-month period from the date of first entry". http://www.mfa.go.th/web/12.php#Tourist As you can see above the regulation does NOT stipulate only 3 x 30 day entries. It says/infers that you can enter as often as you wish as long as you don't exceed 90 days in six months. However, how will it be applied? We shall see. The Immigration would need to do a lot of sums is the rule is applied as written. Will they know about leap years and how many days in a month? ) Quote
Guest cialis Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 I went to my first Visa run since the new regulations. (snip) But, it was nice that the border was so relaxed and easy. TotallyOz Posted November 6, 2006 Author Posted November 6, 2006 I hope you tipped the driver 500 Baht minimum as you must have spent at least 6 hours with him. His wage is a meagre 6000 Baht per month. I declare all Visa Runners must pay the driver 500 baht Actually, I didn't touch him and I still tipped him 100 baht. I declare that anyone with the name of Cialis get a life. With or without the aid of Cialis or Viagra. Quote

Wowpow is right. The 90-day visa is not part of the "visa run" crackdown. You pay for that 90-day visa. The crackdown applies only to the 30-day visa-on-enty because there is no fee for it, but a great many "farang" have been living in Thailand on it. Quote
Guest wowpow Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Gaybutton there are three types of common Visa getting a tad confused here. 1) Tourist Visa Exception - not technically a Visa but a permission to citizens of 41 countries to visit Thailand Visa free for tourism. It gets confusing particularlly as people going briefly abroad call getting another one "going on a Visa run". 2) Visa on Arrival - available to citizens of about 16 countries and recently increased from 15 days to 30 days per Visa. There is a fee for this Visa. 3) Tourist Visa - anyone may apply outside of Thailand. You get a Visa valid for 90 days but only 60 days at one entry. A single or multiple entry permit allows one to go in and out of Thailand without the Visa being cancelled. Full details are on www.thaivisa.com Quote
