Guest fountainhall Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 A question about using quotes from other posts. The 'Quote' function used to be quite simple. If you wanted to quote from one post, you merely clicked 'Quote', edited the original post if so desired, and then answered. If you wanted to quote from more than one post, again it was quite easy. I believe there was a multi-quote function, but I just clicked 'Quote', copied the entire quote which always came with the attribution/date shown on the screen, and then pasted in to a word file while you located the other posts from which you wished to select a passage. Your completed post could then easily be copied and inserted into a new GT post. Now things are quite different. If you want to quote from only one other post, after you click 'Quote' you get a box which has no attribution/date - merely the content. However, when you then make your post, the attribution/date is right there on the screen. Why can we not see it when we are writing the reply? But if you want to quote from multiple sources, either from within one thread or from several threads, it seems impossible to for the programme to print the attribution and the date. And without these, how can other posters know for sure that this is an actual quote which they can go back and check, if they so wish? Can we please have a quote system which allows the writer of the message actually to see the attribution and the date of posts being copied every time. This will make it much easier for the poster, and also much easier for readers to accept that it is a genuine quote and not something manufactured by the poster. Or have I missed something? Quote
Guest thaiworthy Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 I've had exactly the same experience as Fountainhall. I hope it can be fixed. Quote
TotallyOz Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 There is a little light switch button at the top of the reply box. Click that and it should allow you to see things fully. Quote
