My father was a prisoner of war for 5-years and he was never more sad than on this day every year - sad, because of all those who died on all sides in all wars. Of all the music that is played on this day, this is what most moved him - Nimrod from Elgar's "Enigma Variations" with its aching crescendos dying away to silence. Quote
